When I first saw this flick, I wasn't sure what to make of it. On one hand, it has brilliant sequences in the film, strong emotions, interesting premise. On the other hand, some scenes drag on forever boring me out of my mind. In the film, The Brown Bunny, the long silent driving scenes work and work flawlessly. In this film, they just don't. BUT, everything else in this film does work.
And I happened upon this blu ray with a slipcover on sale for $10 so for that price, it's worth adding to the collection.

Unusual and fun to watch

Under the skin was an unusual sci-fi movie to watch because of the role Scarlett Johansson played in it. She played an alien very well, or at least how I pictured an alien would behave, i.e., unfamiliar with local customs, on a mission unique to her, but having to interact with the locals. Her character seemed to be affected by the locals, despite stark differences, and made a good story plot. The supporting cast did not overact but provided good backdrop and interesting interactions. Not award winning, but fun to watch.

Scarlett Johansson plays an alien life form that feeds on human beings. But first, she, it, seduces her victims. I know, like where do I sign up?
This is an amazing film by an amazing filmmaker. It's a scifi head trip that takes the viewer to strange new worlds as our protagonist seems like to fall in love with our world.
Give this movie a chance. Our lovely Scarlett excels in an atmospheric role.

This is a british film, and the cinematography and special effects were interesting, but the story leaves some to the imagination. Not a whole lot of information is given. It was a great watch for the mystery and visuals. I purchased it from the bargain bin for less than $10. I wouldn't have paid full price of $25 for a new blu ray. I recommend picking it up if you've never seen it, and if you like Scarlett Johanssen.

I didn't enjoy the movie despite Scarlett Johanson being naked in numerous scenes. That's the only reason I gave it any stars. It was just too bizarre. At least it was on sale for $5. Now I know why.

The best way to enjoy this movie is to first have someone tell you (basically) what it's all about. Then you can appreciate and analyze the story-telling, without being preoccupied by trying to figure out what-the-heck is going on (and getting frustrated).
If you do that, you will discover how interesting and original the movie really is.
Think of it like watching "The Sixth Sense" the 2nd time around.

The Under the Skin Blu-ray was discounted when I bought it. It is an unusual SF film to say the least. It, in my opinion, is one of those movies that makes you rethink what you thought through repeated viewing. What is happening? Is there also some sort of social critique behind what you see? Well, it is for you to find out. Let me just say that Johansson does quite well in this film. Don't miss it from the bargain bean.

Original and unique film. PQ was outstanding and nearly 4K quality. I highly recommend the bonus features because it is interesting to see how they made this movie, plus casting.
Scarlett Johansson is riveting but she is challenged by a unique role here.
The score is also a major
factor here, and sound effects are really immersive.
Any chance of a sequel I'd be all for it!

Scarlett Johansson Scarlett Johansson Scarlett Johansson. Scarlett Johansson Scarlett Johansson, Scarlett Johansson, ha ha. Scarlett Johansson Scarlett Johansson. You know what I mean? Right? Scarlett Johansson. No but for real. It was a strange movie. And if Scarlett Johansson wasn't in it, I probably wouldn't have bought it. Hey what can I say......Scarlett Johansson. So I give it a thumbs up and four stars.

Although flawed in a couple of ways involving plot details nearing the end of the movie things start to fall into place however questions still remain thus the reason for the 4,stars. It is also a little long. There is a dark vibe to this movie and lots of flesh shown but it kept my interest. If your a ScFi enthusiast I suspect you will like it.

I'm not going to lie. This is a hard movie to follow. There is so little dialogue outside of a few choice scenes that it requires the viewer to deduce the story using their eyes and questions. For some, even many, this isn't the type of movie that is enjoyable. But if you like a movie that makes you think and had some very good cinematography in parts, give this movie a try.

Best Movie of The YEAR

I doubt there will be a better film released this year, if not a few years to come.
Every single second, every shot choice, every musical cue, every edited cut, every length of time, every facial expression shown by the characters... was perfect. I truly doubt that this film could have been any better, because it was already perfection in my eyes.
From the very moment she picks up an ant, cut to a close up of it's squirming face, cut to a foggy shot of a city building, I knew I would enjoy this movie far more than normal.
This is the type of film that can only be experienced in a movie theater. To view it anywhere else would take away from the overall impact. But, I bought the blu-ray anyway, and it did not disappoint. Lacking on the bonus features, but thats alright. Still enjoyable.
I cannot recommend this film enough. It is absolute perfection. It is moving art.

I'd give it a 5, but it suffers from poor editing. There were a lot of shots that just plain went on too long, and others that lingered around just long enough to be annoying. Otherwise, an interesting concept.

Under the Skin is purposefully a very slow and quiet movie. It likes to sit in it's tension. Definitely not a movie for everyone, but I really enjoyed its atmosphere and ideas. Although, I felt that the second half of the movie takes a less tense and more predictable turn that I enjoyed less.
