Not easy to work with a Mac

I called Toshiba Customer Support and they said that I had to reformat the hard drive for it to work. But when I asked Support how to reformat it, they emailed me a link to instructions from Mashable, a totally different site. Toshiba doesn't have their own instructions? Very odd. It still didn't work so I returned the drive.
