Customers commend the Elite 800 Wireless DTS 7.1-Channel Surround Sound Gaming Headset's exceptional sound quality, wireless functionality, and comfortable design. Many also appreciate its good battery life. However, some users find the buttons overly sensitive, the price high, and the fit snug for larger heads. A few also noted the headset's weight as a potential issue during extended use.

Great sound, but no mic!

The sound and the noise cancellation are great in this headphone. They unfortunately messed it up when it came to the microphone. They tried to disguise the mic by putting it in the headset. By doing this, they do not have a Directional Mic to pic up your voice. Adjusting the headset volume so that you can hear yourself speak was ridiculously bad. I could not hear myself and was yelling too loud for my family who was sleeping. I work with hearing aids for a living and know a thing or two about sound and microphones and Turtle Beach really missed the boat on this one.
I would not purchase this overpriced headset based purely on the microphone issue. If you don't talk and are not worried about communication or if you live alone with your neighbors living a 100yards from you so that they cannot hear you constantly yelling "kill him," then this is the headset for you. Otherwise, I would steer clear as I have. I returned it and went for a less expensive model. I also wrote the company and they declined to comment about it. Read the articles out there, it's a known issue.

Sound great, lite, and works with anything. They say xbox one but if you do optical out from your TV into the input on the receiver for the headphones you can listen to all your devices. And work great for computers/portables that have Bluetooth . My only complaint is the ear cups aren't deep enough for me, my ears touch the back and behind the mesh is hard plastic that hurt my ears after about 2 hours. If it wasn't for my personal problem I would rate 5 stars

The gaming sound as well as comfort are outstanding with these, but during online gaming there was a terrible echo from the other players. As a result I returned these in exchange for the Astro A50 headset and haven't looked back

After several months of looking in-store and research online I was considering buying the Playstation Gold Wireless Headset or the Turtle Beach Stealth 500P for a bit more money. However, I saw these Elite 800 in the store and after trying on the Gold and the 500P I found them not as comfortable. This Elite 800 was remarkably more comfortable in the fit so I made an impulse decision to spend the big bucks, and I am VERY happy I did.
I am not an audiophile but from my perspective, the sound and power from these headphones is great. The audio is clear and full with powerful bass over a wide spectrum. I was surprised by how much more audio there was to my games when I was using these headphones, it was crazy what I was missing playing through regular speakers.
The fit is very comfortable for me and the noise cancelation works very well. It easily filters out ambient room noises but still allows you to know when somebody is talking to you (although you will still need to remove the headphones to understand them). As for fit, they are very comfortable to wear over long play sessions.
Next, I really like that the charging stand doubles as the transmitter so you don't have a huge dongle hanging off the front of the console. The setup took some time and was a bit cumbersome but once done they work perfectly. My only other issue I have with these is that the box advertises you get "Elite Membership" with Turtle Beach which comes with a lot of extra goodies for free. However, Turtle Beach has put the program on hold without notice of when it will resume. So if you're buying this for those "Elite" extra features, consider them nonexistent at the moment.
Overall, these headphones are a bit expensive but they are well worth the money to get the extra comfort if you're looking in the $100 range and are willing to spend a bit more. I highly recommend these to everyone.

Long time TB user and have great experience over the years. I first purchased the Stealth 700 but returned it with sound issues. Friends had the 800X and loved it so I decided to buy it, although it was more than I wanted to spend. It does work great, but occasionally I have interference issues with the sound. Not sure why as I sit all of 6 feet from the transmitter. Thus giving it a 4 instead of a 5 star.

I chose these over the Astro A50 and the new wireless astros that will soon come out. Went in head first on the purchase with a very questionable purchase lol. My first thought was these are not worth the money and take them back. Looking into the instruction manual. I found you can change the sound output to multiple settings. To name a few game mode, bass booster and signature sound which I prefer. THE COOLEST ASPECT IS I CAN LISTEN TO MUSIC AND PLAY MY GAMES! Yes that is correct. I have game volume and music and chat all at the same time. It is actually a neat feature. If you can get past the slight headache of the pressure the headset has on your head. It's not that bad but kind of a flaw. Another flaw is if your resting your head on a pillow. You will most of the time press the side plates/buttons. Pretty annoying. I do recommend them as they do have the most features out of a gaming headset. They sound pretty good as well great for locating when playing fps.

I returned the Astros I bought for these. Bluetooth to your phone picks up and makes calls, while in game, no wires at all. Just set it on the base to charge them. LOUD. Be careful. Touch sensitive buttons, take some getting used to. No boom mic but people hear you fine.

Pros:
- Flawless wireless with easy setup on Xbox one. The base connects to the Xbox one via the optical input. The headset is wirelessly connected to the charging base.
- Bluetooth while gaming works well for not missing phone calls
- Battery Life: I just put it in the cradle every night and I've never had an issue with up to 6 hour gaming sessions.
- Audio Quality is excellent
Cons:
- Very easy to accidently hit the faceplate buttons and screw up the sound while playing
- During extended very quiet game moments it will register as being idle and turn off (VERY ANNOYING)
- Microphone quality isn't as good as a boom mic. My friends commented that I was a little harder to hear.
Overall solid headphone

I have now had these headphones for about a month and I have got to admit, they are excellent.
My main intent for buying new headphones was for gaming but I also wanted to be able to listen to music and watch movies so I really wanted nothing less than an all round excellent listning experience. And the Elite 800X did not disappoint.
The various sound setting are perfect for whatever your preference is and can be modulated to if you are playing games, listening to music or watching movies. You can even calibrate the headphones to the type of games you are playing (shooter, racing etc.)
So essentially I am very satisfied by my purchase. Hopefully it will be a long and enjoyable experience.

My Brother first recommended this headset to me after we had been searching for the "Best" headset for a couple of weeks. At first I thought, "Well that seems a bit excessive!" Boy, I was wrong! After using this headset for a couple weeks now I can never go back to anything less. Games are SO much more immersive, rockband 4 is on a completely different level than it's ever been! And the wireless charging dock... Yes!!! Switching from my chat party to a phone call... Seemless. If you can get these, get them.
Also, because of the cushioned EarPads I can wear these for hours (with seeing glasses, raybans) and no discomfort or ear fatigue which has been a big problem in the past.

First gaming headset, so i can't really compare to others, but the sound quality is great. Like the fact that it has bluetooth and can connect it to my mobile phone. Wish Turtle Beach releases a hotfix though, to update a couple of glitches that i noticed and reported relating to bluetooth connectivity, otherwise great product.

When I bought this headset, I had expectations based on the pricing point and was rather dissappointed.
It is a great headset for sound quality as long as you are not experiencing signal drop, interference from wifi, or dying battery in headset.
The first gripe I had with the headset is there is no forgiveness in the headband. It is stiff and tight. It is also plastic which is easy to break. Ive had previous TB headsets and most of they start to fail at the swivel joint which is also plastic.
The touch pad buttons on the side of the headset are fairly sensitive to the point where if your headset brushed up against the couch as you turn your head, a Loud screaming person yells into your ear "SIGNATURE SOUND MODE" or whatever the preset are set too. There is no volume control on the alert voice that speaks. its loud and only loud.
This headset also does not work with the TB app on the phone. You cant make changes using the app. While there were a few issues I had which were strong negatives for a $250 headset new, this headset was one of the best sounding headsets TB has made.
The following year TB came out with Stealth 600-700 series and these were supposedly an upgrade to 800X as they allowed pairing directly to the xbox one and not through a hub. Very neat feature as long as you do not have Wifi interference or signal drop. But the sound quality dropped big time between 800X and 600/700 headset albeit it being the newer generation toptier.
TB had then gone with a new elite series by the end of 2018 going into 2019 call Elite Pro 2 which was made for xbox console. There was a Elite Pro prior which was marketed to PC gaming but the Pro 2 was specifically meant for Console gaming as it came with a 15ft micro usb to AMP.
I had ended up trading the Elite 800X in for a TB Elite Pro 2+ Super AMP and this was a great trade. The sound quality was not quite as loud as Elite 800X but it was clear and loud enough. I could also use the app controls to change volume vs chat.
Probably the strongest positive about Elite Pro 2s and now the new Elite Atlas is that the headbands and swivel joints are steel and solid construction. The head band is extremely comfortable compared to 800X.
My recommendation for anyone is to buy the cheaper Elite Atlas and use it for Xbox with a TB controller adapter. Elite Atlas was priced around $90 while the Pro 2 (same headset but white) was priced at $130. The Super amp has a separate $100 value and although its not necessary to play, it does keep the sound crystal clear with no sound drop thanks to the micro usb connection to xbox.

Great product. Great overall sound with deep bass. Wish it came with a longer cord in the event of needing to charge, but battery lasts a long time per charge anyway.

This is not my first Turtle Beach headset. I like the sound of this headset, and that's a good thing, because the app doesn't work for IOS and the Ear Force Audio Hub for computer (Windows 10) also doesn't work! The lesser version worked, but it updates automatically and the vers 6.8.4 just not working for me and Turtle Beach has been unresponsive to my inquires. The standard presets work for me and I'm only using it for gaming not music, phone etc. So the headset is working for me. However this is an EXPENSIVE headset to not be able to control it the way I should be able to.
I like the no mic boom but the sidetone audio (being able to hear yourself) is not as good as the headsets I had that did have a boom.
I would NOT buy this headset again. If they fix the app for IOS and fix the computer hub program I might feel differently.

Pros: Good sound when working*
Cons: Sound works intermittently, when the game or movie noise gets quiet the head set cuts off. I changed settings and EQ profiles, always had the same problem. The touch controls are nice but get annoying because they are over sensitive and not intuitive. Last but not least is that the ear cup depth is not enough, so after an hour of playing the ear phones physically hurt my ears.
Other thoughts: I usually always go with turtle beach but this time I cant support their product, not even close to worth the money. I sent these back in for a refund.
