Called the Toshiba help desk, no help. Not a computer expert but normally have no issues with things like this in the past. Would try a different brand.

Posted .Thank you for the review, Tobie, and sorry to hear that you had some sort of problem using the Canvio Slim II drive.
This unit is plug and play and is formatted to the Windows NTFS format so should be immediately available as an external storage device when connected to any Windows PC. For use with a Mac OS product one would typically use Disk Utility to reformat the drive to a native Mac OS format.
If the drive proves to be defective you can initiate the warranty replacement process at acclaim.toshiba.com anytime during the warranty period.

Only downside is that the security software that's included needs to be downloaded onto a thumb drive so that it can be installed on other computers if you use your Toshiba drive on more than one machine.
