Customers are saying
Customers highly value the H50 HD Dash Camera's video quality and ease of use, frequently praising its simple setup and installation. Many appreciate the camera's compact size and find the price reasonable for its performance. While some users noted that the night vision could be improved and the software interface requires some getting used to, the positive feedback on other features outweighs these concerns.

No what comes with it and what is extra
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The camera works great so far. I wish the sales person new more about the product. It does not come with the cable for GPS which would show your location on a map when it recorded. It does not come with cable for parking mode which records while car is parked if it detects motion or vibration. Parking mode is why I bought it. $30 for parking mode cable.

Simple Dash camera
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We bought 2 of these for each of our cars. Fairly easy to install. Great, if all you need is video. If you want GPS, or want to hardwire you have to buy those accessories separate. Which was no big deal for us. Video seems to be pretty clear for 720p. Installs pretty easily on my Windows 8 laptop. We purchased a 32 GB sd card for more storage because it only comes with 8 GB card. We got it at a sale price so far they are good for what we need them for.

Never recorded video
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Unfortunately, I never even got a chance to view the video from this unit. It would turn on with a green light, but video folder was empty when I connected to computer. It is a very small and cheap dash cam compared to others, but at the very least should be expected to record video. Had to return and am still on the lookout for a dash cam that works reliably.

Performance is mixed on this dashcam
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This dash cam is a good performer in day time conditions, however the night time performance is an F, make it F-. You can't even make out details, you would need such bright lights other drivers on the road would be blinded just so the video would work. You see spots that are light sources, but everywhere else is black. The dashcam comes with a 8GB micro SD card, 2 different adapters one a microSD to SD Card adapter, and a usb adapter that accepts the microSD card directly. The MicroSD card comes with all the software you need to view your files. The program installs on your computer in moments. The cam uses a proprietary video recording file that cannot be seen (probably just hidden) but only viewed and exported on the Video Viewing software. You can change the setting for the cam through this software that saves it to file that is loaded by the dashcam when it is powered on. By default the cam records in 1 minute segments and cannot be changed. The default (middle) sensitivity is still rather sensitive, the setting is either low, middle, or high. You can turn off the mic if you don't want to record the ambient sounds while your driving. Mounting is relatively simple, however the mount is very basic. Make absolutely certain you have it oriented level and where you want it as once it's on the windshield it stays! I was ever so slightly out of level and it will not move. However this does not impact what is seen that much, it's just not quite there. This cam support GPS antenna, but doesn't come with one. One can be ordered though. The cam also comes with power adapter and cord long enough to be routed to your power adapter port. In conclusion i feel this dash cam is way overpriced for it's performance alone. I'm sure there are cheaper alternatives that offer the features and similar performance. For the money I would have expected a slightly better sensor that does better at night.

Posted .Hi there,
We sincerely apologize for your negative experience with the H50 Dash Cam. Regarding the video quality in low light conditions, the H50 will require a certain amount of ambient lighting (for instance, the headlights of your personal vehicle) in order to capture details in surrounding objects. The camera exposure is also set to focus on the roads in front rather than the surrounding environment in order to get the optimal exposure for any road accidents in front of the vehicle. As a result, the surrounding environment may appear darker on the film.
However, your comments regarding the quality of the camera has been noted and forwarded to the appropriate departments to consider for future models and firmware versions. Once again, we are sorry to hear about your experience and highly recommend that you contact us directly by email (support@thinkware) or phone (1-844-865-9273) if you have questions regarding our products.

Not so great
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Doesn't work reliably. Camera will not take bigger SD card. Records in one minute segments. The video quality is not that good. For $80 there are far better options. The voice it has is really annoying. Whenever there is a problem with the SD card it won't shut up. Constantly complains and then reboots and then complains etc... I will be purchasing a different camera ASAP.

Posted .Hi there,
Please be reminded that the H50 supports memory cards up to 32 GB. In case a file is corrupted, the one minute recording interval feature will prevent you from losing several minutes of important footage. Certain voice notifications can be disabled in the settings. However, the voice notifications you described was designed to update you of the recording status of the dash cam as well as any errors that could prevent your dash cam from recording and saving potentially important footage. Both these features were placed to ensure that recordings are saved securely. It seems that you were experiencing a microSD error as the dash cam was continually notifying you of this error and rebooting in attempt to fix the error. We recommend you to try formatting the card on your computer and use a Thinkware brand memory card for guaranteed compatibility. If the problem persists or if you have other questions, please contact our customer support through email ([email protected]) or by phone (1-844-865-9273).

Good Camera with Proprietary Software
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Camera works as advertised and it is very reliable. My only complaint is, this camera needs a proprietary software to watch and/or save the videos. This means, videos are not recorded on a standard format that any video editing software can read. There is a way to convert videos to a standard format but that didn't work for me. I contacted customer service and they said they will work on this issue in the future.

So far its great!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Installation of the H50 was a breeze. The charging cable was just right in length (I want to say it was 13-14 ft) so that I was able to hide the cable out of complete eye sight and plugged into a hidden cigarette lighter port. Picture quality seems very good as well, with a great field of view. For the price this makes a great dashcam that is small yet very well made.

Good camera
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've been looking around for a camera for a while doing some research and decided to go with this one. Is super easy to set up great picture the only thing that took me a while was viewing the video I had to go to the manufacturer website to download other than that is great. I am thinking of hardwiring it let's see how that goes

No battery, ungainly interrupted power source.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am extremely disappointed in the product. 1. The sales representative at BestBuy was completely misinformed or ignorant about the product (she said it had a battery). 2. The package was factory sealed and encased in a security wrap so I could not look at the product until after I purchased it. 3. There is absolutely no way to conceal the power wire in a Mercedes Benz. 4. With my other dash cams (and I have several) I can charge the unit at night in the garage, remove the cord when I leave. The battery will operate the camera all day in driving AND parking mode and I recharge it again each night.

Our official YouTube channel has videos with information and tutorials regarding our products, including a step-by-step guide on how to conceal the cables here (http://bit.ly/1NI41En). Great at first but soon began issues
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The video recorded by the Thinkware H50 was great when I first purchased this dash cam. Unfortunately after less than a year of use, the video being recorded is choppy at best with a lot of artifacts and ghosting affecting all recordings. The video sometimes cuts out altogether. I have tried using new memory cards and I always purchase the Class 10 professional cards made for recording video. The manufacturer has not offered a single firmware update for the H50 and doesn't seem likely to in the future. The software needed to watch or convert the video does not allow for the videos to be deleted and formatting in the unit doesn't even delete the old recordings. Setting the time and date is useless as each time I have tried, the unit seems to default to sometime in 2012. I am greatly disappointed in the rapid degradation of this little dash cam and will not consider this brand in the future. I guess for $50, you get what you pay for.

Not impressed
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought it after reading so many glowing reviews but I ended up returning it for two reasons-1) image quality, especially at night, is terrible and 2) there's a really annoying and LOUD greeting on startup that can't be disabled.

Posted .Hi there,
We are sorry to hear about your experience with the H50. Your feedback on the night video quality has been noted. Please note that the dash cam does require a certain amount of light to record at the optimal video quality. While not all voice guidance alerts can be disabled, the majority of them can be by disabling the "Voice Guidance" setting when running with the latest firmware. Please watch this video tutorial on how to upgrade the firmware on the H50 if you have not already: http://bit.ly/1MzyHI6
We hope this helps! Please let us know if you have additional questions by contacting us directly by phone (1-844-865-9273) or email ([email protected]). Thinkware Customer Support
