Customers commend the Elite 800 Wireless DTS 7.1-Channel Surround Sound Gaming Headset's exceptional sound quality, wireless functionality, and comfortable design. Many also appreciate its good battery life. However, some users find the buttons overly sensitive, the price high, and the fit snug for larger heads. A few also noted the headset's weight as a potential issue during extended use.

First let me start with saying I wasn't able to keep my set as the financing deal we setup along with a projector didn't work out. The projector didn't have certain features it claimed to. That's for another review however....
I LOVED these. The charging station worked great for me. Others have complained about it. I'm not certain why they had such difficulties with it. Set them in and they magnetically snapped into place and started charging. They looked GREAT on my desk!
The features are awesome. The bluetooth feature and the app for my phone rocked! I could see battery life of the headset through the app. Change E.Q. settings on the fly, even upload a different E.Q. setting if I switched to a game that had a custom profile available.
The only bad isn't all that bad. It is what's keeping me from giving these a 5 star review though. Microsoft is aware of some issues with chat and using the Elite 800X headphones. A lot of my friends told me to get off my Kinect and plug in my MIC. I was upset needless to say. I did not spend $300 to sound like a Kinect. I did some testing on my own, and when I recorded a voice message to send through the messaging system it played back awesome. When this bug is worked out these will truely be the Elite choice!
Happy Gaming!

The only thing that was initially holding me back from buying was the "poor mic quality" and maybe those people had the unupdated packaging ones. But I haven't heard a single issue from friends/randoms. I play CoD, WoT, anything. This headset it great. Completely wireless besides the connected base wire to Xbox/Reciever. I turn my Xbox 1 on, it connects everything automatically, no problems. Make sure you turn on the mic setting of "Quiet Room" to make your voice silky smooth.
The Pros: It works and for the competitive minded all I can say is I just leave it on "Game Sound" and "Signature sound". There are others like "Racing" and "Footstep focus" but I haven't really tried with it, the default works.
Also, all I have to do once I have turned Bluetooth on my iPhone 6 and the headset is connect them once and every time I do it from then it auto connects them. You can even take it on the road with you if you want, as the Reciever isn't needed for blue tooth. I think... I'll have to confirm later on.
Cons:
Sometimes if I hard-restart the console (unplugging power) it will have trouble auto connecting the mic and I'll have sound but can't talk, haven't really figured that one out, it rarely happens and I usually just restart the console.
The buttons are a little too sensitive and if I lay them on the couch the buttons will be pressed by that.
Other than that it's 10/10.

Been watching this product for years, until it finally went on sale for $250, and I used $50 worth of best buy points to buy it. These are some of the best headphones I've ever used. Make no mistake about it these headphones are big and heavy, but once you put them on they are distributed so evenly and are so comfortable you don't notice. Every sound also comes with 5-6 presets to pick from. You are also able to connect the headset to the mobile app or to your computer and download, change, or rearrange presets. Though most of the time I only found the "signature sound" preset worth using, it's still great to have that many options.
As far as sound goes, it's second to none. The surround is great, especially on games like the witcher. Nature and outdoor settings are when these headphones shine. Even from the second you hit the title screen to just the sound of a crackling fire you immediately feel the difference. It's a very immersive experience. The noise cancellation feature is extremely effective. I sit in front of an ac unit while playing, and after turning on the noise cancellation the loud sound of the ac running is reduced to a faint hum at best. The Bluetooth feature, now taken for granted in today's technology, is another huge selling point. I was unaware these headphones had this, as I was simply buying it for gaming. So I was ecstatic to find I could use them with every device I own.
The only cons I've found is price, as I stated I watched for years waiting for a price drop. And I've seen other reviews complaining about the functionality of connecting to a pc, but I believe that point is closer to moot due to Bluetooth and mobile being the way of life now. I did not attempt to use them with the pc, but where they come with an 8mm headphone jack to convert them to "old school" headphones, I can't see where this is an issue. All in all if you're looking for one pair of headphones that will do it all, these are it

I have only bought 2 headsets, including this one. 1 for PC (Z300) and this Elite 800. Both Turtle Beaches. I'm not a great reader/writer so I go to videos for my reviews and there were a lot of contradictions I came across. so I bought them myself. If you're a collector then I'm sure you can find everything wrong with this headset. I really wanted to love this headset because of the convenience of the charging station and PC compatibility as well. I'm a PlayStation guy ( psn: Audi-J ) So for someone that doesn't really know much about headsets, here's my review.
Wearing: Wireless!!!! Comfortable for the first half hour. Even though this one has memory foam ear cups and head band with synthetic leather, it still has the same annoying feature my PC ones have... The pressure points Turtle Beach headsets create are below and behind the ears after about an hour of playing are annoying. Always feel weird for 30 minutes after playing. I will admit it is not as bad as my PC ones so little improvement, maybe? Because of this, they definitely do not fall off when you shake your head which Seems to be a real concern among hardcore gamers, not sure why? I have never played a video game where I had to shake my head for my headset to fall off. Not really breathable but better than my Z300s. I still sweat around my ears, but not as bad.
Sound: Most reviews talk about a "Hissing noise" in the background, but for me it’s only when my FAN in my room is on. I am still currently going through the many different game modes and testing them out. So far, the sound quality is great. There’s talk about it not being loud enough, mine are just fine. I am still trying to find the sweet spot with chat vs volume. I seem to hear the person better with the headphone that came with the ps4 but im sure I just have to calibrate it correctly. Plus, I have the game sound coming through the headset as well vs the PS4 is only Chat. Noise cancelation works well, but I have no comparison. I do have to take off the headset to hear better when im spoken to in person. You can set it to hear your voice through the headset, but it echoes, which is annoying. Mute works fine
Chat: Says 2 hidden Microphones. You think AWESOME, but Not a fan of the Voice Chat. Sounds like you're talking into a can when chatting during game, but they can still hear you enough to understand from what im told. Its not as loud and clear as wired chat.
Bluetooth: Sound comes in clear. Syncing is easy just like any other Bluetooth device to your smart phone. I have not received a phone call yet while playing but ive made calls to Turtle Beaches Support with no answer from them.
Battery Life and Charging: Magnetic wireless Charging stand (BEST IDEA EVER). Plugs into the PS4 through USB (front) and a Digital Optical Cable (back of ps4) and that’s it. Just set it into the stand correctly matching the Charging Contacts. Use 2 hands to remove from stand because of magnets. Charge lasts long enough to game for 4 hours straight. Can last up to 8 hours at least.
Mobile App: There is a mobile App but it will not connect to my headset. Something about needing "i30 or i60" I need to contact support for this.
Turtle Beaches Customer Support: HORRIBLE so far… Just like a doctor’s appointment or a parent teacher conference… They are only open 9-5 Mon – Friday, which is stupid because I work Monday - Friday from 8-5pm. So to have them help trouble shoot, I would have to take a day off from work! First off they want you to email… finding their number is HELL! Then if you are still having trouble they might call you. Finally found the number. They seem nice and the wait time is amazing… then if you are an elite they give you another number to call… they say they’re open from 9-8pm but I called at 6 and they were closed on 7/13/14 because of the holiday… there is no holiday and they were open earlier that day when I called from work.
IMPORTANT FOR ELITE MEMEBERS: You need to contact Turtle Beach to get the Elite support Number. It is nowhere else to get ahold of, not even in the box upon purchase.

I tried both the Astro A50 and the Turtle Beach elite 800x which are both at the same price point. Hands down the Turtle Beach is the best for the Xbox One. Here's why:
1. Only the Turtle Beach is fully wireless.
2.The docking system is the simplest for recharging.
3. The head set is adjustable and comfortable.
4. Despite other reviews I have read, the microphone works perfectly and has multiple presets.
5. The speakers have a variety of great presets for whatever you are doing.
I would HIGHLY recommend that if you were going to pay this kind of money for a high quality headset, this one would not disappoint.

First off, this is the most comfortable headset I ever wore. They also work with my Xbox one and ps4 (though you use the chat cable on ps4(xb1 needs be in sleep mode if using wireless chat)) Coming from the Astro A50, I had very high expectations for sound quality... And do they deliver. The DTS 7.1X sound is amazing. Thumping lows, clear mids and highs. Games and movies simply sound amazing.
Now, one reason I got these is the lack of custom soundtracks on Xbox one. The Bluetooth function on these cure that with the ability to connect to you tablet, phone or any other Bluetooth device, and the music sounds fantastic.
Comfort? Check. Sound quality? Check. Extra way to listen to music? Check. So, why not perfect? No boom mic. Everybody complained at first that I sounded like I was speaking through a tin can. Through some changes in settings, updates and just straight up using it, things have gotten better. I still don't sound as clear as with the atsros, but still not enough to ruin my sessions with friends. If it weren't for the mic, these would be the perfect headset.

I have the TB Xone headset that plugs into the controller. They are OK but I got tired of the glitchy sound and cut outs when the controller loses connection. I also wanted something I could use to just watch a movie or a tv show without being tethered to a controller. These were the only ones at the time that fit the bill.
-Comfort - These bad boys are heavy, now and then the ear cups pinch my ears against my glasses. However this isn't the case every time and I have been able to wear them from battery full to battery empty sessions with no problem.
-Sound - At first I wasn't wowed by the sound. It was overly full of lows and sounded muddy. Only the signature sound preset sounded good. However, after I downloaded the Destiny preset from the tool on my computer, these cans shined. I also like that you can toss the presets you don't like and keep the ones you do.
Chat - I can only go by what others have said. They said my voice sounds clear, just a little louder than it did with my other headset.
-Convenience - No wires. Truly wireless. Enough said. Also you can also listen to your xbox while streaming music via bluetooth from my phone. That was a sweet surprise.
-Setup - Simple. You connect the optical digital output from the xbox to the charging dock. Then connect the provided USB cable to one of the USB ports on the xbox, the other to the dock. Power on the xbox and you are done.
- Controls - I'm going to be blunt, the button interface on the ear cups just plain sucks. If you barely graze the ear cup say on your sofa, you will hear "bluetooth on" or "tuned for racing". I wish there was a way to turn down the sensitivity but because of the mechanics of the design, I don't think there ever will be. I took a star off for this reason alone.
Appearance - I'm personally not a fan TB green highlights on black. I know it's part of their logo colors, but I would have liked to have seen all black for the premium price you are paying. However, the design of the headphones is streamlined, and no clunky mic is visible. The dock is simple and well designed, the TB logo led is a little distracting. I would have rather just had a simple led indicating charge or in use.
Build Quality - Excellent. The unit feels sturdy and well built. The only thing I wish was that it came with memory foam ear cups or real leather for the price.
Overall, I am very happy with the headset. The criticisms I have I minor and not show stoppers. I have been pleasantly surprised by the performance of the headset and welcome the convenience it provides.

In trying to be all these to all people it makes for a not great gaming experience. The headset is heavy, becomes uncomfortable, but the worst part is the button placement. So many buttons! Yes this represents lots of choice but every time I raise my arm or touch top of my head I’m hitting something that changes my sound selection and now I have to go “round the horn to set it up again”.
There is also some issue with updating and setting the sound choices with the program using the computer, not nearly as smooth as it should be. In fact it didn’t work at all for a time. Support did make a fix and with a full headset reset we got it working again. It does NOT work with the app on IOS.
Charging is also a factor, nice to be able to just place in the dock but sometimes it turns on, sometimes it charges correctly sometimes it looks like it is but (perhaps because it turns on) it doesn’t fully charge. Anyway, always an adventure as to how long the battery will last.
Also never had to fully reset a headset as much as this one. This is supposed to be an “elite” top of the line product, I like some of the lower level choices much better.
Sound is great, rest of it just got too annoying for me and I stopped using it.

So the first set of these headphones I brought home were complete garbage. When I plugged them in and got them all set up, I went to see just how good they sounded by playing some music. Keep in mind I did not turn them to full volume for this test just in case there needed to be some kind of burn in period or something (not sure if that is a real thing but better safe than sorry right). Right from the get go the speakers created a buzzing noise whenever it hit low/deep bass frequencies (almost as if the speakers were blown out). I immediately returned them because there was no way I was going to accept that kind of quality after dropping the cash I did on them. Luckily Best Buy is awesome about these sort of things! I was allowed to exchange them with new ones no questions asked and was in and out in less then fifteen minutes. The first set must have been some freak accident because the second set sounded much better.
Overall I really like these headphones. The sound quality is good, with good dynamic ranges and they also get pretty loud. The noise cancellation works extremely well as does the surround sound. Its awesome having headphones that are completely wireless and the magnetic stand makes for a clean look on my tv stand. There are two cons I have found with these headphones as I have used them. 1) Is that the buttons are very sensitive and can be accidentally pushed if you lean your head back to hard against your chair. Its a bit of a nuisance, but if you're aware of it its not to bad. 2) Is the chat can be a bit echoey, but again for me this was not a deal breaker.
In summery do your research before buying headphones. These are a good choice and work well if your willing to deal with a few nuisances.
I will say this, they are defiantly on the pricey side.

Let me first start by saying, stop reading and go BUY them. No really, I have owned the ASTRO A50s which were good. However, I have had a lot of problems with my A50s and was over it so here I am writing a review on my new headset. The three main problems I had with the Astros are all fix. First, the is no external mic. The other ones kept falling and not staying in place. Second, the base is a charger. I never forget to charge them as they are a rechargable headset. They last forever at least it feels that way. Third, the chat sounds awesome or so I'm told. I used to have problems with my mic popping. One of my favorite features however, is EVERYTHING is wireless no wires to the controller. THIS IS A MUST BUY!!!!!!

I did a lot of research before purchasing this product. I was debating between the ASTRO a50's and these turtle beach elite 800x. I have owned ASTRO headsets in the past and have been very happy with them, but this headset had a couple features that made me take a risk and try them out. I am very happy I made that decision. The wireless cradle charges the headset by just setting them down on it. Astros make you physically plug in a power cord to charge them. The superhuman hearing mode that turtle beach has is very effective in online shooter games to hear not only footsteps, but also weapon reloads and other subtle sounds to give you an edge.
The feature that makes this headset truly elite is the Bluetooth connectivity. It connects to your phone via Bluetooth even while connected to xbox and xbox live chat. This means that even if you are watching or playing something with noise cancellation on, you can still hear the notification sounds from your phone. Also you can make and answer calls with the headset, which is helpful when people call when I'm playing, it will automatically switch between call audio and xbox chat.
The Bluetooth connectivity also allows you to play music wirelessly from any Bluetooth device. You can have play music while you're playing games or even as a stand alone pair of headphones.
My only complaint is that this headset does not have a boom mic. All of the microphones are internal. I have never had anybody complain about not being able to hear me at all, but I have had some people tell me I do sound far away at times. Would have liked a boom mic, which is why I gave 4 stars instead of 5.

The Best Set of Headphones I've Ever Purchased.

I have owned many headphones, some were strictly for music and others were focused on gaming. These headphones are absolutely in the top two of the best I've ever had in regards to audio quality. The other one was my Bose on-ear headphones. Sound is of course subjective to the individuals liking. Either way, they sound is absolutely fantastic for music.
Now, for gaming, the best on the market hands down. The 7.1 surround sound is not in the least bit a gimmick. It really does work. The most impressive part for me was playing Far Cry 4 and being able to pinpoint an enemy location. Which just happened to be up on a ridge, behind me and to the right. You get real surround sound on the vertical and horizontal axis'. You have to connect the optical cable from the PS4 to the base station, that sound is then sent to the headphones. There is also an optical out on the base station so you can still run the PS4 sound to your home theater system. The mic works good and I haven't had any issues with on-line gaming. My friends all say that they can hear me just fine. Now throw in all the features, noise cancelling, several audio profiles, game specific profiles can be downloaded to you phone and loaded up and Bluetooth connectivity so you can take a phone call and receive notifications while in a game. The build quality is absolutely fantastic and for me, they're comfortable for extended periods time with plenty of padding on the cups and on the headband. The aesthetics are great and will look good wherever you have them. And when you're done, just drop them into the magnetic cradle which does a good job of pulling them into place for the charging contacts to connect.
Now for some quibbles. The buttons on the headphones themselves, which blend into the headphones perfectly, are a bit to easy to push. Set-up can be a bit confusing, (just read the directions) make sure you're using the proper USB cable to connect to the PS4 or you will get the sound from the USB connection (you won't get surround sound). Updating needs the use of a computer and physical USB connection, and the included optical cable which works perfectly fine is really thin and coiled into such a tight circle I was afraid I was going to break it stretching it out. Aside from those minor issues, I have had a really good experience with these headphones.
I've owned these for about two months now and I have to say, if you are in the market for a pair of headphones in this price range, I can not recommend these Turtle Beach Elite 800 headphones enough.

Have had Turtle Beach headphones since 2007. These are by far the best ones so far. The ability to listen to music through Bluetooth while simultaneously soundhoring on online games is incredible. I hardly take off the headset around the house. Even though I wear glasses it is a very comfortable headset. Almost no sweating even while wearing for 8+ hours. The numerous settings on the set are incredible. The fact that it can be used while charging (using a mini USB cord) extends the playable life indefinitely.

I bought this headset after my old TB PX 21 broke. I really like them but they were wired so I really wanted some wireless ones. I love my new TB elite 800 set. They are comfortable to wear for hrs. I wear glasses and I still don't feel fatigue in my ears after a long session. The sound is awesome and they have many features to use for different uses. I like the fact that you can connect with Bluetooth while you play so you don't miss a call or text. The charging dock is great and the battery life is great. I love these

Sound quality of mic is a little tinny which is my only complaint. They are COMPLETELY wireless, even with Xbox Live, which is the primary reason we bought them. I really recommend this product for many reasons. One being the noise cancellation is great, can barely hear anything else. Another is that you can listen to music while playing games on a phone or connect to it computer via Bluetooth. Also, I know it it says it's for Xbox One but it connects through a optical audio cable so that's means that it will connect to a PS4 and possibly your PC depending on your motherboard or sound card. That's means that it isn't the same as you plug into your Xbox One controller. Overall, I believe the best is that there is an equalizer built into the headphone, my personal favorite modes are the super human hearing for games like COD and for listening to music I have it on bass enhanced. Thanks for reading and I hoped I helped! :D

Bought this as a present for my other half as our old TB headset was on its way out. It's got an estimated 10-14 hour battery life based on what we are doing with it. It's got great sound and feedback to the headset for it being wireless. Charging station is awesome as well.
A con for this headset is the sensitivity of the buttons on the ears. We often times rest our head back on the sofa and just a light movement of our head in the wrong direction sends the headset loudly declaring into your ears what it's changing too. Then having to stop mid game to readjust the acoustics so you can get back to gaming can be annoying mid fire fight.

This is definitely a solid headset. But it's not perfect, and for the price tag, I would expect it to be closer to perfection than it is. Most of the 'annoying' things can (and most likely will be) fixed with software/firmware updates in the future.
What I like:
- Comfortable
- Good Sound Quality
- Good Battery Life
- Tons of functions
- Neat "elite club" perks
What I don't like:
- Bad software support (At release date)
- No other input type other than Optical.
- Odd combination of control (App, software, buttons)
- Heavy
- "Elite club" website not ready at the time of release.

Here are the pros. This headset sounds amazing and has many different presets and customizable features that most headsets do not have. They are fairly comfortable for long gaming periods as well. This headset has bluetooth capabilities that allow you to stream music, and other content, from your smart phone to the headset, even while gaming! You can also answer phone calls while using the headset as well. The magnetic charging dock is also super convenient and sleek. The craftsmanship of the headset is also top notch. It does not feel cheap at all. The only weak point I see in the headset is the part where the ear cups swivel. This headset also has true wireless chat on the xbox one which to my kmowledge, there may be only 1 or 2 headset out there that allow that. I dont even think the microsoft branded one does that.
Here are the cons. I have been expiriencing several sound issues that randomly happen. First, sometimes my headset will turn all game audio into this robotic sounding screeching noise. During this time, the Bluetooth audio works just fine if I am streaming music simultaneously which means it has something to do with the transmitter. I also experience audio drop outs quite frequently. Some days though, none of this happens. I have performed hard resets as advised by Turtle Beach but this just temporarily solves the problem. The firmware was also updated to the latest firmware update so I know it is not that. That leads me to the next issue. By what I have seen, it appears that there hasn't been an update in quite sometime. It makes me nervous that they are not fixing any problems with this headset anymore. I understand that all of these problems could be interference with my WiFi but for what you pay for this headset, it shouldn't have these problems.
All in all this is a great headset. If these issues I have experienced were non existent, I would go out and say that this is the perfect headset.
