I've noted that the specifications for this model (at support.toshiba.com/support/staticContentDetail?contentId=4007745 ) do not include Kasperski AV but, rather, a 30-day trial of McAfee LiveSafe. Also, note that Microsoft directly provides Windows 10 as a free upgrade for Windows 7 and Windows 8.x users. It seems likely that the $30 free was a service charge for performing that free update for you.

Since shoppers will often consider star-ratings without reading the contents of reviews, I hope you'll consider updating your review to let us know your level of satisfaction with the computer itself and, if you like it, also consider increasing the star rating.

You may want to update or reinstall your Wi-Fi driver with the software available at http://support.toshiba.com/support/modelHome?freeText=1200010611 -- click "Drivers and Updates" and select the "Windows 8.1" and "Wi-Fi" filters to see the relevant drivers and utilities.

If this unit has been upgraded to Windows 10 and you're encountering messages from Windows indicating "limited" or "no connectivity", or no Internet access, Toshiba and Microsoft are aware that some customers are experiencing this issue and are working together to identify a permanent solution. The resolution will automatically be downloaded and installed through Windows Update when it is available. Meanwhile, a Toshiba Technical Support Bulletin at www.support.toshiba.com/sscontent?contentId=4008443 provides detailed instructions for working around the issue until the final resolution is in place.

I wonder how long you've had the laptop because if it's brand new then it's likely that Windows Update has been busy downloading & installing updates. That's typically the case with brand new systems, and if so it will tax initial performance until the updating process is completed.

Regarding performance, while the AMD A8-Series isn't a high-performance processor it would normally be considered fully capable of handling day-to-day consumer level computing, such as email, social media, and general web browsing. Of course, the perceived speed & responsiveness of any PC will depend somewhat on the number of programs and processes currently running on the unit at any point in time, and their respective demands on various components, subsystems, and networking resources. Rebooting Windows and then checking performance after loading each individual app is one way to determine when the resource load begins to impact performance, and which apps most impact performance.
