This Smart Plug is fantastic and works like a charm! I plugged the device in my outlet, installed the Kasa app on my phone, and then followed the onscreen instructions. During the setup, you are greeted with the option to create a TP-Link Cloud Account. Though this is optional, I highly recommend creating one as you can then control the Smart Plug remotely. You may choose to skip the account registration step in the Kasa App and still control the Smart Plug through your local network using the App. However, bear in mind your mobile device and the Smart Plug need to be on the same Wi-Fi network. Once you realize how convenient and flexible these devices are, you will find yourself wanting more in no time! **Pros** * No Hub is required. These Smart Plugs work with any Wi-Fi router without the need for a separate hub or paid subscription service. * Not much bigger than the very popular Etekcity Wireless Remote Control Electrical Outlets, yet it can do a whole lot more! * Built in Energy Monitoring. Most people get these types of devices for convenience and to save on electricity bills. It makes a big difference to actually be able to see the Energy usage on your devices. Not many Smart Plugs even have this feature. The energy monitoring feature seems to be very accurate too. * It does not get too hot when in use. * Reading a lot of reviews and researching online, these seems to be much more stable than the WeMo smart plugs. * Memory function. If you get a power failure, or unplug these Smart Plugs and move them to another outlet, it will save the previous settings! This is very useful as you do not have to set it up again (unlike the WeMo smart plugs!). * These can be used with a power strip, so you can control multiple items with ONE Smart Plug. * There is no lag in response when controlling the Smart Plug from your phone. * Dual voltage. This is a huge bonus as it will also work with 220-240v! Though the Smart Plug says 100-120V on the back, it has been confirmed/tested to be dual voltage. * 2 Year Warranty * Amazon Echo support - This is where the device really shines. It works natively with Amazon Echo, which allows you to use voice control/simple phrases to control your Smart Plug! * Flexibility - There are a lot of variables you can set. Time (hours and minutes, am/pm), switch action (on or off), and repeat (days of week - you can select one individual day, every day, or a combination of days). A programmed event requires two "events" in the app, a switch action "on" and a switch action "off". **Cons** * None **Other Thoughts** * A lot of people tend to complain about these types of devices covering both outlets on the wall. If this is really an issue for you, I would recommend buying a few cheap 1 inch extension cords (easily found online or in hardware stores) and then connecting the Smart Plug to that. * This unit will only connect to the 2.4GHz wireless band on your router. The reason is quite simple - Since the 5GHz band has a much shorter usable range, the 2.4GHz band makes more sense for devices like this. It also reduces complexity by not having the support for both. The 2.4GHz band will allow you to place these Smart Plugs farther away from your WI-FI router. TP-Link Smart Plug, No Hub Required

If you want to venture into the world of Smart Home automation, the TP-Link Smart Wi-Fi Plug (HS110) is a great place to start. My first TP-Link device was the Smart Wi-Fi Plug Mini. That device is a little smaller and does not cover up as much of the second outlet when plugged in to the top outlet. If plugged into the bottom, it will cover both outlets. Setup is a breeze. You first download the Kasa app from your preferred app store (Apple’s App Store or Google Play). You plug the device in and following the directions in the app. This involves connecting the device to your Wi-Fi network through your phone or tablet. You then go back to the app and finish the setup. From start to finish it took about two minutes. There was a firmware update I needed to do and then I was ready to go! The Kasa app allows you to turn the Smart Plug on from anywhere you are connected to the Internet. That is so handy if you forgot to leave a light on when you left the house. It also works woth Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa. It is very easy to add you plug to the Smart Home section of the Alexa app. It then allows youi to control the plug with your voice! The only difference between the HS100 and HS110 is the energy monitoring feature. It will allow you to check the electric usage on the plug. You can check the current power in W and the total consumption in kWh. It also gives you an average for 7 & 30 days. You can use the Kasa app to create a schedule when you want the plug to turn on/off and set up an away mode. When in Away Mode, during the period of time, your device will be randomly turned on or off. The TP-Link website describes it “It deters bad guys by setting your lights to turn on and off on a schedule so it seems like you’re home when you are actually away.” It also has a timer mode. I have installed TP-Link Smart Plug minis and Smart Light Switches and they all work flawlessly. It comes with a 2 year warranty and 24/7 Tech Support. What does not to like. Give it a try. I’m pretty sure you will be back to buy some more! Submitted as part of a free sample program.

TP-Link Wi-Fi Smart Plug HS110 The Smart Plug works with your existing wireless network. Setup is pretty easy once you have installed the free Kasa app, which is how you will turn your smart plug, and anything plugged in to them, on and off. And yes, you will be able to control your smart plug from anywhere in the world with your smartphone or tablet, as long as you have internet access. And for those of you wanting to take the cool factor up a notch, by controlling the smart plug with voice commands, you can set it up with Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant. Note: At first, I could not find the Kasa app in the app store for my iPad. I contacted TP-Link about this, and they were able to help. In the App Store, there is an option to filter searches for “iPad Apps” and “iPhone Apps”. After changing to search for iPhone apps, I was able to find the app. Not sure why it mattered, as the app works with any iOS device running iOS 8 or higher. For those of you wanting to have multiple devices come on at once, like maybe a lamp, radio, fan or TV, plug a power strip into the smart plug, then plug those devices into the power strip. When you turn the smart plug on, those devices that are plugged into the power strip will all come on too. I simply have the HS110 controlling a lamp right now, and it has worked great! For security purposes, you may purchase additional smart plugs for other outlets around your home or business, and have them all set to come on at different times of the night while you’re away- turning on lights throughout your home or business, which gives the appearance that someone is home. The HS110 smart plugs are pretty neat devices, and can be extremely useful around your home or business. There are many cool things you can do with one, I just wish it was smart enough to put the toilet seat down once I leave the restroom. :) Submitted as part of a free sample program

This is a review of a free product received from TP-LINK as part of the review program. That's what they told me to put at the top of the review, but I've been more of a worst case beta tester for the HS110, as I received it in January 2016. Initially TP-LINK didn't support Kasa connecting to hidden SSID routers, so I had to reveal my SSID until they added that feature. However, SSID revealed or not, I couldn't actually use it until just a few days ago, when I realized that the AP Isolation I'd enabled on my router for years was blocking communication between RPi & my tablet (that I previously had on separate wireless networks), so the HS110 was almost certainly having that issue too when I tried to connect to it with Kasa. Just after AP Isolation was disabled, the HS110 had a few problems, like it not connecting to my hidden SSID on the first manual entry & the firmware update detected prompt resulting in "update unsuccessful", forcing me to reset & go to settings and update manually. After keeping at it, I plugged a nightlight into the HS110 and there's no perceptible app on-off switch delay! I plugged my RPi into it so I can quickly reset it if I can't SSH login & reboot. It doesn't like when my router reboots though, claiming the device (HS110, RPi, or both?) is offline, and needs more prodding than I would like to get active status/stats. Preferably I'd want Kasa to say the WAN IP of the HS110 stopped responding to pings, or something less vague, so I can tell what's to blame. Comparing this unit to the Amazon ASIN, it looks like TP-LINK redesigned the case? Currently my Uniden cordless handset charger's AC adapter (9mm from the top of the plastic to the top of the plug) won't fit under the review unit HS110 (with no logo, only the text "TP-LINK") in a standard US grounded 2-plug outlet. I wonder if the newer version HS110 would be more friendly to sharing these outlets. For the aforementioned reasons, for this older version...

This is a review of a free product received from TP-LINK as part of the review program. Better than a basic timer. These TP-Link Smart Plugs can be controlled on my phone, even when I'm miles away. We often travel so, having something like this that I can check & manage on my phone, gives me more peace of mind. You do need to download the KASA app on your iphone/smartphone to get it to work. Once downloaded on my phone, I just follow the KASA app instructions re: when to plug in the Smart Plug & connecting it with my phone's wi-fi setting (pic 01). The Smart Plug home setting will appear, when everything's synced correctly. At this point, the Smart Plug can now set with whatever electronic device you want it to turn on or off, according to your schedule. I wanted the Smart Plug to turn off my humidifier automatically. I plugged my humidifier into the Smart Plug first. Then, I set the Timer to 1 minute to turn it off (see pic 02). When I started the Timer, I can see the time counting down to zero. At zero, the KASA app goes back to the home setting and turns off the Smart Plug, which effectively shuts off my humidifier. You can also schedule the times for your home device to turn on or off at certain days of the week. This Smart Plug makes things convenient to control your lights, sprinklers, and other home devices, during times when you're away from home. Greatly recommended.

I'm very pleased with the performance of this smart plug, I can just set it and forget it like my growing collection of smart plugs and bulbs. Setup and management is a breeze with the free mobile Kasa app, and I can even control it remotely from anywhere if I link it through my free TP-Link Cloud account. The schedule can easily be changed, and my family likes the ability to control it using voice commands with Amazon Alexa or Google Home. Placement of the plug within range of our wireless router has given us very reliable connections. When we chose a location too far from the main router, we were able to connect it to our TP-Link range extender for excellent results. The HS110 also includes energy monitoring. Although the size of this device requires using the top plug of a pair and you cannot put two of these plugs into the same pair, the bottom plug can still be used for another device that has a regular-size plug. I don't see that as an issue, since I don't want to group my smart plugs together. I prefer to spread them further apart across several rooms. Submitted as part of a free sample program.

This is my 4th TP-Link smart plug. Once you start hooking these up around the house and having them do the many different things that you can get them to, you won't be able to stop. We use ours with our Echo dots, love being able to set up "groups" and "scenes" in the Smart Home options in the Echo app. For example, "turn on the living room" right now turns up all of the lights in the living room (and over the holidays, the Christmas tree - much to my son's delight). Very easy to set up and to change via the Kasa app, and have only experienced 1 outage in the year or so that we'd had these plugs (just needed to unplug and plug in again). The energy monitoring feature on this particular plug is neat so I'm encouraged to use the scheduling feature to save some electricity. Now I want to get the smart bulbs and smart switches and Alexa would run my whole house... Submitted as part of a free sample program.

This product has a nice design but it is somewhat bulky for a plug. I like how I can control devices using my phone. I don't have to come to a dark home and I can turn off downstairs' light without walking down. I can also set the schedule for devices to turn on and off at specific times. I can also monitor how much power is being consumed by my computer, TV, refrigerator, etc... It also claims to work well with Echo and Alexa but I am not familiar with those products. I think HS110 is a great toy for tech savvy people who can get ton of use out of it. If you are shopping for a smart plug, you should buy HS110. It delivered everything it said it would and it was very easy to use them. This is a review of a free product received from TP-LINK as part of the review program.

This product is very simple to set up(approximately 10 minutes to setup one device, including downloading the app). I used an iPhone and found the short instructions included with the package to be more than sufficient. The account necessary to manage the switch is quick to set up as well and does not ask for invasive details. The app details energy usage of the device controls the outlet with very little delay in speed. The whole system is 100% wireless, which is definitely nice. I found this to be everything I expected, with the added bonus of being able to track energy consumption on the outlet. Disclaimer: I was sent this product for review as a participant in the TP-Link customer review program in exchange for my honest review of the product.

I purchased this item to restart my router remotely. Since there is not an option to restart a device, I programmed in the app an off time followed by an on time a few minutes later. To my surprise this worked when tested in my home although my network was down after the off time. There is no documentation on their support site to explain how the device works in detail. When I did the same test away from home, I received different error messages when the off time was reached and the device was not turned off. There was no item in support to help me fix a remote access problem and of course none regarding using programmed on and off times remotely. I returned the device.

This smart plug works perfectly. Setup, and function work flawlessly. I added this plug to my bedroom to turn my lights off when going to sleep and waking up to lights on. The monitoring feature is an excellent way for my me to manage energy used. This works great as a security device when I'm away from home, which I can activate anywhere I am. I think its a little big though but works great with the Kasa app and with Alexa it's perfect addition to one's home automation arsenal. This is a review of a free product received from TP-LINK as part of the review program. Setup of this smart switch is simple and just need to follow direction from setup wizard. For unknow reason my Samsung Android Note4 app had trouble pairing with this smart switch. I tried several times by reinstall the app and reset the switch but nothing worked. I had to finally pair it with iOS then Android app picked up the switch. It has been fun to have a remote switch for my lamp and i had set the switch for travel and it will light up when we come home after work at different time. Hopefully newer firmware update will include IFTTT function.

I recently purchased an Amazon Echo and am converting my home to a smart home. I have been purchasing these SmartPlug to control my lights and they work perfect. No need to buy a hub or anything like that. You just connect them to your WiFi, name them, discover them in your Amazon Echo app, and then you are good to go. Just say "Alexa, turn on my living room plug" (as an example) and it goes on. I have been using them for over a month now and have not had a single issue.

When reading the product description it specifically said could be use with a phone or tablet. Upon receiving the plug and trying to get it to connect numerous times I contacted customer support only to find out that the product summary was incorrect and the plug only worked with a phone app not a tablet app, which unfortunately is what I want to use it with. Returned it to the store for a refund and purchased a WEMO plug from Lowes that worked perfectly with my tablet. Lot of wasted time.

      Hello,

      Thank you for your review.

The Smart Plug is compatible with phones and tablets that are running Android 4.1 (or higher) or iOS (8 or higher). Please note the iOS app is designed for the iPhone so when searching for the application you must change the filter to iPhone only but once installed will function fine.

Please do not hesitate to contact our support team if you have any questions or comments as we would be happy to assist you.

I bought this to control a fan in my house for my pet. On hot summer days, since I don't have central a/c at my house, during the day when I'm at work when it's scorching hot, I am able to turn on the fan remotely for her. It's a lifesaver for her. I can move the plug anytime, anywhere, and plug other appliances into it. Super easy to setup. Took me 2 mins to setup and program. GREAT PRODUCT! Couldn't be more satisfied with this plug. My pet is very happy as well!

I am a fan of the suite of smart devices from TP-Link and this is no exception. Being able to remotely turn on and off a smart plug is excellent. Set up was super easy with the Kasa app and seeing energy usage is great!. The only downside is unlike one of the other plugs that TP-Link carries, this one takes up an entire outlet so you essentially lose a spot to plug things in. My only complaint with this model is that it sometimes prevents me from plugging in other things at the same outlet. I can still plug in a regular-size cord / extension cord, but anything larger than that is either a tight squeeze or no fit. I've tried the smaller "lite" plugs, but I prefer the energy monitoring feature. I wish they made a "lite" size with the energy monitoring feature.

The TP-Link HS110 Smart Wi-Fi plug is a simple and easy-to-use. It's main function is to manage plugged-in electronics. You can do this remotely with your phone or you can create a schedule and have the devices automatically turn on and off when you want. The smart plug also provides energy monitoring for those curious how much money their spending to run specific devices.

The great thing about this product is that it works with Amazon Echo. I connected this smart plug to my A/C and now I turn it on and off with voice command, I don't need the remote from the A/C. Also it supports 220V (I took it to Perú) and plugged it in and works perfectly. So for those who intend to take this smart plug to places that only supports 220V, I asure It will work flawlessly.
