Many appreciate the low price and find it to be a good value, although some users experienced issues with network connectivity in certain areas. While most found the SIM card easy to use, compatibility with specific phones should be verified beforehand.

TIng is a very friendly company to work with if you only use your phone sparingly or just need a quick month of service. I would not recommend for moderate to heavy users.

Very expensive service, $30 credit won't last long

Yes, the SIM does come with $30 service credit. But as it turns out, the $30 only lasted 1 month with minimal usage. To start, it's $6 per device, and $3 for each minimum of minute/text/MB data. So if you only use 1 minute, 1 text, and 1 MB for the entire month, the bill is already $15. Family member accidentally let phone updates run in background before shutting off data, so the entire $30 credit was used up in less than a month. Service runs on Sprint network.

The starter kit is good for trial with the $30 credit. The kit is simple. Account set up could have been easier.

$1 for the SIM and $30 in service credits. Win Win. Have not tried service yet. If service is great, you can compare costs to existing service. If service not so great, it only costs you $1. "Great try before you buy".

Suspends Accounts for Referring Friends or Family

If I could give 0/5 stars I would. I activated my account and referred my partner, then he created and activated his. Everything seemed to be going fine until today I go to make a call and it routed me to their customer service. After waiting for 10 mins to get someone on the line and having them access my account they tell me my account was "suspended due to referral fraud" and "gaming the referral system" and that I would be unable to make any referrals going forward plus the referral credit I had would not be able to be reinstated... all of that because I referred my partner, and one of the main things Ting advertises is that you can earn credit by referring friends and family. They did all of this, with zero notice, to both my partner and I. They never sent an email, text, or put any notice on the website letting us know they were doing this or that it happened. I got lucky in that I was home when I tried making a call but if I was somewhere I needed mobile data or calling to work I'd be without communication, potentially while stranded or in the middle of nowhere. Do a Google search and you'll find multitudes of people who've had the same thing happen. Them doing this combined with their outrageous rates for calling, texting and especially data, wanting $6/mo just to keep the line active plus the fact they use T-Mobile service for this plan makes getting service with Ting a terrible option vs other carriers unless your usage is incredibly light. Just to give you an idea how ridiculous their rates are: if you use just 200 mins, send and/or receive 200 texts and use 1.5GB of data you'll be billed $40/mo. To add insult to injury, if you have any problems with your account and need to call them, those minutes count against you. There's dozens of carriers where you can get unlimited talk, text, and 2-3GB of data for $35/mo or under, or 500 mins/texts and 1-2GB of data for under $30. Their whole "you only pay for what you use" marketing gimmick is just their way of distracting you from the fact they're charging you outrageous prices for wireless service.
