Would not enjoy tv as much without my new TiVo. I use it all the time and would not want to give it up.

I travel often and this allows me to download shows to my iPad for viewing on the plane or to watch any show live or recorded in my hotel room on my TiVo at home.

The Tivo Stream worked fine out of the box. It was easy to setup and configure. The Tivo app on my iPad saw it, configured itself, and was streaming video from my Tivo right away.

Use a lot to watch my recordings on my iPad in bed. Was originally torn between this and mini, but chose this for the versatility. Some reviews above mention only works with some programs, but that is only an issue for moving the program to iPad, not for streaming.

This works in theory, but too many shows won't download because of copywriters.

I hooked it up to my network. Next to the TiVo Roamio in my tv cabinet. I have an Ethernet port coming from my office there and all my devices connect to it using a small switch. Tech support said that they do Not support using switches. I tried moving the TiVo stream to my office, where my main router is, but it did not work either. What a shame, it was a good concept. I returned it.

I picked up this device last July before I went on vacation. I tend tor record a lot of television shows but I'm almost never home. This device has been a godsend since I got it. I'm able to watch whatever I want, whenever I want, at any time of day or night wherever I am in the country. On the days that I do get to be home, I'm able to watch my recordings outside by the pool or even in the bathroom. The iOS and Android app works great, it's well designed, and has spectacular picture and sound quality.

This device is a great idea in theory. The ability to take programs that you have recorded on your TiVo and offload them onto an external device like your iPad or iPhone is a great idea. Unfortunately TiVo (just like all cable and satellite providers) don't yet have the authorization to allow programs that are recorded on a DVR to be offloaded onto an external device for viewing outside of the home. These restrictions are on just about every program on cable and will prevent you from moving any of them to external devices. If you are looking to watch your programs from your TiVo to an external device while in your home, this device is great for that. I don't see a lot of use for that feature, but it is there. Pros -Great idea in theory -Ability to stream content to external device while in home network -Easy to set up Cons -Can't currently offload programs to external devices for viewing outside of the house (due to programmer restrictions, not TiVo's fault) -Pricey device for minimal benefit.

Set-up took a while, but was very simple. I was amazed to see it actually work. The streaming feature in neat, but I bought it because I wanted to download shows to my iPad to take on the go. I was nervous because I had read stuff about not being able to download shows because of copy right protection. So far I have not had an issue with that. I have downloaded shows from MTV, Oxygen, and Bravo. The only problem I have encountered is in the middle of the show it will randomly close out (almost like it lost the signal). All you have to do is start the show again and it resumes where you left off, but it is slightly annoying. Over all I really like this product and am glad I purchased it!!!

    Changed my life

I travel for work every week and need to take my shows on the go to stay caught up. Previously I was using Roxio Toast to transfer shows from my TiVo onto my Mac, then converting the files to put on my iPad. It was a pain and not always reliable. When I recently upgraded to Mountain Lion, it stopped working altogether. TiVo stream came along just in time! I'm taking shows on flights, and also streaming when I'm home, in the kitchen or outside on the deck. I rarely watched my old converted shows at home because I had to plan ahead to get them downloaded to the computer, converted, and then onto my device. Now I can decide to play a show on the spur of the moment! One thing that would make it better is a button to back up 10 or 30 seconds. It's pretty hard to back up just a little bit if you missed something.

Good device but may be crippled by provider

When I switched to my current cable provider from Comcast a year ago, they replaced my old clunky Comcast cable boxes with these nice TiVo DVRs. While TiVo isn't perfect, it is a huge upgrade from Comcast boxes. The one thing I've always wanted though was to be able to stream shows recorded on my DVR to my devices. That's when my cable provider recommended getting a TiVo Stream. After doing much research I finally decided to get one. The setup process is very easy although unnecessary lengthy. I took the box out, plugged in the power and the ethernet. Then it took about 15 minutes updating the software and another 10 minutes or so activating. I was very impressed by how fast it starts to stream and the quality I was getting. However, sometimes I get a "streaming error" but in general it's been smooth. The disappoints started when I tried to use the "out of home" streaming feature but was not able to. It took a while of figuring out but eventually I found out it's because my cable provider has disabled that feature. So overall, this device is pretty neat but be sure to check with your provider before purchasing so you know exactly what features you will actually be able to use.

    Bugs need fixing

The tivo stream is great now that you can bring your shows on the go and if you have a pad can watch your shows in rooms that dont have a tv. Especially if you want to watch the game while working in the garage. I think for $130 they should have added a slingbox type feature which would enable you to download your shows remotely or via cellular(then add a even lower resolution that would be cropped for mobile traveling). *** Now the bad and why Tivo should look at this and get some fixes going or have their employees use this product to get faster feedback to them and make some fixes****.1) Every few times you start the app on your i device and try to download a show it will have to reconnect to the tivo stream as there is an error and this takes a minute. 2) When you play a show it will give an error playback 1-3 times before starting the show. 3) When you stop a show or your screen shuts off due to the time that you have set you have to start the show all over instead of being given the choice to RESUME- WHY THIS IS NOT AN OPTION I DONT UNDERSTAND. For these reasons I feel that it is still a beta product and they are charging a premium price for the device. If Tivo fixes this and adds a slingbox type feature without charging it would be a good purchase. Till then it should be $79 tops. If anyone else is having issues please post your comments so Tivo is aware. Dont get me wrong its a great compliment to the Tivo but they have some bugs and features to work out to make the experience even better.

It is a great devise but I wish it would not record what I stream live to my I Pad. Also keep in mind it will not stream outside of your home network. It won't stream like a Sling Box (wish it would). It also takes some time to setup on my home network.

    Tivo Streamer Works As Expected

Works Great... I just had one small (OK maybe a medium hurdle) to jump over first. I received this device as a Christmas preasent. I was excited because now everyone would be able to watch their recorded shows whenever they wanted. The setup shows that the Tivo box and the streamer both need to be plugged into my home wireless router. My problem was that the Tivo box and my wireless router are in to different areas of the house. To add to that I use the Tivo wireless adapter that also needs to plug into the ethernet port as the programming connection instead of a dialup service. I don't even have a dialup service in my house. Belkin had the answer for that. They have an adapter with an ethernet port that will plug into a wall outlet and you can use your existing home wireing to make network connections. FANTASTIC!!! I plugged one in the basement near my wireless router and plugged the other in upstairs near the Tivo box. I had to put the Tivo streamer in the basement because that where the router is and as soon as it powered up the Tivo app on my iPad went straight through the activation process with no trouble. Everyone in the family gives this a 2 thumbs up and we are all enjoying our recorded shows anywhere in the house at any time....
