After purchasing this TV on Black Friday, we were really happy with it. However, this past week, it started overheating and the screen would go black. Thank goodness for the protection plan I purchased with it, I can get a replacement. Too bad I'll be looking for a different brand.

Got it on Thanksgiving for $200, so wasn't expecting much. Was able to get 4K by connecting a 2014 MBP retina 13 through HDMI. Since the picture was too bright for me, I adjusted the back light, brightness and contrast to around 50-70%. It looked ok for a while then started to notice black tints. Reminded me of a 20 year old CRT display. I am not sure if it was the settings or the input (I was casting low res videos) or if it is the TV itself. Sound is really loud.

Black Screen

Worked great for years. The television will now play correctly for a few minutes, then the screen will turn black but the sound will continue. I have followed every YouTube “fix”, but the problem persists. Looking online, this is VERY common with Toshiba TVs.

Well, once I had the TV for a year and didn't have a problem. Then I notice the brightness was changing from bright to dark. Then it was going off and on at random. Till now the eighteen month we had it. The back light of the screen went out and still have sound. Looked online about the issue and some said "It's a power board issues."

Black Friday Disappoint

Stood in line 2 1/2 hours and spent another 2 hours putting together this disappointing product. If you're a tv viewer who prefers to watch in 4:3 Format & Red,White, Yellow cable hookup then this is not the tv for you. The left and right side of the screen gets cropped off an inch. Verified with an Emerson tv I bought 2 years ago. The input changes back to Google Chromecast after you turn off tv so you have to re-enter A/V input everyday. The edge of the screen looks blurry especially the lower right corner where it looks like there is a 6 inch foggy triangle formed. The top middle has small halos too. Plus I never bought a tv where the red "standby" light shuts off in the middle of the night. Worried that one day the whole tv will not turn on because of this. Poor viewing angles make this tv not good for the main living room. Giving a review of 2 because the sound is above average. Will probably cut my losses and return it for a full refund.

Bad Product!

We bought a 43" Toshiba TV Model 43L621U for our breakfast area so we can watch TV during meal times. We bought the TV on 2/27/2017 and last night (10/2/2019), a little over 2.5 years since purchase, the TV screen developed a line across the lower 1/3 of the screen. The lower part of the screen has double images and since yesterday, the line seems to have gradually moved up the screen. The other brands of TV that we bought has lasted years and years (in fact over 15 years+), we were very disappointed with Toshiba's performance. When I called Best Buy Service Dept as well as Toshiba Support, they both asked me if I have purchased an extended warranty which we didn't in which we kind of glad that we did not spend extra money to extend the warranty for another year. The TV broke down after 2 years and I would be out for over $100 for an extended warranty. All and all, this TV sucks. Stay away from it and find another brand.

Not real "smart"

I carefully read the specs and features before ordering. But was very disappointed to hook it up and discover that this is NOT a smart TV. The Best Buy feature page describes it as "smart enabled" and wirelessly stream netflix and other online services. Not the case. Need to stream through a wireless device (ipad, smart phone, etc) and I'd never have bought if had understood that. The description needs to be changed. Returning it this week and purchasing a true smart TV.

The picture is dead

The issue with picture as many faced (the logo of tv comes and the picture doesn’t) happened to me as well after 2 years . When checked with a technician, he quoted me $345 to fix it . The cost of the tv was $199. This was a very sad ending to a cheap tv which is assumed would be good as it is associated with Best Buy. Really disappointed and surprised to see many people faced the same issue and still neither Best Buy nor Toshiba doing anything about it to fix their reputation.

Beware This Toshiba TV

I waited on line Thanksgiving day to pick this set up for $199. Having purchased high and low end TV's in the past, I knew what I was getting into with a $199 set. You can't expect high end quality at that price point. However, you should be able to expect a TV that's at least watchable. This TV had the worst back lighting I've ever seen. Uneven to say the least, and two halos at the bottom that simply never went away no matter what I did within the settings. When you're watching bright programming, it's not a problem - the picture is actually pretty good - but once the scene got dark I immediately noticed the halos. It was very distracting. Again, I realize this is a "get what you pay for" situation but I was hoping that after BB put this on the front page of their Black Friday ad and I waited 2 hours outside the store the set would at least meet an acceptable level of quality. No such luck.

Worse TV We ever bought

We bought this in 2017. We now have no picture. Talked to Toshiba support and told that 3 years is old for a TV. To have it checked by Geek Squad, it would be $250. Just to check. Seniors can’t afford this. We have a Samsung that is 10 years old and still working. No more Toshiba products for us!

Chrome Cast is horrible

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
We purchased this TV less than a year ago and a few months ago, the Chrome Cast stopped working. It won't recognize the connection. There's no way to fix it unless we pay Best Buy to come out and fix it. Also, since they offer the bare minimum of customer support, we can't exchange the TV. Don't wast your money and because of this situation, they've lost a customer.

Bought the tv from humble branch and found broken screen. Went back to the store and showed it to the manager who behaved so rude and refused return. Had to put it in the garbage.

Gremlins with flashlights.

Have better knowledge with monitors and all of them are also better quality then this. My only other tv is an old Sanyo with ccfl backlighting. The blacks are better then this and has very even backlighting. This tv has great colors and image quality, but the backlighting is horrendously uneven, it seems like their are gremlins in the tv with flashlights. Contrasts are very weak, grey blacks, and dull whites. Had to return this panel it is cheaper then my eight year old Sanyo. Returned after two days of adjusting whites, contrasts, colors, gamma, backlighting, and everything else of value with no remedy. My best recommendation is to save a few more hundred dollars for something with better contrast ratio or a good 1080p, then these cheap panels they all over with many different names. Even in a dark room it is hard to enjoy a good movie. No review on sound used a hd receiver for my audio needs.
