I had another router I bought it for $40; I though this one will be a better choice and will cover the dead spots in my house. I was letterly next to the router & still don't get the full signal!
Disappointed, I'm going to return it!

Router was spotty. Time Machine on Big Sur doesn't work with this router. I spent 3 weeks with TP-Link's tech support and gave up.

Best buy took so long to ship to my home. We made other arrangements. When we tried to return the unopened package. The store said product was discontinued and would not refund.

You don't even need a computer though most of us will use one to set it up. If you have a cell phone you can set it up that way as I did because my computer wasn't able to be connected to it.
One blip while setting up added about 2min of frustration. No biggie and it may have been due to me being impatient, idk.
Easily covers my ~1700sq feet and even goes to the back yard even tho my office is at the front of the house.

I bought this router-based on reviews and Reddit thinking that it would improve my wifi. It was bought to replace my 5-7-year-old Netgear R7000. For the life of me, this router was giving me far worst speeds than with the old Netgear router. No matter what I tried I was only getting 20 mbs with a moderate size home. Mind you I am paying for 500 mbs, Stay away from this router if you trying to do virtually anything with 5 or more devices connected. Will never purchase another TP-Link again.

With that in mind, please connect devices that need longer range to the 2.4GHz band, and devices that are closer to the router but use more bandwidth to the 5GHz band. Overheats

Worked great for the first few months and then it steadily declined before dying. Its has terrible heat problems. Mind you this was sitting on a flat, hard surface in the open and after observing connectivity lag I went to reset it and the thing was BLAZING hot! At best it would run very warm. No firmware update or reset could fix this and as time went by it silently died. Go figure it would after the return date. The app wasn't bad at least.

Found it impossible to link to my modem. Wanted it done by
an App on my phone. Wouldn't read the QR for set up and impossible to set up any other way. I have a D-Link that I was
going to replace with this router and the D-link set up without all the junk steps needed to synch w/modem.

Thank you for your review. While the Archer AX50 Wi-Fi 6 router does support convenient app-based setup and management via the TP-Link Tether app, it also supports standard, web browser setup as well.
If you are encountering difficulty obtaining Internet access from the router after initial set up, it could be that your cable modem's MAC (Media Access Control) binding needs to be released and renewed so it can provide an IP address (and Internet) to the Router. This can typically be done using the following steps:
1. Unplug the power from both your router and cable modem 2. Unplug the coax cable from the modem 3. Re-connect power ONLY to your cable modem 4. Wait until the cable modem is fully booted, then re-connect coax 5. Re-connect power to the router and connect it to the modem via Ethernet
This process should release and renew the MAC binding so your modem can provide connectivity to the router. Drops connections; Incompatible w/ ring cams

Since I switched to this router, I've had problems with devices losing their internet connection several times per day, for a few seconds each time. Also, Ring cameras are unable to connect to this router. After a few weeks I gave up with this and went back to my old $20 router I bought years ago. Don't waste your money on this.
