Customers recognize that Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5 has positive aspects such as enjoyable gameplay, intuitive controls, and a great soundtrack. However, many feel the game is significantly hampered by repetitive gameplay, numerous glitches, and a high price point relative to the content offered. The level design also received criticism for being uninspired. While some players enjoyed the online features, the lack of a story mode was a point of contention.

Had really high hopes for this game, being a long time fan of the thps games, but this one was kind of a let down. Some of the missions are fun but that's about it. Ugly graphics for next gen, almost ps2ish. 7 gig update fresh out the package to fix bugs that are still there. Really wish the developers would have taken time to make this game great.

I'm a Tony Hawk Pro Skater fan since day one. I've played every game from the THPS franchise. So I have been waiting for a new THPS game for some time now.
With that said I do not enjoy writing massive reviews for a video game, but in this case I might have to write more than usual. So many reviews out there are completely negative and unfair towards THPS5. Let me explain the pros and cons toward this half complete game.
PROS:
1) The game does have potential of being the best THPS game with respect to current generation hardware
2) A hybrid THPS game with the best from THPS through THPS4 with a little of THUG, THP8, THAW, and THPG
3) It is like playing THPS and THPS2 on steroids
4) Graphics are decent with an arcade and cartoonish style
5) The game might receive free updates to improve user experience. A massive 7GB update was released on the release date; which gives me some hope that the developers are still actively working on THPS5.
CONS:
1) This game seems to be rushed and incomplete compared to previous THPS games; I was sold a beta!
2) Since this game is a hybrid it does not seem to flow as smooth as I would expect
3) Music selection in the game does not exist. Would it be difficult to allow us to change songs?
4) Load screens seem to be everywhere; even though they last a few seconds.
5) If you fail during a mission and would like to restart the mission instantly... it is not instant!
6) I have a hard time finding players to play with online since no one wants to play this game
7) Create a player does not really exist.
8) This game cost full price...
I love the THPS franchise and I hope they can fix this game before it goes completely down into a grave. I will continue to play THPS5 because it is a fun game, it has decent music playing randomly, and it is not a broken game, only incomplete compared to other THPS games; especially the original four games.
However, I do recommend this game if you have the money to spare because it will eventual become something, I hope. If you do not have the money to burn at the moment, then wait until it is half price or free on black Friday.

This game brings back the nostalgic feeling for those who used to play the older tony hawk games. Its easy to learn, and uses similar controls as the older games. It is a pretty simple game. If you want something you can just escape in for a bit, this is a decent option. I wouldn't call it an amazing game, but its fun.

I did not encounter the plethora of glitches and bugs being reported online and for the most part had a relatively smooth experience while playing the game. The exception to this was in the Asteroid Belt level where numerous times my character would stop grinding mid combo for no apparent reason. This led to a great deal of frustration during various missions. This lack of testing and oversight is really uncalled for and makes you question whether the game really could have benefited from a delay. Nonetheless, there is fun to be had in the new Pro Skater 5. Old fans of the series will find the well designed levels to please their combo urges and may even enjoy some of the nostalgia it brings. Newcomers to the series, maybe hold off until a good sale price comes along.

Im glad I purchased this game during the holiday discount. Took off 2 stars because of the disappointment of the quality of graphics. I felt this game should be on ps3 maybe even ps2 because it does not keep up to standard ps4 realism. The skaters look almost like 2d cut outs pasted onto a background environment. I had expected the scenery elements such as the ramps, the rails, and other basic details to be sharp and realistic. Overall i love the freeskating and build a park.

This game doesn't live up to the classic tony hawk 1 and 2 games. It isn't' bad, but it isn't worth $50

If you loved classic tony hawk games this will bring back that feeling and with the latest updates I have had no issues yet like others have complained about. You can even be the ninja turtles!
The bad part is that there always feels like something is missing. It just doesn't feel as complete our as fun as the old games did. This is only my opinion but for the price I paid on sale ($20) I feel like the game is worth that.

When the game 1st came out it was very sluggish. The character would shoot across the floor or above the roof when you would fall...totally a fail i know and you can see this by youtube videos...Though about a week ago they had a huge update/patch and there are no more issues..the game plays perfect though the graphics are much to be desired for, but regardless the game is fun..

No.. the graphics aren't up to par with other PS4 games. Yes, it could be a lot better as some of the other reviewers are saying. But this game is still a lot of fun to play! If you grew up playing the original TH games as a kid/young adult, you will enjoy this game. Its basically the same format with a few new twists. Just wait for a good sale price.

Per my daughter, who loved his previous games, she wasnt all that impressed. She actually decided to trade it in. She did some research on the game but wanted to see for herself if it was good or not.

If you have been a fan of the Tony Hawk series, then this game is good enough. It could've been better, and it is a bit buggy, however, if you loved the original games, this one should suffice.

I was really looking forward to this game playing it on a next generation system. The graphics look better then a PS3 but I was really expecting more stunning visuals. Nevertheless, the game play is fun and very addicting. My son and I enjoy playing this game.

Not like the old tony hawk games. This one restricts you to smaller areas where the old tony hawk games had huge open worlds to do tricks and complete quests.

I expected more from this franchise is on a next-gen system. There were glitches when first released but a lot of those seem to be resolved. Not a ton of new features. Time killer basically.

Not much has changed since the PlayStation 2 Tony Hawk games. Graphics are terrible for the game. Not very much you can do in terms of controlling your player or customizing. Not very fun

So this game is still fun but it is identical to the pro skaters in the past. Even the graphics are a let down. For the game being so amazing in 1998 and 1999 it was a let down.

While the game aims to feel more like the original Tony Hawk Pro Skater games, it falls a little short and plays more like Tony Hawk HD, which is still a fun and entertaining game!
