I went into this purchase blind, I knew Tokyo Xanadu was an RPG and that was about it. The story so far has managed to keep me in and I feel like I am just getting started. Presentation is top notch, I was hoping for it to be on par of Trails of Cold Steel and it is better. If you are an action RPG fan and like a modern Tokyo setting, then this is for you!

So reminiscent of trails minus the combat but the life and the walking around is similar.

I nabbed this when it was on sale. I did like it very much. It's has a sort of a Persona-esque gameplay and style, but not as polished. The EX version is probably the way to go, but I just wanted to add this to my collection.

Because Trails of Cold Steel 3 isn't out yet

This is very blatantly pulling from Trails of Cold Steel with a setting pulled right out of Persona with action combat comparable to Ys. It's entirely derivative, but still well put together. As someone whose favorite game of all time is Persona and whose second favorite JRPG series is Trails, I fully enjoyed myself with this, but it certainly brings nothing new to the table.

For anyone who has played any of the trails of cold steel games are in for an action packed game with the same graphics as the old mainstays. I would recommend this to anyone who loves JRPG's and wants a good game to jump into to satisfy that itch.

Overall, I would say that this is an enjoyable JRPG on the Vita. The story, gameplay, and graphics are solid but never really reach the heights of something like Persona 4 Golden on the same system. The biggest issue I would say is that the game eventually becomes a bit too easy which makes dungeons feel a bit stale.

I'm only a few hours in, so no spoilers or big story elements here, buuuut I'm having a bit of trouble really getting IN to the game. It's very clunky and awkward, but manageable. Then again, I also feel like I'd rather not pick it up and play again, so there's that to consider. The PS4 version is a vast improvement (so I've heard) on all this, so perhaps go that route unless you're looking to complete a Vita collection?
