Birthday gift never watched it for my grandson 16th birthday

This movie was not very good. I was expecting more. Do not waste your money.

Movie is disjointed compilation of different stories with very slim connection with each other

there seemed possibly to be a cohesive thread but it was lost with all the silly exterminations of folk...

I found the movie senseless and without a good solid theme. Overall I did not like the movie.

If you're an old school horror fan, you'll love Michael Dougherty's 'Trick R Treat.' With all the sh*tty horror remakes running amok with ever-increasing frequency, it's great to see a gem like 'Trick R Treat' finally get a proper release on DVD and Blu-ray for viewers who prefer some artistry in their horror fare. The film concerns 4 short stories that intersect with one another throughout one Halloween night (think 'Pulp Fiction' meets 'Creepshow.'). I won't lie to you and tell you that the film blows you away with concepts you've never seen before. On the contrary, the film is so familiar 'cause Dougherty takes us into situations we've seen before countless time in other films, and then completely puts a new spin on them. The film revisits many of the urban myths about Halloween that we've all heard about growing up, and pays homage to many of the great horror and Halloween films of yore. 'Trick R Treat' is one of my new favorite horror films, and is requisite Halloween viewing for this reviewer from here on out. Don't wait for the next Halloween season the check it out though -- the film is one treat that tastes good all year. This movie is just pure fun!!! After waiting I think 2 years since I have first heard of this movie it finally has been unleashed in my favorite month October. What is so good about this film is sometimes when you have heard a interconnected movie you only see that person during that segment. Not in this movie every character you are bound to see at least twice throughout the film whether just a small part or there story. This has become in my personal collection a Halloween must have and will probably be played througout the year. I not only recommend this movie to a friend but someone who has given up on horror movies in general this is seriously a movie that should be enjoyed by all

this movie is a must have for those that like horror and twists in plots/story. the acting in this movie is great not leaving any second guess on why certain people were cast. the movie has a perfect interconnection between the 4 stories that make it up. i watched it several times in a row looking in the background for the charactors from other parts of the movie to walk in. this is a great movie to play during the halloween season and its not to scary so kids probably 10 and older could watch it without any problem. also for those of you who think this was a straight to dvd movie you are wrong it came out in select theaters last year in cities on the east and west coast as well as some film festivals and other events.

For the most part, this film was really good. If you enjoy Halloween, the holiday, you'll really enjoy this film. Never before have I seen a film which put so much emphasis on the Halloween season. This film nails it! Not just a home run, but a grand slam! The story however is just so-so. It's mostly the supernatural elements which turned me off. Not just the fact that there were "supernatural elements" in general, but the KIND of supernatural elements that were used. I wont spoil anything, but I wasn't a big fan of a certain character's 'wall crawling' and/or the whole 'werewolf' bit. But otherwise, the story itself was decent and enjoyable. I'd give it an overall rating of 6/10. My only other gripe is with the film's musical score. It was far too lighthearted. For such a holiday-heavy film they could have really up'd the creep-factor by making the musical score more ominous and foreboding. More chilling, eerie, and intense musical themes would have totally put this film over the top as a real hardcore scary movie. But don't get me wrong, you should definitely check this film out just for the holiday atmosphere alone. Buy it and watch it every Halloween. You'll be glad you did.

It's nice to see a quality horror movie with effects that look real. Trick 'r Treat is one of my favorite horror films because of its originality, the way it is strung together, and a plus, it had some (three) actors from my favorite TV show of all time, Dead Like Me. Britt McKillip is one of my favorite actresses because of her amazing acting on the television series Dead Like Me, and she does a great job as Macy in this film as well.

I saw the trailers of this movie on the 300 DVD and after seeing I waited paitiently for it to be releases but like everyone else I was dissipointed but thanks to Blue ray I can finally see it the movie has four great horror movie in on sitting and the moral of the stories are great too and I loved the character Sam I loved his weapon was a candy bar with a razor blade at the end instead of a traditional knife cliche.

I really enjoyed the picture quality and the surprises that happen in the movie. Only a few things that I didn't care for was the ending because it was kind of obvious. I also thought the price was high for a straight to DVD/BD release.

Over all the movie has completely original in every way possible. It keeps you at the edge of your seat bitting your finger nails, not wanting to see what’s around the corner!!! A necessity!!! A new tradition for Halloween...Michael Myers time to find a new job.

I was excited after seeing the previews for this movie, but then it never got a theatrical release. Just straight to video, which was too bad. It's a high-quality production with a great storyline. Much better than the usual slasher films! Blu-ray quality is excellent, of course.

Trick r Treat was really good it should not have been delayed into theaters only to go direct to dvd, I think of it like my favorite childhood movie Monster Squad if you get the chance check them both out. Really good must haves

Ok people. I would love to elaborate on this movie for those of you reading reviews before buying. I figured all five stars and good reviews so lets get it. This movie is actually four movies combined into one. Four plots that coeinside with each other. The ideas were good, not a realistic film by any means. The principle is good however, there is actually no horror to this film. No edge sitting, no thrill, just plot and storybook tales. If you are looking for a good horror movie to terrify your girlfriend or give you a thrill this is not the film. If you are looking for an original movie that might even make you laugh then this is the film. In comparison to another film I would have to compare this to Zombie Strippers. Zombie Strippers has one solid plot but the film is as random as this one and about as scary "being non existant".

I love this movie and hope that they finally make part 2

We got a chance to see this movie at SD Comic Con in July. It was great. A bit of creepshow and comedy in with a really good horror movie plot!
