Excellent with one catch
||Posted .Owned for 1 week when reviewed.Works extremely well. Setting them up with HomeKit is a little more challenging. Unfortunately they put the QR code on the bottom of the device and it makes it a bit difficult to scan while plugged in. Thankfully you can unplug it, scan quickly, and plug it back in. If you do that and are patient it works fine!

Tricky Setup, Great Multi-Digital Assistant Plug
||Posted .I had some initial difficulty setting up the Kasa KP125 plug. My WiFi router is an Eero Pro 6 (running eeroOS 6.6.0). The only way I was able to get the plug setup was to disable HomeKit on the Eero router. Once I disabled HomeKit on Eero, I had no problem setting up the KP125 plug with the Kasa iPhone app. I was also able to update the firmware of the plugs to 1.0.6 in the Kasa iPhone app. I then linked my Kasa account with Google Home and enabled the Kasa Amazon Alexa skill. It's nice being able to use any of the digital assistants to turn the plug on/off. I'd recommend writing down the HomeKit code on the bottom of the plug before starting. It is easier to type the numbers in than to try and take a picture of the QR code on the bottom of the plug while it's plugged in. It's unfortunate they did not include a card with a picture of the QR code in the box. I'm looking forward to checking out the energy monitoring feature after using the plug for some time. The build quality of the plug is solid and not too wide. The status LED is also not too bright.

Excellent after setup
||Posted .Owned for 1 month when reviewed.Love the features on this device with the app from Kasa. I can turn it on and off and monitor power consumption from the app. Also, set a timer from my iPhone. The only down side on this was the setup took longer than I would like. I discovered a tip that is not mentioned in the manuals. I kept the power button pressed about 20 seconds straight to get back to a true factory reset. Once I did that and knew the correct apps to download it was an easy install. I have been using this mainly as a timer and monitoring power usage for a water distiller. Working much better than I had anticipated and I love checking out the details on my iPhone.

TP-Link Makes Good Home Automation Products
||Posted .Owned for 1 month when reviewed.TP-Link makes good home automation products. This miniature smart plug is no exception. With that said, I only put this model (the micro) in an area where no one sleeps. The disco show at night is too much for a dark room in my opinion. The larger model that takes up the entire 2 slots of an American 2 outlet plug, while large, only has an orange light when there’s a fault, and a yellowish green with things are happy. Side note, TP-Link’s colored lights are my favorite of all I’ve tried. They respond fast, the colors transition fluidly, and 800 lumens looks as bright as it should. All this said, you need to have a solid 2.4GHz network or you’ll be frustrated. If possible, vLAN your home automation system off from your video streaming devices. 25 year IT guru here dropping the knowledge.

Kasa Smart Plugs
||Posted .Owned for 1 week when reviewed. For the price they work alright. Set up can be a little complicated, using the Kasa app seems to work better than using the Apple HomeKit app which is unfortunate. Using them for controlling back patio string lights and it is nice to have that functionality. Wish they were thread capable or at least supported the 5ghz Wi-Fi band. You can update the firmware through the Kasa app so you might as well download it as well even if using a separate app to control the switches.

This works so well. I 100% recommend!
||Posted .Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. As I was purchasing something else, I came across this awesome sale on the Kasa smart plug. I’ve investigated this particular one in the past, but now that I started expanding beyond just smart lights, I figured the next step would be making some of my “dumb” devices “smart,” I decided to purchase this and it works incredibly well, seamlessly with everything else I have via Apple HomeKit and the app that goes along with this wonderful smart plug. Between my lights and my new addition here, I can easily control most of my devices, whether I’m home or away now. This is a must buy if you plan to integrate further into the 21st century evolution of the smart home!

Great product - so convenient and flexible
||Posted .Bought as a gift because I love it so much. Use it anywhere you'd use a fixed timer, but with more flexibility, like set to turn on at sunset +/- some time -- or manually via the app remotely. (1) I have some lamps that come on automatically about a half hour before sunset and turn off at about 10 pm. (2) I use it on a tall bedside lamp to turn it on/off with the app, rather than getting out of bed! (3) I have a wifi extender in another part of the house that cameras connect to -- a small power fluctuation turns off the extender and thus the camera. I can reboot the extender remotely to get my cameras back.

Finally Homekit
||Posted .Owned for 1 week when reviewed. Finally they added HomeKit support! Works flawlessly so far I have a bunch of non HomeKit kasa products and they work day in and day out. Compact enough to fit two in an outlet! Tiny status lights that’s not bright which is good. Has audible click when turned on and off

||Posted .Works very well. Reached my expectations and does the job pretty well. But setting up with apple HomeKit was not a easy task as QR code is given on the bottom side of plug but we may search on box.

We have a few
||Posted .Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. We have a lot of these things around the house. Primarily for Christmas decorations and few year round automations in the house. We love these things. This HomeKit version does seem like it was much more difficult to get setup in the Kasa app. I don’t use HomeKit and it seemed to be interfering with getting these two to work in my app. One new feature that this version has is that the app shows power usage for these. My older ones just show time used. These were on sale and we had a few new decorations this year so I renamed some of my older ones as Christmas and kept these newer ones for the year round usage.

Awesome plugs to use when not home or at night!
||Posted .Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed.I love these! I buy these for my family. My parents use these a lot when they are trying to get around the house at night. I like it when I can turn on the lights in my place when I'm not home.

Train Switch
||Posted .Owned for 1 month when reviewed.I had 2 of these and they worked well for 2 years then went into saying I had no wi-fi and I could not get them back on line. So I went to Bestbuy and they said these were upgraded. I bought them, they were not easy to setup, but going to a very unusually option I was able to make them work. It should be easier.

It is great to be able to buy these locally!
||Posted .Owned for 1 month when reviewed.I have used a lot of TP-Link - Kasa Smart Wi-Fi Plug Minis in my home. A few of the ones that I ordered through Amazon did not work. Both members of the set that I bought at Best Buy work perfectly ... and, I did not have to wait for delivery.

GARBAGE setup if you don't use the Apple Home app.
||Posted .First of all, I have 3 Kasa Smart plugs already (the 105 models) and plenty of their lightbulbs (which are great), with which I have never had any issues during set up. I assumed using the Apple "Home" app was *optional* with this plug, so I bought it thinking I might use in the future. It is not. There is no way to skip this step during set. You **must connect it to the Home app or exit setup**. Those are your options in the Kasa app. Furthermore, it asks you for a code, which was not on the box or on the paper documentation inside the box - it was on the UNDERSIDE of the plug itself. So now the plug has to be plugged in and you want me to scan the code? Good luck. Ok, I took a photo of the QR code and used that so I could keep the Kasa switch plugged in. Should work now, right??? Nope. Took multiple tries, make sure you are on the right wifi bandwidth... and finally got it set up. The old plugs were SO much easier to set up and I am opting not to use the Home app, so why can't I just skip that part or set it up later? Annoyed. This was the only one in stock at BB, but I didn't realize "with Homekit" meant "ONLY with Homekit". If you are a dedicated Homekit user, this shouldn't be so bad - but realize the code may not be on the box, but on the underside of the plug instead - so write the code down or take a pic before plugging in. Dumb.
