I paid about a quarter of the price compared to other brands of phone lenses I was looking at. I just wanted something I could throw in my pocket when I go on smaller trips to get some photos farther away. Took clear photos and even has an adjustment to bring the photo into focus. I took picture of my Best Buy gift card from approx 10 feet away. The drawbacks I found were; lens makes image a little darker so be sure to use with lots of light, weight of lens make holding the phone steady a little more difficult, and attaching lens is a little awkward but once it's on the phones lens correctly it seams very secure.

It's a cool concept and works well when set up. However, it takes forever to get it set perfectly over the camera, and then any kind of movement or shaking will move the lens. I bought it to use at concerts, but they're too active to mess around with the lens. It does work well when set up though.

TIP: Mount the clip to the phone and position it directly over the camera sensor before you screw the lens onto the mount. Makes lining up the lens much easier. Make sure the clip doesn't move while threading on the lens. I love this lens. I bought it on a whim while looking at the wide-angle 3-in-1 set also made by SmartLens. Given the price, both are great products in my book. The build quality isn't the greatest. The whole thing is made of light weight plastic, and it feels pretty cheap. Once you clip it on, it does wonders though. I'm using a rather low-end Samsung Core Prime phone, which doesn't have a great camera, but this thing made distance shots much nicer. There is a bit of distortion around the edges of the frame, most notably on objects that are fairly close to the camera. This is a minor problem for me, as I'd say that 80% - 90% of the picture is distortion free if the lens is properly aligned. I only have two real complaints about this lens. First, the focus ring binds on mine. Since it's made of cheap plastic, it's not made to great tolerances, and mine has some serious friction at one spot when turning the focus ring. It rotates fine in one direction usually, but in the other, it binds up if your turning it slowly. This makes setting up a quick shot kind of a pain because if your not careful, you'll end up moving the lens trying to get the focus ring to move again. Then you have to try to move the lens back into position, which can be a pain. The bonus is that focusing is pretty easy with the camera's auto-focus. You get the lens close, and the camera can usually do the rest. The second complaint is actually just an inherent problem with secondary lenses on smartphones, and that is the flash becomes useless. Given the fact that smartphones tend to mount the flash very near the camera, you can imagine what happens when you attach a 2+ inch long lens protruding out in front of it. Note, this is not something you use to snap a quick pic of something in the distance. The lens is quite bulky, and the phone needs to be handled with some care when the lens is mounted to avoid accidentally moving it, requiring a realignment. Attaching the lens takes a bit of time at first, as you want to make sure the clip is perfectly lined up with the camera, then attach the lens to the clip. Then you have to focus it, which can take a few seconds if yours has the same binding problem mine has. Basically just keep in mind there is a small bit of setup to do before you take a shot. Also, if you have a very thick case on your phone, this may not work. For best results, the clip needs to be directly on (i.e. touching) the camera window on your phone. On one of my phones, the case is thin and the camera is only about a half millimeter from the clip and it works great. The other one has a thicker case, and the clip floats about 1 to 1.5mm above the camera. It's still usable, but the distortions are more noticeable and it's much more important to line up the lens perfectly, which becomes a serious issue when the focus ring binds. The advantage to this one over most others is it may be available locally, so if it doesn't work with your phone/case, it's easy to return it.

It's a very clever idea, but it can be finicky to align. Does not work while my phone's case is on, but it would be very difficult to design something to fit all of them. Once it's centered over the phone's lens, it produces a nice picture.

The telephoto lens works well but does not fit very snuggly. When trying to turn focus it easily slips and off centers. Overall a good product.

I use it with a sony xperia z5 compact, you can really zoom with this very far, my phone haves a 23 megapixel camera but the photos with this look like if it was 8 megapixel good but not cool also you need a tripod for pictures becase they take a long time to focus, but i recommend it for videos those look cool i can record concerts when im very far far and look very nice.

This product works great for taking photos I tried it on a Iphone 6s plus, Samsung Note 5, and a Samsung galaxy 6S, and it fits these phones just fine. The con is that it does not fit on any of the HTC M Series Phones. And I think you can guess which phone I have yes an HTC M9. I also owned the other phones before and since they are pretty much the same phone and the position of the camera is lower than most phone out there. So it is pretty safe to say that it is not a universal and does not fit on all phones as it says on the product. I tried the all of the lenses by hold then to the back of my phone and they work just great. The only reason this got a 3 star rating is due to it saying that it fit all phones on the package and it does not. I was really excited to start using this product and I was left with a feeling like the HTC community was over looked. But they work great on the other phones mentioned above. So if you don’t own an HTC M Series phone this would be an excellent item for you .

Thought this was a pretty cool idea. My son travels and likes to take pictures of the animals he sees with his phone. Sometimes they are far away; with this little camera for his phone it helps bring the animal in closer. Only draw back, if you can call it that - you have to keep it steady; but that is with any camera.

This is a very inexpensive lens, so I really didn't expect much from it. It was easy to attach and remove, but difficult to line up with the phone's camera lens. When I tried to focus, the lens would move and go out of alignment. With my note 5 that had a case on, it was hard for me to focus and vignetted badly. With my old Galaxy 4 and no case it was better. There was no vignetting, but I can't see removing the case every time I want to use the lens. Perhaps I will get better with this lens as I use it more,

This small investment helped capture some wonderful pictures. It worked very well on my HTC One M8, but did not well for the iPhone 6s because of the way it clips on to the phone. You MUST rest the clip on the phone itself so that the pictures do not come out blurry. I would recommend it for non-iPhone users for the minimal investment.

The spring clip base that holds this lens is very easy to use. The lens screws into the base, similar to a lens on a camera. Once the lens is in, it takes a little adjusting to get the whole thing cantered on the phone's camera lens. But it holds well once it is in place. The lens is surprisingly clear, for the cost.

The lens doesn't take into account the width of the phone case. This means that optimal images require you remove the case. That's simply not going to happen.
