Preferred the older Season Pass to the new OnePass setup. Commercial skip is much better than 30 second skip (when available). Quick view is alright, but I don't use it. Does the job I need it to do.

I bought this to increase the recording capacity of my xfinity system. Works as expected. Lots of "how to" videos on the net were very helpful.

I decided to go with the TiVo, because I was tired of paying COX a monthly rental and programing fee for a DVR I would never own. While I had to put my money up-front for the cost of the TiVo, in two years I recap the cost of my hardware and TiVo's programing fee is half of COX. The rate is guaranteed not to increase for the life of the hardware.

Great entertainment system. Record up to 4 shows at once. Skip the commercials with the push of 1 button. It even gives you a chime sound as a reminder. Has QuickMode. Built-in wireless networking. Sweet system... Love it!

    TiVo beats Directv

I ditched directv and got a cable card from fios and am saving close to $100 per month primarily due to not paying monthly charge for each box and bundling with Internet service. Plus ability to search for a movie or show across both cable and streaming beats directv big time.

The X1 box with Comcast was my favorite until now. Add quick play and the quick skip, I changed my mind. I don't care my TV is smart anymore

    Best TiVO Ever

I've been using TiVo since 2006, and this is the best one yet. I haven't even used the new skip commercials or even 4K yet (planning on a new 4K TV this Christmas). What has been most impressive is the speed and seamless experience with apps such as netflix and youtube. Granted I have a robust home network, but the processor over Roamio plus is significant. User interface a bit more refined too. 1TB is a lot of storage plus it has eSata and two USB. Keep in mind this new unit is pure digital and no longer has component outputs. Can't wait to go 4K, my Tivo is ready! 1080i and 1080p look beautiful though. Much smaller unit than it looks, only prefer that it was black but honestly not a big deal. This thing destroys the latest cable company boxes. I tried an X1 and the Bolt is superior in many ways plus 1st year of service included in the price!

Nice idea, needs a lot of work to be done

I am a first time TiVo user. I have switched from xfinity X1 to TiVo. My intention was to replace multiple devices I use for cable/local/streaming media. However, TiVo is not up to the level I expected for. Streaming videos only give stereo output. Plex streaming is extremely slow; Plex is also at fault in this case. I have gigabit wired network throughout my house. So it is not my network as I can stream without any problem on other devices. In short I am back to my HTPC and Amazon Fire TV for video streaming and TiVo is only used as a cable tuner instead of X1. I like other TiVo features like commercial skipping etc. Though, only a little number of programs support this feature. At this point I am afraid that I will never be able to coup up the money I spent on TiVo Bolt compared to the monthly DVR fee I paid for X1. If you have multiple TVs in the house, it may be a good idea to go with TiVo and TiVo minis to skip multi room DVR charges by cable operators. If you are single TV users like me, I would suggest to stick with cable boxes. Things I don't like about TiVo: - It gets super hot compared to X1 and I am afraid of device life which pushes me back from getting a lifetime subscription. This will make TiVo expensive compared to DVR monthly subscription from cable company. - Compared to X1, TiVo gives only one previously watched channel where as X1 gives you a list of channels watched with an option to choose from. - Killed my HT setup with white color BOLT. - BULKY/UGLY remote: - TiVo remote is takes me back to 90's or using a kids toy remote. TiVo needs more innovative ways to design their remote to match up wth the modern design. --TiVo remote lacks proper multi device support. I cannot turn on or off my Denon AVR, forcing me to use multiple remotes instead of one remote. --No voice search even via TiVo app. Things I like about TiVo Bolt: + 4K UHD compatible - future proof. + SkipMode - though only few programs support this feature. +/- Integrated search and access to programs - you are limited to stereo audio output from other sources. + Modern BOLT design With short falls and steep device and service fee, I would not recommend TiVo at least for those using X1 unless you plan to have 2 or more TVs.

    Good but could be better

While no manual or quick start guide provided, I will say set up was somewhat easy. Did not know I would have to wait 24hrs after setup for my account to be active. Actually took only a few hours and was running by next morning. I bought this to replace Satellite account so I am using an antenna and get a great picture. Netflix and youtube apps work great. Now on to the conn. In order to get the full experience of what all this will do you will still need a cable account, and a cable card. This is the only way to get the extra channels that my better half insist on viewing, Food Network, AMC, TBS, TNT, and so on. Therefore I am now paying the same for digital starter cable package and the extra fee for the cable card which is the same as I paid for the set top box from Satellite service. On top of that I now have an annual fee of $ 150.00 from TiVo or it cannot be used at all. Overall paying more this year then previous and not sure of any extra benefits to offset the extra cost. Bottom line if you are looking to cut the cord and reduce your yearly TV bill, I would not go this route. Will return and look for alternative source for OTA recording.

Amazing 4k DVR , supports Vudu, Amazon streaming

The Bolt is all that we were looking for in a new DVR to replace our older Tivo model. It is 4k, it allows us to use Vudu movie service, Amazon Prime video using our Amazon Prime account and we can stream using our xfinity service. Possibly the best feature is the ability to skip commercials. For those shows that support the feature it is awesome. We are totally satisfied with the Bolt.

TiVo Bolt not just a channel surfer.

Love this new BOLT works. The design is different then anything before. its also Smaller, Lighter, Faster. The new features Skip mode and Quick mode make watching a 1 hour show almost done in 30 mins. Good bye old cable box your nothing but a channel surfer. The TiVo Bolt has just just shocked the world. Streaming on Netflix and Amazon is so much easier when it movie night at home. Do a quick search and you can also find out where you can find the shows you have been missing. I can't wait to see what is next in line for TiVo.

We have 2 home theater systems in my house. The Tivo Bolt system seems to work well with all except in my media room. I already have a Harmony Ultimate remote system in place but figured I might use the Tivo Bolt too. Well, if you keep the lights low for your media room, don't expect to use the Tivo Bolt remote. It is worthless and when you look for a solution, they want you to spend more money in addition to the $399 you already spent for the Bolt to get it lighted. That is really lame they would do that. Maybe I missed something and it does light but NOT.

I do the like the skip feature a lot and the fact it helped me in determining my TV Antennae Strength is a great feature. The ability to sort recordings is limited and not really how I would like to see them. The manual did not help at all and I had to go to the internet on numerous occasions to find the answers. Still trying to find answers on how to transfer my shows to my Tablet as it proclaims can be done but so far no luck. I didn't even know how to turn the dang thing off until I googled the question, manual didn't say anything. It doesn't turn off but stays on 24/7, seems that will tough on the lifespan. TV Guide feature is nice but some other features you have to turn off, Tivo thought it would be nice to start recording things it thought I liked without even asking. All in all it is way better than paying $100 per month to have HD Cable, specially when I can find cable based shows on Hulu and Netflex.

I have had TiVo for many years and this is a great product. TiVo always seems to add great features to new units. Go for the 1 TB version of the Bold. ITs worth the extra recording capacity. Highly recommended.
