    Very difficult to use

To say I hate this unit is being nice!!!!! It's very difficult to use and very hard to select things while underway. If I spend an hour programing my route it's not bad. It tends to be wrong a lot of the time. It tells me to keep driving when I'm in the parking lot of the place I was tring to find. It also says it can't find a lot of locations in the big city. It couldn't even find the Convention Center in Minneapolis. It said it did not exist!!!! I would call it always lost. I purchased a Garmin 275 and it actually finds places and it's easy to use!!!

I have looked at GPS units and read consumer reviews on all of them and talked to alot of different people who own a GPS. The Tom Tom was recommended to me as being reliable and easy to use. I am not disappointed with the recomendation. I have programmed in several different routes and intentionally made incorrect turns to test the unit. The 930 recalculates amazingly fast and puts you back on track. The sound quality is good. The other main thing that is nice is the amount of information that is available to you in the information bar at the bottom of the screen. The only thing that I have found to be a little annoying is that the complete user manual is only available on line, but can be printed which is what i have done. It is good that Tom Tom is making an effort to reduce papaer usage.

    not so good

This unit looks nice and would be best suited for someone that uses it on a limited basis. I found the unit rebooting often and was very poor at giving an accurate eta. This unit is not the worst, however, I feel that for the money, it should be MUCH BETTER. I dont like being a 500.00 beta tester. Software updates are plentiful as are cool replacement voices "Darth Vader" and other helpful things. I had no problems with the voice recognition feature amd found the traffic updated to be adaquate. All and all, if this unite were 300.00 I'd live with it. For 500.00 it needs to be returned.

The dim display is mitigated by the ability to use this product inside the car away from the windows. I can hold the product on my lap and keep it out of the sunlight - and it still holds the satellite signal. I am very happy with this product. It connects with satellites very quickly and holds the signal very well. It is very easy to use.

I had a garmin before this one, but I was not happy about having to switch pages to get all the information such as total distance to distination. When I found the TomTom I was so excited about all the information on the screen I did not take the time to check it in the sun light and I am very disappointed in the glare on the screen.

TomTom 930 is junk and the tech support is worse

Please don't waste your money, I had this unit one day and out of the box the maps were out dated and it would not charge, The USB charging cradle also had a crack on it. When I called Tech Support I was treated like dirt, they were rude and said their 930 model was not support by Vista 64 and that TomTom home would not loud properly so I could not get a map update The Tech ( Manager ) stated I Should have purchased something else or another brand. When I asked her what I should do she stated " WHO KNOWS " When I first called in and asked to speak to a manager I was told that the Managers are NOT up to date and that I may be wasting my time. The remote control is also a piece of junk and the documentation on how to load the batteries is a Joke. After this phone call I took back both units back as I purchased two of them. TomTom needs to learn some things about Customer Service and respect, Don't buy this product!!

Bad Product/ Bad Company/ Poor customer service

TomTom has poor customer service and will not help resolve your problems with your product if out of warranty period. Their warranty is not good and their customer service is terrible. My gps does not work now and they will not do anything about it. It's only a year old and already has gone bad. I'm know stuck with a useless $600 gps. Don't buy from TomTom. I'm now looking for another gps and their warranty coverage and customer service will be priority number one. Garmin sounds like they have good customer service from what I have researched. I wish I had known this before I wasted the money. I hope this helps someone else. I always read the reviews and count on them before I buy something from Best Buy. To anyone who has a TomTom, it may be working good now but, when it breaks, you will be out of luck. Sincerely

Love My Tom Tom 930. I travel to 20 different address a day. With gas prices the way they are this thing is paying for itself. Well worth the money. Only problem I have is when putting in an address using voice input. It doesn't always get the numbers right. This Tom Tom is very fast with updates when you miss your turn.
