We live in the suburbs, but the land behind our home is very hilly and heavily wooded with a creek running through it. My 13 year old son was wanting more independence and freedom to explore without me tagging along all the time or when I simply was too busy with other things to be able to go with him. We got these for him as a way to keep track of him and in case of trouble such as a slip/fall with an injury. They are better than having a cell phone as it is instant communciation. I saw some of the reviews on poor range and signal, but decided to try them anyway. I'm glad I did as these turned out to be awesome and have not had any trouble with them at all. I can be inside the house while he is out exploring all over the hilly terrain without losing any signal at all. The reception is awesome even when I am in the basement. It's a great bonus to be able call him home without yelling at the top of my lungs and having all my neighbors hear, but not him. Even when we go deep into the woods together and head opposite directions, we never loose any reception. We're going to buy another set, so he can explore with his buddies and I/we can still check in with each other periodically.

I bought four (two 2-packs) of these radios and I love them. Great features, sound clarity is good, range is good, and they are easy to program.

I had to wait two weeks for these to come in since they were unavailable in store. Work perfect when I'm ice fishing with buddies on lake Erie.

I had no problem using these at long distance. I would buy again!!

We got these for use while hiking and kayaking. They are easy to use, the headset is perfect!. Love them!
