Faulty TVs & Poor Customer Service

    Posted .

I bought this TV back in December because it was a good price for a 4k TV and the reviews I read were pretty good. 2 days into using the TV the built in chrome cast wouldn't stay connected to the internet or devices. I went to the Best Buy in my town to see if I could get it exchanged and the man at customer service turned me away because they didn't have any TVs of that model in the store and refused to call other stores to see if they could hold one if they had any in stock. I drove to a town about 30 miles away hoping they would still have one in stock to exchange mine with. When I got there they told me that if I wanted the TV I would have to go find it in the store myself. Once I found it they told me I had to carry it myself to the front of the store in order to exchange it. A few weeks after getting it home the picture began to mess up, looking fuzzy and pixelated and sometimes when I would try to turn it off the sound turns off and the picture keeps going and I have to physically unplug it to turn it off. Also sometimes the image will go black but the back light will stay lit and again I will have to unplug it to get it to turn completely off. I went back to the store to ask if I could get it exchanged again or just return it for my money back because of having 2 of the same TVs mess up within a 2 month period and they told me I could bring it in to ship it off to be fixed. I also called to make sure this is what I was to do and they confirmed it. So I unmount it from my wall, take off the brackets for my wall mount, box it back up and drive back to the store with it and when I went inside they told me it was too big to ship out because of the shipping cost and that I would need to take it back home and call a phone number to to have a technician come out and work on it. Naturally I'm annoyed by this point and try to call the Best Buy corporate customer service center to see if there were any other options because I'm fed up with it by now and they tell me that I will have to speak to the manufacturer to see if I can get it replaced or refunded. So I call Toshiba and I get an automated message that says they no longer offer phone support on TVs and I will have to go online for support. I go online and the support consists of the manual, marketing sheet, warranty and a guide to smart cast which none are what I need. All in all I've spent $450 to be led in circles, deal with poor customer service and have much of my time wasted.

    Great Purchase for the Price

This tv is a great 4k tv for the price. You really can't beat it. It doesn't have HDR but then again, it was cheap. I've had other Toshiba tvs in the past and have loved them which, between that and the price pushed me to purchase this tv and I have loved it so far.

A good tv for the price. I haven't watched any programming in 4K but the 1080 looks great. Has one pixel that's bad and one time it just went black and took awhile to turn off. Hopefully this is not indicative of future problems but so far so good.

The picture looks pretty darn good, however the sound quality is terrible. The speakers rattle if you have any type of explosions or music broadcasting. I thought I'd hook up my Sound Surround system to make up for the poor sound quality, However, this TV does not support it. Also, the Smart features aren't really that smart, Chromecast is pretty much the entire smart feature. If you are on a super tight budget, then this tv is OK, but if you have around $200, more to spend, spend it, get another TV. I returned this one and got myself a Smart 4k Sony tv, absolutely love it, paid 1k, but that includes 5 year Geek Squad. My old Plasma lasted 8 years, so I didn't mind dropping the extra cash.

Solid 4K for the price. Kids love the sharp picture and good color. Lower 60 refresh rate shows at times. I can see it, but nobody else here even knows what that means. I've had other Toshiba's in the past and they have been solid brand.

Great tv, great value. Works great, beautiful picture. The only complaint is the remote, which most people won't even need. My mom doesn't have a cable box so she needs a good remote. So I replaced the one it came with with a universal remote.

4K Res is all the rage right now. When it came time to upgrade a monitor I use for presentations, this was a natural choice. I have no regrets. The picture is crystal clear. Console games look great. Anything plugged into the HDMI ports come through sharp and crisp. The Chromecast, however, is the one small stumbling block. I've tried a few different configurations. Both on the client and the Chromecast itself. For some reason, small text (about 10-12 pt font is the smallest I've tried) presents as fuzzy. This isn't a huge problem if you're more than a couple feet away; but if you're one of those folks that likes to Cast from the front row, you're going to see some slightly fuzzy text. Otherwise it's a giant screen that displays sharp images and has beautiful contrast. What's not to love?

We had intended to purchase a 50 inch 1080p model to save money. This was a much better value. 2160 upscaling is excellent,.movies I have watched hundreds of times seem brand new. Sound system is great at high volume but voices are muddy at lower levels, fortunately there is a "CLEAR VOICE" feature in the menu that solves the problem. TV has a little stutter with high detail broadcast and sports, but I am nearly certain it is my cable signal and not the TV. 16 days after purchase my unit had a 'freakout" and stopped responding to the remote control. this was complicated by the fact that there is only one button on the actual TV. we had to unplug it for a full five minutes before it reset. this is our third and likely our last Toshiba TV. Great value, feature packed, no soundbar needed.

So this TV was a replacement for a broken Hisense that I bought. This one has a great picture. Took a little setup (especially since it sort of pushes you to setup the Google Cast which is not needed... skip it if you don't have Android Google devices). Out of the box, the picture is great (didn't need to fiddle with it at all). The only issue I have it is the speakers. I have a sound bar so it's no big deal, but if you have a medium sized room, it becomes very difficult to push sound and once you do push the volume way it, it then seems a bit too loud. Get a sound bar and this is a great tv for the price. I got it during the holiday sale for $399 so it was a win for a 55" 4K. I think it's a very good purchase for those that want to move to a 4K tv without paying over $1000.

We picked this up on sale. Nice size TV and we've grown to like the Toshiba brand. Picture is vivid, clear and we can appreciate the latest technology. We were a little worried about the refresh rate but nothing noticeable.

I had to replace a Dynex 49' flat screen t.v, so when I seen this Toshiba 55' for the price, I thought it was a great purchase. Comes with chromecast and the picture is really nice. I am happy with this purchase.

Great tv for the price. But tv is not perfect. Downfall of tv is that it acts up and turns off at random times. But it is a rare occasion that it happens. So im pretty happy with the price I paid.

We got a 55" Ultra 4K Smart TV for under $500. The picture is great. Can't believe we got something that looks this good for that price. We were pleasantly surprised. It's also loaded with options seeing as it's a smart tv as well. This has to be the most cost effective tv on the market when you factor in the quality you're getting at this price.

The TV has very fluid image, it's very solid material. Comes well protected in the box. The sound is amazing, built in oynko speakers. The remote is compact. The Built in chromecast works fine. The Quality of the TV exceeded all my expectations, I can recommend anyone who is looking for a great tv and not willing to break the bank this tv.

This tv is good enough. Besides the fact that when i first opened it a yellow line was down the screen, it had a decent picture. The trick to this certain tv though is its a Best Buy tv made by Toshiba which means there is no Toshiba warranty. So you have the 15 days to go through Best Buy or buy the Geek squad warranty. I didnt know this so thankfully my tv did mess up early enough and they easily exchanged it for me in store. The chromecast is a pain more often than not but it does work fine. You really need to have a decent knowledge of technology to use it. Most people will have a little trouble with the issues that come with this tv. For me, it was worth the cost though.

This 4k has a great picture and good sound. My only complaint is that sometimes it reboots itself for no reason like it's just been turned on. Also, I have to make sure that anything connected to the hdmi port like an Android TV streaming box is completely turned off before I turn the TV off for the night or it will automatically turned itself on and default to the hdmi port that it's connected to. I don't know if this is a software issue but since don't see anyone else mentioning the same problems. I have to believe it's just my TV that's doing it. The previous aren't that much of a problem to warrant returning it. So I'll just adapt to the annoyances for only $400.00 it cost.

I wanted a bigger TV w/a clearer picture but didn't want to spend $800. I was a little skeptical on this brand but read the reviews & was surprised to see nothing but positivity so decided to get it. Everything works perfectly & it does what it says it'll do. The only negative remarks I found abt it were the remotes being too small. In this day & age, who uses the TV remote anymore (I use the one provided by my cable com. or I'll buy a universal rem.). Anyway if u value yr money like I do, this is the way to go, NO DOUBT!
