The only drawback is the need to buy a CD/DVD/Bluray external rom. The 4K output is exceptional and the 5th generation I7 processor if fast. This laptop can multitask with the best of them & has the memory to not worry about upgrades. It's extremely potent for a gamer & the HD screen is vivid & robust.... I'm quite pleased with the overall performance of this Toshiba laptop, and I'm glad I pulled the trigger on purchasing it!

Annoying CPU fan sound

I am using this product for my analytic practice which require high memory and CPU speed. Only drawback is annoying CUP fan sound, I am not satisfied with this issue. If I use the battery option "Balanced(advised)" then fan starts automatically for a small work also. I have changed this option to "eco" which is Toshiba built in feature. Toshiba has to fix this problem. CPU fan should start only when system heat up.

I am running multiple programs at one time on split external screens and it can slow down and not respond. Then it catches up again. Toshiba does make a good product though.

||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I needed something to take with me on an extended trip, and I didn't want to spend $4,000 on a new Mac laptop (including software), so I opted for a new Intel i7, 12 Mb, 1 Tb PC, w/ upgraded AMD Radeon graphics Toshiba and Windows 8.1(free upgrade to Windows 10 in a month). Nothing has changed in all these years, not even close to the reliability, function, user-friendly, common sense, trouble free Macs I've owned for almost 30 years. Oh well, not to worry, it will likely crash & burn in a year or so, and then I'll get back to a real laptop computer.

Sometimes a computer may seem to be broken when actually Windows has become corrupted and the problems can be resolved by configuration changes or by performing a Windows Reset. You can find detailed instructions for performing a Windows Reset in the following Toshiba Forums community knowledge base article and embedded video: http://forums.toshiba.com/t5/System-Recovery-and-Recovery/How-To-Understanding-System-Restore-Refresh-Reset-and-Recovery/ta-p/342690
If the Windows Reset process resolves the problems, run Windows Update and make sure it is configured to only install "Important" updates (not "optional" updates.) General driver and utility updates should only be sourced from Toshiba, either at support.toshiba.com or using the Toshiba Service Station app.

Don't waste time or money

It's a nice computer but has a design flaw that doesn't allow you to use the keyboard. I called support and was told to take it back. After getting a new one that does the same thing I know it is a flaw that Toshiba needs to address.

I wonder if you can describe for us what specific symptom or issue with the keyboard that you're referring to as a design flaw.
Generally, if a support agent recommends returning a product back to the retailer that means that they've determined that it is new and defective. We have returns agreements in place with retailers (including Best Buy) to ensure that customers have a window of opportunity to return defective products for replacement. However if it is beyond the return agreements, Toshiba also offers diagnosis and repairs within the Standard Warranty via our Support Center at 800-457-7777.
