I love this film. I used to watch it on VHS back in the day when I was a kid...back when Super Mario Bros. 2 was huge, and right before SMB 3 was released! This blu ray from Universal is not an ordinary disc in that it is not manufactured in bulk like their other discs. It is a MOD (mint or made on demand) title that only gets a certain number of copies made when they're ordered by websites like Best Buy or Amazon or whoever else sells this particular title. The discs themselves are pressed like normal blu rays, similar to Warner's Warner Archive Collection line. Although the back of the case lists the audio as Dolby Digital 2.0, it is indeed DTS-HD MA 2.0. Picture quality could be better, but honestly, I wasn't expecting much with Universal Studio's track record for video quality on catalogue releases. It's worth it just to have the title on the next gen format, however.

I love the story, the characters, the plot....I love everything about this film even with the obvious messups in the film because in the end, at the time it released, Nintendo was running rampant and nothing could stop them! This movie fanned the flame and showed that video game competitions are awesome! Not to mention the overall story of the movie is good for kids... To those people that view it as no good, oh well...I guess you can't please everyone all the time...But when this movie came out, Super Mario Brothers 3 wasn't released yet and this was a very first glimpse anyone got at the game...No release, no pictures, not even information they were making the game...The other reviewers maybe are too young to realize that which is why they gave it low rating... Anyways, I totally love this movie and any person with kids would enjoy it...Not much violence and lots of video games which kids play anyway today...A great movie! :)

Im not sure what is the problem with the other dude, but this movie is about as good as it gets for video games movies...he should just go back to watching game over with frankie muniz and learn what a really good game movie is

This is a great movie to watch. Really funny and Fred Savage is great in it. A must see for kids or adults who didn't get to play NES early on. I love the Power Glove, it's so bad!

This movie is nothing more than a 90 minute Nintendo commerical. In this movie,Corey Woods(Fred Savage) sneaks his emotionally disturbed little brother,Jimmy(Luke Edwards) out of a foster home, and sets off on a trip to California.Along the way they team up with a girl named Haley(Jenny Lewis),and they discover that Jimmy has a talent for playing video games. The plot of the movie is rediculous, character dialogue is way off,the only reason to watch this movie is because Nintendo back then was at the height of it's popularity.Along with Nintendo products like the Power Glove.Along with a new game, one that hadn't even been available when the movie was in theaters "Super Mario Bros 3".This was our first look at the would be best selling video game on the NES.

Can't Believe They Put This On Dvd

Well, the good news is that if 'The Wizard' can get an official dvd release, than there is still hope for all the other truly good films out there that still haven't. Because the bottom line is, 'The Wizard' is just awful, which is somewhat strange because the cast isn't half bad. The problem is the storyline and the plot, which is about as absurd as they get. As a videogamer myself, my favorite thing to do when I watched this movie as a kid (which I did a couple of times), was to look for all the inconsistencies and editing errors that take place during the videogame shots, they're pretty bad. Unless you have some weird obsession for this film, which I'm sure there's probably a few people that do, I'd say forget this dvd ever existed. I'm sure Fred Savage and Christian Slater would thank you for it.
