The best Windows Laptop I loved to hate
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'll start this off by saying I'm a Mac user and still have and use a MacBook Pro 17" as my main laptop. I have, since the introduction of Windows 10 and the advent of 2 in 1 laptops, decided to come back and purchase a Windows 10 computer. I narrowed it down to two, the Lenovo Yoga 900 and the Microsoft Surface Pro 4 then I saw this Toshiba P25W-2300-4K. I fell in love with this laptop and it fit exactly the needs that I had. Additionally in it's favor it was ultra fast, looked great, and even better the SD Card fits flush in the computer and doesn't protrude out. Even better the Keyboard was great, at least for me. It was one of the best Windows laptop keyboards that I had tried especially for the smaller frame laptop and it's weight was also great. With all those accolades and great features why am I giving it a single star, claiming I hate it and yes am going to return it as I have now ordered a Lenovo Yoga 900 to replace it. The main reason is (my belief) Toshiba never should have rushed this to market before they got the bugs out. I can't say whether it's hardware, which I suspect, or internal bios or other reasons but the mouse/trackpad on this computer is entirely faulty. For one the mouse/trackpad may work one moment then in the next moment the mouse won't be able to be moved by the trackpad, furthermore if you continue typing and try and wait for it's function to return (which is does sometime) it at times starts jumping around as if someone has captured your keyboard and starts selecting various and totally random things. At times when the trackpad/mouse malfunctions it either does nothing and won't control the mouse or the mouse jumps all around the screen and moves as if it's on steroids and crack at the same time. I usually have to reset the computer and when it comes back up the mouse is working but then I might bring up EDGE browser and the mouse again stops working. It also seems that when you move from laptop to tablet mode it is very slow to react at times and other times makes me think that this might contribute to the mouse problems. A second problem which isn't as frustrating is that very often I get a notice that the display driver had to reset and that also shouldn't happen. More frustrating is that it appears that this mouse/trackpad problem may or may not easily be solved so while I love the computer I hate that such a new computer has such profound problems and issues that makes it unusable at times. Toshiba should have really spent more time before throwing this laptop to the market because if the problems were settled or cured then it would be one of the best values for a 2 in 1 computer. I really am torn about having to return this laptop because I do like it so much but I can't deal with this trackpad issue and frankly when you buy a new computer it should work and you shouldn't be told it has to be sent back for two weeks before you get it back. Should be they should just exchange it for you and for the trouble move all your stuff over to the new computer but that doesn't happen in the real world. Maybe at some point in the far distant future they will get this Toshiba working great and when they do I would recommend it highly but not now, not given these aggravating problems.. By the way the trackpad has stopped working while I typed this revew so I'll try and post it using the touch screen because if that doesn't work then I've typed a lot for nothing. And that's why I hate it so much.

Posted .Thank you for the review, gKendric, and sorry to hear about the problem with the touchpad on your Satellite Radius.
Based on your description of the symptoms, unfortunately I think it's pretty safe to say that you've got a defective touchpad, which is apparently impacting keyboard use as well.
We would agree that you shouldn't have to send a new computer out for repair and we have new product return agreements with our authorized resellers (including Best Buy) which will normally allow you to exchange a new, defective product for a replacement unit. I wonder if you've checked into that option with Best Buy.
Thanks again for the feedback and sorry for the trouble.

Great, with a major flaw
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Awesome laptop... except for an issue with the grounding of the mouse pad, which makes in pause, not work intermittently. No real fix for it but to open up computer and ground properly yourself. Great laptop otherwise.

A extremely excellent laptop but,.........
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So I read a lot of the reviews and a lot of them had some pretty negitive things to say. I will say that theres some down sides to this laptop but, nothing of note worthy mention. This laptops main competition would be a Macbook Air or a Acer s7. So first off the thing you'll notice over most of its competition is that its vastly slimmer and much lighter than the others. It features a high end premium look and feel just like a mac, acer s7 or the new HP spectra series laptops. With its odd size of 12.5 inches I feel like its perfect. Ive always preferred the smaller 10" laptops so the smaller the better for me. However this is larger without feeling bulky. I really feel like once you hit 13.3" you're getting to big for portability. The big draw here is the 4k screen. This is a double edge sword. The screen looks absolutely stunning. However you're instantly gonna notice that there needs to be tweeting to ones eyes for everything. The resolution is so high that a lot of things become unreadable. You'll also notice when you try gaming ( which this isnt a gaming laptop by any means ) that you'll run into a lot of issues running things in 4k. Theres simply not much support in 4k yet. A lot of times things just dont work. You'll almost always have to go into the properities of the .exe file and turn off dpi scaling. Youtube 4k playback is great however you'll need a very fast connection to be able to stream 4k content. Netflix and hulu havent updated to support 4k on a laptop or desktop pc yet either so no 4k there. Now heres the bad thing. Toshiba is having a seriously hard time on quality control with this things. If you buy one know that you might need to return it. You could get one thats broken right away. Dont fret once you get one that works it works and theres no issue. Second driver support. If you use Microsoft Edge for your browser except to experience crashing of the laptop. The video card drivers and Microsoft edge are very conflicting. You can almost instantly and 100% of the time crash the edge browser by reading youtube comment if you've got a google account. I've had no issue in Internet explorer or the Maxthon(very under rated browser thats super popular in china) browser I use. The over all performance and speed of the laptop is great and a very good value for its cost. Im 100% satisfied with my product and would recommend it to anyone with 1 exception. If you're not about bleeding edge technology and you're not a person who's at least moderately tech savy this isnt your pc. New cutting edge products always have the most bugs and will take time to get around on the software side of things.

Do Not Buy This Laptop
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The track pad on this laptop is horrible. If you work in the field and rely on your track pad, this will let you down. After searching for drivers or firmware updates (which there are none) I ended up returning it for the Samsung Notebook 9 Spin. Even though it was a little bigger then I wanted it has the horse power I need. Toshiba, for a $1000 laptop you could at least put a decent track pad in it.
