the concept was a pretty good idea, but the execution of design was weak. i expected better game play and every room i sneaked into had the same generic floor plan.

This game is unworthy of being on the next gen platform. It feels rushed and basic. Very disappointed in this game. I had such high hopes.

Given the quality of graphics, the nicely detailed animations for Garrett's interactions, the solid gameplay, the immersive environments, the nicely done story-telling and voice work, I think Thief deserves more respect than it's being given. Great game!

I followed all the news on this game before its release and was very excited about it. When I got to play the game, I was disappointed. The story was short, the controls were a bit clunky, etc. It did get better as I progressed the game but still didn't reach the expectations I had for it.

There is a plague about the world. It's a dark setting in a sparsly populated city. Curfew is in effect. You'll progress at a snails pace but this is a game about stealth! You aren't going to buy this title for instant gratification. Finding the hidden treasures is the name of the game. Hidden is the keyword here. Prepare for hours of study in the ancient shadow arts.
Mr. Thief is a master of his art. He transverses the environment with smoothness and fluidity. You have skills that can be upgraded such as stealth, combat, and efficiency. There are benefits to the skills but loot is scarce. You'll have to manage your resources carefully. Buying arrows and tools may be more important. Careful planning will get you through your endeavors. Just keep focussed with focus.
The controls are great. Everything works. You'll slide through the environment like biscuits through molasses. The world is detailed with several hidden areas.
There is a story being told every time you complete a chapter. The world is dynamic with new areas opening as you complete events. The story transitions in real time. Events take place in the world and you experience them.
There are tools and weapons. You have your bow and an assortment of arrows ranging from offensive to defensive and some unique environmental modifying catalysts. The blackjack is your other weapon for infighting. You'll be able to dodge most attacks but everything about the combat is upgradable.
Replay value depends on your preferences. People still replay linear games. Look up speed runs. If you turn off all the assists and can still finish the game on the hardest difficulty finding all the loot in less than a few hours, then you've probably conquered this title.
No game is perfect. Because a perfect game is boring.
Technology-wise, I think everyone believes this game should be maintaining a solid 60 frames per second. Graphics and technology in general won't make a great game. BlueRay movies show at about 24 frames per second. Too fast and you get the live TV effect.
Residents are robotic with 3 lines of scripted communication. It repeats redundantly. Nothing new here, developers don't spend time designing clones that carry on conversation. The attention to detail is notable but it leaves you wishing you could be able to interact with more of the environment. Throwing buckets and candles at guards instead of being limited to bottles.
Thievery is the name of this game. You get instant money for larceny but it would have been better to have had to haggle with the Fence. Sale a couple of valued items and receive a better price. The system works irregardless (it's a word).
Play the game but don't believe the reviews until you've experienced it for yourself. I don't personally care for popular reviewers on video sites because they never truly play a game. They'll tell you 7 to 10 hours but I've already sank approximately 30 hours into this game. So I leave you with a question for you yourself to answer. How can they know a game after only 7 hours?

Possibly the worst stealth game to date

I've been playing stealth games for years now, and until I bought this game, I'd never experienced one that just made me want to quit gaming entirely. Everything about this game is poor quality, from the controls, to the graphics, even the dialogues. For those of you familiar with the Dishonored franchise, Thief basically plagiarizes the entire plot of Dishonored, while removing certain elements and themes to make it more like the original Thief from 15 years ago, an effort that failed completely. Considering it was made by Square Enix (with help from Eidos), I thought it would be at least decent. It was anything but. I gave it 2 stars because it kept some basic elements of stealth. Nothing I haven't seen before. My recommendation: don't waste your money on this game. If you want a fun stealth game that has all the goodies and a storyline that doesn't seem like it was written by a 4th grader, just buy Dishonored or one of the Deus Ex series. Anything but this.

I like its interface and graphic and plot; however, it seems like all the quests are similar, so some people might think it is boring.

I saw this game and I'd never heard anything about it. I decided to pick it up anyway and I truly thought it was such an awesome game. It has similarities to Assassins Creed in a few way but of course, it had its own creative story line that I adored. So, if you are skeptical about it, just know that if you liked Assassins Creed, then you will probably like Thief.

I was eagerling awaiting the arrival of this game and bought it the day it was released. Got home put in my Xbox one and thats where the excitement ended. From the time for it to load to the Xbox ones memory the confusing controls and the forced predetermined routes I was no longer impressed or interested. I ended up trading the game in.

I traded this game in the very next day and got Plants vs Zombies. The dialogue in this game is so lame. Also, the game play is way too slow/boring, glitchy, and the storyline is super cheesy. You have limited control over your character and the schematics of the game are all unbalanced (shoot an arrow into a guards head and he just shakes it off). I usually don't leave feedback, but this game is exceptionally bad. Please don't buy it, lol.

Average game play. Not a bad game, but it definitely does not take advantage of the Xbox one horse power.
