I purchased a more expensive computer because I was attracted to the 4k but I returned it 2 days later because the screen would flicker in full screen mode. I then purchased the Satellite because I thought it would be better to have a smaller machine for portability. The display will clip in full screen youtube videos for a while when you expand it on this computer too. Windows 10's scroll bars are so skinny that I can't even land the cursor on them when the touch pad works! The touch pad keeps sticking and the cursor gets stuck on the edge of the scroll bar or the "X" close buttons. It will flicker up and down or get stuck behind a window. If I have more than one program running, it sometimes gets hung up when I switch between windows, or maximize one. For instance, if I run a citrix spreadsheet program, and try to switch to a chrome window and back, the window will just be white or blank.. If I have multiple chrome tabs open, switch to a background program, and back to Chrome, the screen goes all white, and then fades in slowly frame by frame. This laptop was about 950 bucks after taxes. I hate wasting money on stuff that just doesn't work. OH and the battery last about 2 1/2 to 3 hours. The salesman said " it will run for 7-8 I think". Less if you're watching a movie or youtube. I haven't even tried netflix yet. I think I'm past the return window this time, so I think I'll take it up to the Best Buy parking lot and smash it into a million pieces! Who wants to see me smash my brand new $950 computer in front of Best Buy?

Don't buy Toshiba anymore

I bought this notebook. It has good specs, it is light, and it is good overall. It is noisy, be prepared. The problem is that the pointer started to freeze and unfreeze after some time (30 days) and the hinges don't work symmetrically. Best Buy said I could not return the computer anymore, and suggested that I should solve the problem with Toshiba. Toshiba doesn't even have an email or chat to help its customers (so it is more difficult to document the process). Resuming, I had to pay U$30 to ship the computer to their depot and they returned the computer with the same problems and scratched. They can't help me anymore and, about the scratches, they said it is not a major problem and will not affect the computer performance. Their call center is not in the US. That said, Toshiba once was a good option, but not anymore. And about Best Buy, I asked them for help, I heard from some friends that when the manufacturer can't help the customer, they can make their return rules more flexible (one friend returned an appliance after 11 months) but in my case they don't even want to hear the history. I send an email to the store manager (it is hard to find him in the store) but he didn't even answer me. I will never again buy anything from Toshiba, and I will never again buy any big stuff from Best Buy. Worth note that if you google it, you will find more people with the same problems, so maybe this notebook has a design problem. I am very disappointed with Best Buy. I thought it was a more serious and professional store. And a detail: this computer is an exclusive Best Buy model

So i bought this to start a business with and loved it, worked great....till now only 3 months after i bought it the mouse pad sticks and flips out to where you can only use external mouse. There is no current fix available except apparently grounding the mouse pad. So now i have to back up my info take this down to bestbuy and probably leave with an entirely different laptop

DO NOT BUY THIS LAPTOP!

This laptop is absolute garbage. The hinges on the screen feel like they are about to break every time I use them, the keyboard is spungy and has no tactile response, the memory is non upgradeable, there is an insane amount of bloatware on the computer when you first get it, the fan makes a buzzing noise if the system is not completely flat, and finally there is a major problem with the trackpad that has effected many users; including myself. At the moment I have to send this computer, that is less than half a year old, in for repairs which will take 2-3 weeks to get back. Since I use this laptop literally every day for work this is a major inconvenience and I just wish I could get rid of this terrible thing. The sad thing is there is a simple fix that I could do myself, but since the problem is with Toshiba's shotty engineering, using this fix would void the warranty because I have to take the back cover off. I have heard from many users and professionals alike to avoid Toshiba products, and I wish I listened to them because I am regretting every bit of this purchase right now. The only Pros that I can think of for this laptop are its size and weight, however, that isn't saying much since there are countless alternatives available that do this just as good or even better.
At least now I know to never buy Toshiba products again, and if you don't want to deal with the headache I am going through right now, then DO NOT buy this product.

This laptop should be a joy to use. It has great specs and features. PLEASE ANYONE CONSIDERING THIS HEAD THIS WARNING. The trac pad dose not work properly. It cuts out all the time and you need to use an wireless mouse to use this laptop. I am a photographer and videographer, I had allot of work I needed to do and they would not send me another laptop to use while mine was being fixed. That was Toshiba support. They also wanted me to pay for shipping and it could have taken a month too get back. Do not buy this. My internet also cuts out all the time I have not read that issue anywhere else. But the trackpad problem is well documented. Also this was my second one. The first one I got from best buy had a stuck cntl key and they gave me a new one on store.avoid this and Toshiba at all costs

however, this is a disappointment.
the minute I took it out of the box, the screen started having problems.
the touch does not work and all of a sudden starts changing screens, zooming in and out, it goes completely bananas!!
and the worst part of it: I bought the machine in el paso, tx and I am from brazil! I simply don't know what to do. Toshiba does not have support nor anything in here. I am stuck. I am lloking for a friend who might travel to usa to get to a best buy and try to change it. help!!

TOSHIBAS ARE THE WORST

This is my second Toshiba in my life ( I am old). The first one went through three (3) hard drives. Used HP's ever since. But for some reason I bought this one as it seemed like a good choice. FN key doesn't work neither does card reader. Support is non-existent. Toshibas are bad. I should have done more research on Web; bad user reviews everywhere.

Thank you for the review, Tommy, and sorry to hear that you had ran into a problem with your Satellite P25W-C2300-4K.
Lacking any details regarding the Fn key issue, I would just point out that pressing only a function key will execute its special feature (volume control, display switching, display brightness, etc.) If you want to trigger a legacy function key action (e.g. F5 to refresh a web browser window) you'll need to press and hold down the 'Fn' key while tapping the function key.
Regarding the card reader slot, supported memory card types include UHS-I Secure Digital, Secure Digital High Capacity, Secure Digital Extended Capacity, Mini SD, Micro SD, and Multi Media Cards. If you're trying to use some other format then it will not work.
If the problems persist and are not explained by the above info, please contact Toshiba support at 800-457-7777 or visit support.toshiba.com for further help.
Thanks for the feedback and sorry for the trouble.

out of the box i got the warning ; 'problem with cooling fan. shut down and return for service.' Also, the 4k resolution is ok, but when watching a movie, the deep blacks want to play catch up and shows up as pixelated. it gets very hot, very fast. Even though this is an intel I7 ,i expect much a better performance out of this little machine. Im returning it this weekend.

Thank you for the review, vtruth, and sorry to hear about the cooling fan issue with your Satellite P25W-C2300-4K.
While laptops can get pretty warm when running demanding applications (and all apps are more demanding when driving a 4K display), I expect the reason your unit got *very* hot is because there's a problem with the cooling fan, as reported by the error message.
Overheating issues can have all sort of side effects so there may be no other problem with your system once the fan problem gets sorted out, but we recommend having the unit replaced where it was purchased rather than sending to Toshiba for a warranty repair since you mention that the problem occurred right out of the box.
Thanks again for the feedback and sorry for the trouble.

Before I could even finish setting it up it malfunctioned. While typing it didn't display what was being typed. The shift key did not work, the "a" key came up as "A~". Very disappointed with the quality control at Toshiba. I am sure that they will eventually fix these hardware issues but for a computer that has a premium price tag this is unacceptable!

Thank you for the review, Matt, and sorry to hear that your Satellite P25W-C2300-4K seems to have a defective keyboard.
Toshiba has extensive quality controls built into our manufacturing processes. Although it's rare, occasionally something can go wrong after a unit leaves the factory. For such cases we have returns agreements in place with retailers (including Best Buy) to ensure that customers have a window of opportunity to return defective products for replacement.
Thanks again for the feedback and sorry for the trouble.

Basically good laptop, extremely bad touchpad

Purchased this laptop in March, partially based on very good experience with a previous Toshiba laptop. Soon after purchase, it became apparent there are issues with the touchpad. The touchpad freezes regularly and often, essentially every day, freezing for maybe 30 seconds to a minute. I originally assumed this was a Windows 10 issue, but I have a desktop that I loaded W10 into, no problems with pointing devices.
I have looked for and loaded new drivers, no improvement. I eventually figured out that when the touchpad is frozen, the touchscreen is still completely active, makes me think that hardware is the issue, not software.
A little online research turns up MANY other users with the same issue. Many of them recommend using a wireless USB mouse. This is a laptop folks, to me, a mouse is a nuisance. The point is portability, and a mouse requires a desktop, making this somewhat less than portable.
While I recognize this is not a top shelf machine, it is clearly not entry level either (with discounts applied, I paid $900). The faulty touchpad might be tolerable for $300, but certainly not a laptop that lists for $1000.
Otherwise, everything is quite good, small, lightweight, thin, fast, nice screen and picture, reasonable battery life, attractive design. it doesn't look cheap. Neither does it act cheap, except for the touchpad.
My previous history with Toshiba was a laptop and a projection television, both since given away. No problems with either. This laptop is an unfortunate change from those Toshiba products.
If you're considering this laptop, just don't. I've come to the point where I will be taking it back to where I bought it for refund or exchange. I had each of my last two laptops for over five years. I cannot consider keeping this laptop for that period of time. So, it is soon going back.

The touchpad does not work properly, jumping at any moment or just stop working. Well, nothing that a mouse can't solve.
However, today the battery stopped working! and It is only 8 months old!
I am outside america now, so I don't know how I am going to solve this issue.

I wanted a lighter laptop to carry to school. I was deciding between a Surface Pro and this one. I decided for this Toshiba and no regrets. The laptop runs smoothly, very fast, no noise at all. the screen resolution is amazing. So far best laptop I ever had.

The pointer freezes every five minutes, I need to wait a minute while it unfreezes. For the last 12 years I had a Fujitsu laptop and all these years never faced any problems with it. Thought all Japanese brands are reliable, that's why decided to buy a Toshiba laptop this time. This laptop was just a waste of money for me! So disappointed! Don't know what to do with it now :(
