Excellent Quality Wi-Fi 6E Range Extender

This is the best and easiest to use Wi-Fi extender I've ever installed and it's 6E capable for increased connection speeds. I love the TP-Link Tether app that allows advanced settings control for this product and their routers where they work together seamlessly for my home security cameras system and digital door locks.

Solid extender… I use this for my pavilion about 100 feet from the house, falls out of the wall pretty easliy but it works just fine.

Works great with a Quest Pro for 6e (6 Ghz)

I got this to have a dedicated 6e access point. The more observant of you might notice that this is sold as an extender, but after you get it up and running you can change the "mode" to "Access Point" which is what I did. I only wanted 6e (the 6 GHz band) and turned off the other two bands since I already have a mesh 2.4 and 5 GHz access points on my network. This is to be use with my Quest Pro ( you can also use it with a Quest 3) to have a dedicated Wi-Fi network to allow it to have maximum bandwidth for Virtual Desktop with my PC. The Quest Pro is reporting connecting at 2.1+ Gbps, but the Ethernet port is only 1 Gbps. Keep that in mind if you really need more than 1 Gbps throughput to your wired network for your wireless device(s).

Easy setup, great signal strength, and outstanding transfer speeds. The device has an offset power plug on the back, allowing installation in either direction. This allowed me to install it hanging down from my plug so I could still use the other socket. It doesn't have anything securing it in place, so if your outlet is loose, then this device may fall out. Choosing this device was nearly the same price as buying another router that could be configured to do the same job. Routers are larger and more complicated to configure as a repeater. If you have the technical know-how and the space for installation, I would recommend considering a router over this device.

Easy set up and with the right placement does a good job extending my network and in my case offering me a wired access point in a room with no cat 5 access.

Having recently gone with the Archer AXE300 I found a coverage gap and needed a mesh system. Fortunately this unit connects seamlessly and even without a hardwired connection filled the gap perfectly. It uses a 6ghz backhaul channel to connection to the router. I think there is a minimal loss in speed but it’s only noticeable using Speedtest. I plan on hardwiring it in the near future but definitely would recommend it if you need to fill in coverage gaps

Works exactly as advertised. Set up was very clear and simple. Nice feature that it has an Ethernet port on it if you want to use it was a power line adapter (I’m assuming). One con is that it will take up the whole wall outlet.

Extremely fast, easy to set up, wide range, just know it doesn't have an out USB port so you can't chain to a computer with ethernet for VR connection. Great product!

I needed a router that could bridge and looked the convenience I thought I'd get being able to just plug into the wall. Unfortunately, my other tp link routers are the Tapo mesh system, and this is not, so it didn't really work well with them, which was my only complaint, and my reason for return. If they make a tapo version it would be perfect!

Can't recommend this. Doesn't give the flexibility or features as some competitors do for this type of product. Doesn't give much of a signal boost. It's so small, I'd say moving the router a foot would give it the same signal strength increase. Does setup fairly easily. But for me (and what seems like the entire tp-link forum), without a dedicated wired backhaul with OneMesh, this probably not going to solve your coverage needs. Even as an AP, without a wired backhaul, it's not much use. With the new 5GB internet and a 10GB TP-Link router provided by the ISP, was hoping the TP-Link ecosystem would be similar to competitors like Asus. But It's not even close. Feels like the TP-Link ecosystem is 5-10 years behind. But if TP-Link can get OneMesh with wired backhaul, then I'm willing to change my review. Please TP-Link, add wired backhaul features in the next firmware update.

      Hi,

Thank you for your review. If you haven't noticed a significant improvement in Wi-Fi coverage after installing the extender, we recommend relocating the unit to a position within your home where the router's Wi-Fi signal is sufficiently strong; yet far enough from the router to effectively extend its range. Please verify the RE status LED is indicating a solid connection.

We also recommend ensuring the extender's firmware is fully up-to-date using the steps outlined in FAQ 1406 on our official website: https://www.tp-link.com/us/support/faq/1406/

We appreciate your constructive feedback regarding features you would like to see added to OneMesh, and we will share it with the appropriate team for future consideration.

Our support team is always happy to help answer any questions you may have about our products. Please feel free to reach out using any of the resources included with the product, or from our official website, and we'll gladly have a Support Agent follow up with you directly.

If you want to just expand your wifi for non gaming stuff then the speed is not bad, i was getting almost 500mbps close to the extender and at that moment internet was 1gig, but is not bad 500mbps but i wont trust that for gaming, price is too high, the app is nice but probably needs more adjustments. Works i guess with any router, i was able to use it with a netgear router.

      Hi,

Thank you for your review. Please bear in mind, Wi-Fi extenders utilize half-duplex transmission. As a result, throughput when connecting to the extender may be reduced when compared to the router. This is an industry standard for Wi-Fi extenders and is not exclusive to TP-Link.

In your case, we recommend relocating the unit to a position in your home where the router's Wi-Fi signal is sufficiently strong; yet far enough from the router to effectively extend its range. We also highly recommend ensuring the extender's firmware is fully up to date using the steps outlined in FAQ 1406 on our official website: https://www.tp-link.com/us/support/faq/1406/

If you'd like assistance with any of these steps, please reach out to our free support team using any of the resources included with the product, or from our official website, and we'll gladly have a Support Agent follow up with you directly.

These seem to work well, but require a weekly reboot, in order to maintain a good connection to my ring cameras. Once a week I’ll notice that the signal strength of my ring cameras is extremely poor. After a reboot of the extender (not camera), the signal is excellent. It would be great if a reboot schedule could be implemented into its settings, so it could automatically reboot at a desired time. Right now I have to manually log in and reboot it, and that’s not ideal. My tp-link routers have this feature, so I’m not sure why these do not.

Hello. There is a tool. Log into the admin UI under the Advanced Setting look for Power Schedule. This will allow to set a time for the extender to power down and recycle. But to be honest i would suggest contacting support to troubleshoot fhe frequent drops. tplink
