I wasn’t going to buy this game, but i tried the demo one day, and loved it right away. It’s a remake of an old times classic. You can definitely feel the old school jrpg vibe, which is something i haven’t felt in a while. Combats feel great, and story is interesting for now. It’s a details but i like how the character walking speed. Could be considered as slow for some, but at least it doesn’t feel like it’s sliding (cf xenoblade)

The story is very good, the voice acting is laughably bad and the gameplay is monotonous but fun.

Trials of Mana is a remake of Secret of Mana 3 that we never got in the US until recently when it came to the Switch in the Collection of Mana. This remake stays fairly true to the original with some great updated music and combat, classic dialog, and faithful 3D realizations of the 2D environments from the original. The combat that doesn't get old so grinding isn't a pain like it came be in some RPGs. It might turn some people off that this game follows closely to an RPG that was developed in the mid 90's, but I still enjoy it. It runs and looks decent on Switch so there doesn't feel like any kind of big sacrifice over the PS4 version.

...and I really didn't like it. This was the big Japanese game that Western gamers never got back in the SNES days, and we waited decades for it, and it just didn't live up to the hype. It's your standard issue 90s era action RPG gameplay, no different than any other Mana game, or Zelda, or Y's games, minus any and all character development or plot movement. you'll be slashing and bashing and hacking and whacking at things, but there's really no story motivation to do it whatsoever. At least you get to choose from a bevy of characters as your main hero, giving you a lot of replay value with different branching paths per character. Even though those replays will still be pretty boring and emotionless. It looks beautiful, it plays smoothly, it's just a real bland slog to get through. Hardly any weapons or armor to find, almost no loot, very few secrets, and almost no sorry to speak of. As much as my old gamer heart wants to recommend it, I simply can't.

An absolutely fantastic game all around. The remake is a drastic improvement on the original, and it has that nostalgic feel of an SNES rpg, but in a full 3D environment. Vibrant and colorful environments coupled with fluid combat and fun mechanics make this a must purchase for anyone looking to play a cool RPG with less than realistic graphics.

    New Game Plus Is Pointless

The game is pretty good on the first playthrough. Doing ng+ as of the time of writing this review is pointless as the party members you chose the last playthrough will carry over their levels which defeats the purpose of doing ng+ in the first place unless you pick members you haven't placed in your party yet. The members you haven't picked yet will start at level 1. I do recommend playing in hard mode during the first playthrough as the game isn't hard and playing on hard mode will extend your playtime ever do slightly.

Trials of Mana exceeded all expectations I had for this game. I recall in the old days playing the english translated version of this game on SNES and it was amazing for its time. This newer 3D version takes it over the top and with the new 4th classes give it lots of replay value. 5/5 would recommend!

Played through the SNES version twice trying different characters. This is an opportunity to try a new team with new graphics and different battle system. My minor complaint is the sometimes annoying voice acting but it doesn't really ruin the game for me.

One of the best switch ports. May not be as pretty as the ps4 version or run as smooth, but it plays well on both docked and handheld with little issue. If you need the best looking and playing version get the ps4 but if you like the portability and the ability to play on TV, you can't go wrong with this version .

I was a big fan of the original version when I was a kid, but I was hesitant to buy this version. I haven't enjoyed many remakes of other SquareEnix games, but I really enjoyed playing Trials of Mana. It has some cheesy voice acting and the story and world building can be shallow at times but the music, fighting and character building more than make up for it. The game is fairly simple as far as action RPG's go. This game knows what it is, and it does it well.

This game is remake is great. I have never played the original so my thoughts are just on this game alone. The cutscenes are beautiful made and the music fits in so perfectly. Everything has be remade and is now in 3D. There is voice acting as well. There are a lot of different subplots and many subquests giving it a lot of replayability. Hard mode isn't too hard and is relatively easy to finish.

A classic from the 90s never released officially in the US, comes remade from scratch more than 20 years later to give a very nice impression to old and new rpg fans. You can choose the music from the original or the new version. The action mechanics for battles are pretty neat

A wonderful recreation of Seiken Densetsu 3 or the third installment of the Secret of mana series. The fighting and story elements are all there and the quality of the game especially on the switch is top notch. Well worth the price of the game and a definite must buy on the switch.

Great game, it very good and i can see that the creator put thought into it. it fun to play a Japanese rpg that offer this kind of experience. The only bad thing about this is the voice acting, like my goodness, can they pay extra for a better voice actor or hired voice actor that cares about the game and their career? the voice acting in the game was bad, but everything else was great.

This Action JRPG is an excellent remake of Secret of Mana bringing it up to date to the modern era with 3D graphics. It tells the story of good vs evil and adventure. Without giving too many spoilers, this is a highly recommended game for get yourself lost into.

Trials of mana is a real fun game for the Nintendo switch. It a fantasy story with a good lineup of characters to choose between. Whether you choose to join up with certain 3 characters to battle with you can do this. Graphics are good and story line is really fun.
