This is a great little speaker doesn't take up much space at all but puts out a great sound SN: when u first turn on your speaker you have to do a software update that is found at http://www.ultimateears.com/en-us/boom/support

I had been looking for a good wireless Bluetooth speaker for years! After reading multiple reviews and best ranking lists I finally decided on this one and I was in luck it was on sale, $30 off! It was one of the best tech decisions I've ever made. The sound is great, the speakers are easily portable but can really pack a punch. They transition easily from a small room to filling the beach with music, over the sound of crashing waves, I was both surprised and highly impressed. They are very easy to use, even for those who aren't tech savvy. They pair quickly the first time and every time. I bought two and doubling up (as UE calls it) is simple, just pair them once then turn them on over and over for flawless operation. I think the best selling point, and you won't know this till you buy it, is the battery life. Mine are WAY exceeding the 15 hours stated. I assume the 15 hours is at max volume, but at a reasonable volume I was able to use the speakers for 16 hours and they only discharged 20%! My only complaint about these speakers is the price, even on sale for $170/each they are a bit pricey, let alone the regular price tag of $200. I still think they are highly worth it, if you can afford them. Otherwise you may want to look at the mini boom for $100/each. I heard the mini boom for the first time last night, someone brought one out on the beach and it was packing the same punch as it's big brother. I can't speak to the rest of its features but the sound quality and the volume were pretty impressive. Overall, I highly recommend the UE boom, I really don't think you'll regret buying it. In fact I recommend buying two and doubling them up for double the sound or just as everyday speakers for around the house. If you can get them on sale, even better!

Pros: excellent sounding speaker, loud, long lasting battery, great designs, easy to use Cons: no controls for music for example pause, play, skip, previous, can only control volume, off and on. Overall I like the speaker, it serves it's purpose, great style, weather proof, you can connect two at the same time but the fact that you cannot control your music from it prevents me from rating it higher.

I sampled a number of wireless speakers, and the Boom had the best sound plus the best uninterrupted connectivity to my devices (laptop, smartphone). I'm able to tote the speaker around to most of the rooms in my home that are on the same floor as device, and it stays connected - even through most of the walls. I can also put the speaker in my bathroom and not worry about steam affecting it. Compared to other speakers in its price range, the sound is very good - and it gets nice and loud without terrible distortion (though you do lose some bass when you crank it). Finally, I feel like I can carry this speaker around without worrying about breaking it.

I'm a huge fan of listening to music and this device makes it easy to take my tunes everywhere! The sound quality is amazing and its has a great range of volume. I work in a very noisy kitchen and have never had to max the volume on it to hear it over the din. It connects easily which is great for the technologically challenged like me and I love that you only have to stop what you are playing in order to let someone else play from their phone to the devise. A friend has a Bose bluetooth speaker and she has to physically disconnect her phone from the bluetooth before the devise will allow another user to connect to it, so glad that the UE Boom doesn't operate with that same annoyance. It's size, weight, and shape makes it easy to just throw into my purse to take with me anywhere and my friends have all come to expect that I'll have it with me. I've taken it on vacation and listened to it at the beach, at pool parties, riding in a golf cart, on a boat, doing yard work, and the list goes on. Great companion for any music lover who wants great sound where ever they are. Oh, and one last thing, the battery life on it great too! I've used it for entire 8 hour shifts and haven't needed to charge it at all durning those shifts if it was at 100% battery life when I started using it.

I have had many different Bluetooth speakers. The UE is my favorite so far. I love the size. The battery life is really good. The app is nice. I don't get any distortion. The Bluetooth hook up was really quick and easy. I'm not trying to fill an auditorium and this has plenty of sound for a room in the house a a room when we are traveling. I use it in our camper also. The bass response is good for this size speaker. Generally speaking the sound is nice and balanced I don't expect it to sound like my living room.

My criterion was that, as a public speaker in small meeting rooms that don't always have adequate sound system set up for video clips and PowerPoints - I needed something with clear sound, that could be set up in an instant without wires but could fill a room sitting 50-90 people. This fills the bill as we travel, particularly in Eastern Europe. The bonus is that in between, there is great sound in our room using an iPhone. Fifteen hours of sound without charging is awesome. And, the charger is small and works on 110 and 220 volt power for USA and Europe, Eastern Europe and Russia. As for the color being called "pink" . . . . well it is more of a red color . . . as a guy I was afraid of it being feminine but, even my granddaughter, who loves pink, when she first saw it on my desk said, "Grandpa, what is that red thing on your desk?" I bought the "pink" one because it was significantly cheaper at the store the day I went to buy it. I really wanted the black, but the cost was too good to pass up. Now I am so glad . . . I have grown into enjoying the "red" one. The sound is great for music or video clips and really has more than enough volume to fill up a room.

The UE Boom having its 360 degree sound, and the capability of hooking up a second Boom for surround sound, I give the UE Boom 5 stars. I have purchased other speakers in the past, but none were this good. I will say that the only ones I did purchase were cheap ones. Before purchasing this one, I purchased a JBL Flip 2. I used to listen one at work all the time, and didn't want to splurge and get the UE. Well I broke down and ended up getting the UE Boom. This speaker can really kick. Now the base isn't so great, but it does still have an amazing sound. The battery life was another important thing to me and this holds a 15 hour battery. THIS DOES LAST! I haven't charged it in over a month and I've only been using it for light use (getting ready in the morning, cleaning the house). and it still has a 50% battery life. The range is about 50 feet for connected bluetooth devices, but can change due to walls, microwaves, etc... One of my favorite features is the clip that comes with it and can be installed on the top of the speaker. I hooked a D clip to it, and now can attach it to anything. It does does have an aux port and it does require that you use the UE Boom micro USB that comes with it, to charge it. If you think that you want to get the bigger UE Mega Boom. I will tell you it is just as light weight., has a 20 hour battery life, the range is 100 feet for connected devices, and the sound is much bigger. A little over kill for my use.

I absolutely love these speakers. I was thinking about buying them for a couple of months prior to when I actually bought them. I read many reviews and after my co-worker bought 2 of them and had them playing from his backpack while we were out surveying for our job; I knew I had to buy some too. I was so impressed with the sound. They have amazing sound quality and can get surprisingly loud! I bought two of them so they can pair to each other. Sometimes I use them together or sometimes I use them individually. The sound system went out in my boyfriends car so we put one of them on the dash and blue toothed our phone to it as a temporary fix. It sounded so good he kept going to turn down the sound on his deck and would start spinning the dial and realized that it wasn't coming from his car speakers. We have also used them outside for parties. We use them in the shower and just set them on the sink. We use them in the shop when my boyfriend is working on his truck. We take them with us when we stay at a hotel making our stay that much more enjoyable! We also have take them hiking with us and put them in the water bottle pouch of our backpacks and it works amazingly! The battery life is good. Make sure you charge them after every use because you never know how full they are and you hate when they die and you aren't in a situation that you can charge them in. SO happy I made this purchase.

After a lengthy comparison between the Bose Sound Link Mini and the UE Boom, the decision came down the the UE Boom. With the sale price tag being several dollars less than the comparable Bose product, the choice was easy. This little sound machine outperformed the Bose in several aspects. The packaging is sleek and contemporary. It made for a fun little unboxing. The product has a sound range that, in my opinion, out did the Bose SLM. I knew my primary use would be an equal marriage of outdoor and indoor use. While the Bose may have had a slight edge in a small room environment, the UE Boom was the clear leader in outdoor sound and the ability to carry and project in all directions. The Boom's 360 degree design is a large contributor to this factor. I've read several reviews of the battery life not lasting, but I've had great success with a long batter life. However, I'm rarely (if ever) using the product at maximum volume. So, if your intention is to have this thing cranking full blast, I think you can expect a much shorter battery life. All around, this product scores top marks with me. Price, Quality, Packaging, Durability, Waterproof, Sound, Clarity, Design, Battery, etc. I'd absolutely recommend this product and already have to several friends. A couple neat little bonus features: - The iPhone integrated app - The ability to pair multiple Boom speakers together to create a "surround sound" effect

This is the best portable Bluetooth speaker you can buy for under $200. The best sound, battery, and design I've experienced. It's even water resistant. Download the app for easy customization. Connect to your computer for firmware updates. Even the charger is high quality. This speaker can also be linked other UE Booms or MegaBooms. I have charged it once since Christmas and use it every day. The battery life is extraordinary. Don't buy the Pill or Jambox. UE should be your next speaker.

I was looking for a small but good sound speaker, I also on a jawbone ( small, not the mini nor the big) and it is very good but I need it something more powerful yet still small to carry around. So one day a friend of mine showed to me this little jewel and loved I tried for a few days and was sold on it. When connected to my iPhone it has the 50 feet range that the product says (I actually measured) even when I have my phone on my back pocket and walk around stays connected with walls between devices, if I walk out then the reception breaks a little ( If I wonder further that the 40-50 range) but as soon as I walk in, it connects again. What I noticed is that if connected to my Mac the connection is not as good, if I move the speaker more than 25 feet away the connection breaks, don't know why? But the music soundscway better when comes from Mac, I can hear instruments and lows and highs than I don't when connected to phone. I use the speaker on all of my Bluetooth devices and never have had a problem with the connection. Before buying i went to Best Buy and tried all the portable speakers they had on site I specialty compare this speaker with the more expensive Bose and discovered that if were to buy a Bose I would be paying just for the name because the sound was quite disappointing for a Bose. Have nothing against Bose their high end speakers are awesome and their $250 and up are much better that those over priced Beats. Anyway bottom line the UE Boom is an excellent small speaker and the best part of it is than in my case I waited until it was on sale and used some certificates that I had so I ended getting it for mere 165!!

If you are even remotely considering buying a Bluetooth speaker, buy this speaker. Is it pricey? Yes, but I guarantee you won't regret it. These things are awesome! I bought two and paired them together for awesome sound. I considered the Megaboom but I couldn't find $100 worth of difference between that and the regular boom. It went a little louder and its water proof so it could, in theory, float around your pool. I don't know about you but i'm not risking $300 to test how long it will float around my pool. The boom is water resistant, which is really all you should need. It is plenty loud in the backyard, in the house or even at the beach with waves crashing in the background. The battery also lasts forever, the company quotes 15 hours but I exceed that on a regular basis. I've tried all three products in this line-up (Mini Boom, Boom, Megaboom) and I think the best value is definitely the Boom. Regardless of which one you buy, I doubt you'll regret it. Like the title says, "Buy it, Buy it, Buy it!"

Initially started out to buy 1 waterproof speaker as my son's Christmas gift. After hearing it in the store, and then running into 2 other people that had first hand experience with the speaker at outdoor parties, I ended buying one for each of my kids and then one for myself. The speaker is surprisingly heavy for its size. It immediately paired with my Mac computer, my son in laws iPhone, and my daughters iPod. I also have an old iPod that did not have bluetooth and it worked excellently using the port for a hard wire connection. Sound is excellent. My son is a music addict when outside and was less than enthused when he opened his gift. 10 minutes later he was in total awe that this speaker put out so much quality sound, even at a high volume. I know that some have commented that at maximum volume there is a little distortion. There is just the slightest hint of it, but its at a volume that I would not have even thought to play the speaker at. This speaker comfortably plays a loud volume for a typical patio party. If you are looking to fill an entire backyard, a second speaker might be necessary. The only thing this speaker does not crank out is base, but for most users, this will not be a factor.
