worst phone ever
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The phone is not worth what we paid, and shuts down constantly and is not worth it! Slow to respond and speakers to phone break up nearly continually... its not like i use it for the many apps most put on thier phone... i have only a couple such as weather and coupons such as Walmart or Checkout 51 ... I limit any pics or anything so not much of anything loads to phone and took 2 days to get cloud contacts to load... very disappointed in this purchase.... Verizon in the last 2 years seemed to lower the standards of phones if this was acceptable to them...

Great phone
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Yes it only has 8gb which OS takes up a chunk. Get a SD card. Becareful of apps you use. A lot of apps (makers can spy on your phone including fb and anger birds!) I don't recommend games on phones or tablets. But this phone is good might be looking at j3 soon. The screen on this is just a little small. You can't go wrong with Samsung. And These phones are basically a computer you can do anything.

Samsung in Name Only
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased the phone about 3 weeks ago and have been consistently disappointed with it. In nearly all respects, it is inferior to the 3G Motorola phone that I purchased this to replace. As a phone user, I am a fairly light user ... calls, limited texting, some internet (mainly while on a train or waiting room) and camera. Reflecting its cost (much less than top of the line Samsungs but more expensive than other no-contract 4G phones), I had expected a pared back version of the pricier Samsungs that delivered quality core functions with less bells and whistles compared to the pricier models. Simply put, this phone performs slowly with poor quality - it is a Samsung in Name Only. Specific issues: - Keys - keys do not easily trigger when touched; need to enter PIN and manually dialed numbers multiple times due to skipped numbers or incorrect digits (I have normal hands) - Camera - very slow to take picture; pictures have significant blur even with flash - Internet - Slow upload time (comparable or slower than prior 3G phone); several instances where pages freeze - Phone - Requires multiple "clicks" to make a phone call I plan to replace this phone

Bad Phone
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My phone keeps deactivating. I have to take it to best buy to scan it about every 2 weeks. I can't make calls or text with it most of the time.It keeps giving me a message I don't have service or it has been deactivated. They've even exchanged the phone for the same phone and it does the same thing.Even if I ran out of time for data the phone and texting are unlimited well actually they are limited can't use it as a phone. Best Buy has been great about helping me.Verizon not so much.

It worked then it didn't
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The phone seemed to work fine. And then it didn't. I have had the phone for 4 months approximately then just now I went to look at it and the screen is shot. It has become unusable for no good reason. The screen has multicolored lines running vertically and horizontally and it looks like an analog tv that can't get the station. BUYER BEWARE with this phone.

not reliable
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.this phone is okay if you need it just for calls or text, but it's supposed to be a smart phone. i hate this phone and the only apps i had were facebook snapchat and uber, it always restarted on its own and would freeze a lot. i would sometimes not receive text or calls.

Poorest reception in low signal area
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Samsung j1 has the worst reception of any phone we have owned. Our galaxy8 reads3 bars, the j1 gets1. Don't buy if you are buying it for phone calls.
