This is a great movie giving us a little insight into the early life of J.R.R. Tolkien. I think many reviewers and critics have forgotten that his is a dramatization of his life and not a documentary. It is a very well directed, well acted and basically true to his early life. Is it a perfectly accurate depiction? No. Is it highly entertaining and a good overview of Tolkien's early life? Yes I would recommend this to everyone. Especially Tolkien fans who are willing to take the movie for what it is. A dramatic movie about a great novelist who's life is as interesting as his books.

The movie I feel brought out thing about Mr. Tolkien that I did not Know about his life , I have read all his books and have all the movie made about his books but this was a great telling of his life before the books.

Very good movie about the life of the author of Hobbit. Like other have said in their reviews is that this movie has very hard to find and that Best Buy was the only one who had it and was region 1.

I always knew the books came from the authors life experiences and faith, it was fasinating to see it portrayed on the big screen. It is a keeper,!!!!

So glad to own a copy of this. This is a fantastic film. Great story, Well written, well directed, good acting. I’m excited to watch it again, I haven’t watched it since 2019 in theaters. This is a must watch for any true Tolkien fan. This is not just for your average Lord of the Rings fan. You won’t find any dragons or epic battles against Sauron’s armies. But this is for those who love Tolkien the writer and want to see his story and how came to be the great writer of such epic stories. Great film.

A well-done exploration of Tolkien's early life, and how he became the man who wrote his famous books. Early poverty, education, and deep romance were key elements, but World War I had a large role. His circle of school friends, and what the war put them through, are portrayed movingly. The movie ends before he writes his stories of Middle Earth, but this film makes clear how he came to write them.

If you are a Lord of the Rings fan, this movie is a must watch. It shows the struggles of an author from a young man who conceived such a remarkable tale for those fantasy fans to read and now watch through a fantastic adaptation of the books into movies. This movie was well-done and brings life to his books in a more concrete understanding. Of course, it was available at Best Buy. Thanks

A film about a man of legendary works. This is not the film. I understand the concept the director was going for. Feel the film was to choppy. It’s hard for a person who doesn’t know Tolkien to be introduced by this film. My husband couldn’t follow the film. I was very disappointed. If you’re a fan. You might want to rent and make your own decision.

This is a good addition to any Tolkien movie collection. There was so many interesting things I didn't know. Just getting the feel for a little bit about what his mind was like was really fun. Thankfully not an overwhelming amount of crazy movie C.G.I. references but just enough to spark the imagination.

This has less dwarves than the last one. Some people will like that. Not me. I liked all the dwarves. Kili and Kili and Bifur and Bofur and even Bombur... Just because it's different and didn't come out when you were 11 does not mean it is bad - yes... I am looking at you, LOTR fans.
