I did my research before choosing the R3. After a month with it, I couldn't be happier. The range is incredible, the display is great with compass and speed, and can be set to auto dim brightness at a time you select. In city mode I get almost zero false alerts. Choose this or the R1 for an even better deal (no gps on R1)

Bells and whistles and bands and lasers make no sense to me. I want to know which areas I drive through require just a bit more caution and I want to know which areas are a false alarm. With this Uniden R3 not only do I get the comfort of knowing its a brand I trust, I get the ease of a one-button "set it and forget it" system. When passing through areas with automatic doors and such that trigger the false alarms it is literally with the press of a button that I never have to check again for police, ambulances, or other systems that trigger the radar detector. With those, I also get an amazingly long range of radar detection knowing when there is an accident or speed trap and whether to avoid the area or resume cautiously. Being in the middle of the road on price was definitely a big part of my decision in purchasing this, I didn't want too cheap to where I wouldn't trust it but not too expensive to where satellites would set it off. I feel confident in this radar detector and I would recommend this model to anyone that wants that extra level of precaution while on the road.

Yes this unit works like a charm. Great features like gps lockouts to eliminate those repeat false warnings in those troublesome areas. Easy to set up and use the many features this Uniden provides !

I traveled a lot from state to state and this has been the best radar detector I've ever used. I've picked up radars several minutes ahead of me (or from behind). Easy to use and the GPS is fantastic. For city driving, definitely put it on CITY mode and it will filter out a lot of false readings.

Tast device on Interstate 57 daytime and night was really accurate. Confident to speed up 90-110 mph no problem. Detect pig trap from miles away. Device is pack of futures and easy to use but power cable should be longer. I am highly recommended.

The detection on this thing is insane. Sometimes miles. Plenty of time to slow down. It is extremely loud when you get an alert. Such good quality for a reasonable price. Don't think about it, just buy it. You will not be sorry

Great for price, detects laser from a great distance. KA band sounded over 5 miles from point of origin on a winding hill country back road.

Last detector I owned was from the late 80s. Let me tell you this is a completely different beast. In the configuration menu there is enough settings that you can get this pretty well mixed up-I would strongly recommend taking some time in reviewing some YouTube videos on how to set up your notification alerts, and which bands are in use in your state/area. Once I did this the false alerts were significantly reduced yet I still feel I’m getting very adequate notification. The detector runs warm-although this hasn’t been a detractor to how it performs which is at a very high level. This detector isn’t cheap, but then well-made, well functioning things never are!

It is a truly great unit for the price. I've had passengers tell me that the distance for detection of radars is better than their own, more expensive radar detector. The only minus is the lock out feature for stray radar signals needs to be improved as some times it forgets.

I did a lot of research before buying this radar detector, and all the reviews were definitely correct. It is great. I usually drive in pretty rural area‘s so I leave it on the most sensitive mode all the time. When I drive in the city it goes off more than some people might like, but I prefer the false alarms over possibly missing one. There are settings on it that I haven’t even begun to take it avantage of I would probably limit them but I don’t bother.

Works really well and does exactly what it’s supposed to. The only minor downside is the sounds it makes they can get a little annoying sometimes. Other than that, I absolutely love this thing!

Works very well. Picked out 2 speed traps in 3 days. Malls, banks, supermarkets have cameras and scanners and it will set those off as well but overall very happy with device.

I love this radar detector. I have owned several and frankly speaking I NEED one.... As an auto enthusiast it’s a necessary tool to have and having one that is very very simple to program and get functional quickly so I can get to driving is important. I like the quite ride feature quite a bit and the LED light set up has some very nice color options if you like that sort of thing, additionally the detector comes standard with the “smart cord” that is a plus for sure, all you need to buy in the box. Watch a quick video to get the idea on how to program and your off the the races. The range (Ka) is on par or better then anything else I have used and as of yet, has not let me done while enjoying any of my M cars.

I’ve own a couple radar detectors (cobra/ Escort passport 9500) and the Uniden R3 has a great user interface. Has good BSM which is VERY common now a days I realized. I haven’t used a detector 5 years ago and a lot has actually changed with MRCD and more and more cars using BSM. I get a few false alerts but it’s normally a quick alert and I’m learning it seems to be GMC. Long story short I did a bunch of research and this is the best. I wanted to sell myself on a Escort but I keep seeing in reviews/test they are double the price. If you don’t need the GPS save the hundred bucks and get the R1. Same under the hood performance just no gps. Oh and updating the firmware is a PAIN but finally got it to work after trying on both Mac and PC.

I have been a big fan and supporter of uniden. I own the R3, R7, and R8. For an entry level stand point and ultimate range the R3 is great. The negative is uniden is knonw to be a more noisy radar however this does improve with the R7, and R8. My R3 has had zero issues. If you are in the market and looking for an evtry level radar with great capabilities the R3 is simply the best

This radar detector hasnt failed me yet, it picks up signals miles ahead. I'm never caught off guard! When its time to biy another unit, it will be the same brand. So if you are in the market for a radar detector that will keep you notified of potential hazards both in the area and miles ahead; then here it is...get you one!
