Okay, so I've spent a decent chunk of time with this game on the Switch, and is like a blast from the past but with a shiny, modern coat of paint, I think this game is hitting the right notes for a lot of folks, it's one of those games that's super easy to pick up, but you'll find yourself saying "just one more try" about a hundred times before you put it down. You're this little goat, hopping around a grid, trying to cover all the tiles while dodging baddies, it sounds simple right? Well it is! but that's the beauty of it, the voxel graphics are charming as heck, kind of like if minecraft and qbert had a baby, the visuals just scream "retro done right". The gameplay is addictive, it starts off easy enough, but the difficulty ramps up nicely, throwing new enemies and obstacles your way just when you think you've got it all figured out, I found myself getting way more into it than I expected, constantly trying to beat my own high scores, the music is upbeat and fun, though I'll admit, it can get a little repetitive after a while, but honestly, the sound effects of your little goat hopping around are so satisfying, they kind of make up for it...This game is perfect for those short bursts of gaming, like when you're waiting for the bus or just need a quick break from work, also there are a bunch of different characters to unlock, each with their own little quirks, it keeps things fresh. Now, it's not perfect, if you're looking for some epic, story driven adventure, this ain't it, and yeah, the gameplay loop does get a bit samey after a long time and precise movements can be somewhat irritating in the later levels, but for a casual, arcade style game it's a solid win, especially for the price.
