This game is amazing. If you love 16 bit platformers this is perfect for you.

Tiny Barbarian is a 2d action platformer with a great level of challenge to it. I died alot, but not once did I feel like the game was being cheap. It always felt as if I died through my own lack or skill, or mistake! The gameplay is quite fun with a good variety of moves that you can perform though different combinations of inputs. Tiny Barbarian also mixes its gameplay up often enough to keeping things from ever getting stale! The game also pays homage to several classic titles such as Castlevania, and Donkey Kong the arcade game. Which adds a little extra something for fans of such games.

I’m huge fan of Nicalis games and collect only their “Launch Editions.” Somehow, Tiny Barbarian slipped passed me. So I recently ordered this game (05/16/18) online with BestBuy.com and wasn’t sure if the free bonus were included since it was originally a “Launch Edition” that released back Fall 2017. Usually Best Buy lists items as “Launch Edition” in the product’s title (...like the other current Nicalis listed: Ittle Dew 2, End is Nigh, etc). Well, it wasn’t listed in the the technical specs as it just said ‘Standard Edition’ but product description says “Launch Edition.” It was a gamble so I decided to just ordered it and hoped to get indeed a “Launch Edition.” Fortunately when it arrived, it was! :)

A simple yet challenging, no-frills platformer. The retro aesthetic is fitting for a game inspired by the toughest of yesteryear. The first batch of this game comes with some cool swag, though some gamers may be turned off by the price against the value of the game itself.

Awesome retro style patformer. Nicalis is great not only for their games but for the love that is given to all their phycical releases. Color instruction manual and collectible pouch housin a chain is a very nice tough. Pick it up in the future.

My only issue is that the artstyle is somewhat hit or miss. Sometimes I'll look at it and think it's beautiful...and then seconds later while looking at the same screen I'll think it looks ugly. I don't know...it's just something I get with this game. I like this style typically, but this game just...I don't know how to explain it. Anyway, it's a fun indie platformer and it gives you a fair challenge too. Not quite as long as I'd like considering it's price, but there's plenty of collecting and replayability.

The first copies of this game, like other Nicalis titles, include goodies like an NES-style instruction manual and a keychain. These are bonuses on top of what turns out to be a genuinely fun retro-styled platformer. Highly recommended to fans of old-school fun.

First of all, Nicalis always delivers with a beautiful instruction manual & some first print run freebies. Beautiful package. Secondly, this is a challenging & enjoyable pixelated 2D platforming game. If you like Volgarr the Viking, you'll love this one!

Tiny Barbarian DX is a solid action platformer that pays homage to the pioneers of genre. While the sprite work is much more detailed and the controls a bit more fluid, there's no mistaking that the developers own a great deal to the 8-bit masters. If your a fan of the genre or into speed running, this game is great! The portability factor of the Switch and the awesome launch bonus goodies included Nicalis definitely made this worth the purchase.

Great on the go retro game and some difficult level to overcome. Very fun enjoyable game.

It's a standard platformer that can be difficult. I'll always buy this developers games because their physical versions go above and beyond. a full color manual, pouch and keychain pack ins are a nice touch.

Originally released episodically on PC, Tiny Barbarian DX is a fantastic platformer in the style of such classics as Ghouls 'n Ghosts. It is a lot more fair than the games that inspired it but still challenging. The physical version for Switch comes in a stylish box with art by Susumu Matsushita, who designed the characters of the classic Adventure Island series as well as a full color manual.

Tiny Barbarian DX is a great game to play when you just want to flex your muscles and smash things. A perfect game to take on the go and play with friends. There's some old school difficulty involved--so only the strongest barbarians will survive until the very end.

This is mainly for those who have been getting all the physical editions of Nicalis's games. They always come with extra goods, including a nicely printed instruction booklet. The price may be steep for such a small game, so I would pass unless you really like the extra stuff.

Overall the game is a very solid platformer, but the price may come across as a little steep to some. The game does come with quite a few physical goodies as well. So if you're interested in the title, I'd say pick it up.

When I received the game it was the Standard Edition and not the Launch Edition as advertised. So it did not have the manual, sack, and keychain. When I went to the store the Launch Edition and Standard Edition has the same SKU so there was no way to replace it without it being guaranteed the Launch Edition. The game is awesome though. So still buy the game. Just know it won’t have the physical goodies included.

Great classic arcade style game from an independent company. Not quite as fun as a game made by Nintendo but still good.

Good addition to the Switch. Game is fun but difficult. Physical copy comes with nice booklet like the old NES days.

A great experience playing this game on the go! The switch really has it down and this is a great game…. Must buy!
