I bought this cause I wanted to organize my Yamaha YHT-397 home cinema rear speakers. I was waiting for it to get a little cheaper and now I think it reached the right value and decided to go for it. Installed it yesterday. Really easy to set up. I had to spend some time to cut the speaker wires but other than that, in 30 minutes I had everything ready. Really happy with the sound quality. This product saves a lot of trouble with cables and space.

    Great rear speaker components

not having wires leading to the rear of the room, and having infrared technology to drive the rear speakers, I am satisfied for the most part with this speaker system. There is a distinct hum if you power up the speakers prior to powering up the main stereo receiver/amplifier. You must turn on your stereo before powering up the rear remote speakers. Easy to install and follow directions.

I'm not a super crazy audiophile, but when a friend gave me his old onkyo stereo system, I learned to appreciate surround sound. Unfortunately, unless your house comes pre-wired, the fact is if you want rear speakers, there will be some cable running around the place. I didn't want that, and I'm willing to accept a slight loss of quality in sound. As a result, I watched this unit at best buy and when someone returned a system, I bought the open box version for a discount. Frankly, the system works, and if that's really all you care about, then that's pretty much all you need to know. It requires a power socket, and you will have some piggybacking devices on your receiver, but ultimately, when I watch movies on blu ray or on Netflix, I get good quality surround sound. I don't hear any static, and I run it right beside my current wireless n router, but I'm certain someone who REALLY REALLY cares will notice some audio issue. I don't, and I'm pretty happy with the system. I would definitely recommend the setup especially if you see an open box.

5 Minute Setup - No Brainer

5 minute setup and viola! Rear speakers on my home theater with MINIMAL WIRES! Worked perfect right out of the box. I have vaulted ceilings with minimal accessability so didn't want to spend the money to pull wires. 2 salesmen and reviews both here and links through the Rocketfish website said it would work great. Best of all, I can transfer it this spring/summer to my patio for stereo music/TV while entertaining. Great product for the price.

Wow. Affordable "wireless" rear speaker setup

This set up is NOT for those who think they are going to carry around and put their rear surround speakers in any place they want like a cordless phone. This is NOT a true wireless setup. No such thing exist for rear channel 5.1 surround setups. This setup is for those want to get rid of the wires stuck underneath carpet or along the side of walls to speakers in the back of their living "theater" rooms. You will have wires from your rear speakers to the transmitter and the transmitter requires power from an ac outlet. My set up for the last 5 years has been speaker wire running along the baseboard and carpet to the rear speakers in the back that are sitting on top of a buffet. Now the eye soars are gone. I was going to get the $250 Bose wireless setup until I found out I had to get a $700 to $3000 Bose system for the wireless setup to work. The $100 Rocketfish work great. I cannot tell the difference in my 5.1 surround sound system from my old wired setup. And NO they do not interfere with my wireless network. I am a very happy camper.

With tile floors and being too lazy to run wires for a surround sound system, the Rocketfish wireless speaker system was a dream come true. The setup was immensely easy and the seperate volume controls make balancing the rear volume a snap.

This product worked better than I expected. The sound is clear and there is no delay like I had expected. I have this hooked up to my rear speakers and this is capable of handling my Klipsch S-1 speakers. I would recommend this product to anyone who does not want to run wires to their rear speakers. Once in a great while the speaker will pop at random.

I was skeptical of buying this, but read the reviews and tried it out. I have to say, I wasn't expecting much sound to come from the rear speakers after I had them hooked up, but it really put out quality sound. The set up was faily easy, but I wish they would put some higher quality speaker wire terminals on the units. All in all, it was a great purchase since I cannot run the speaker wire for the rear speakers for my home theatre.

This is a very good value for the price. I hooked the unit up within 5 minutes and it worked perfectly right away. I haven't noticed any delay time with the sound, and the volume of the back speakers is easy to adjust to your liking. Every once in a while there is a loud pop sound that comes out of the speakers. Not sure why the unit transmits that, but it's pretty rare and not too noticeable. I usually have to remember to turn the back unit off (the front unit is plugged in to my receiver, so it turns off automatically when the receiver turns off) since the red light on the unit blinks constantly, and it's a relatively bright light. Kind of a minor annoyance, but it would be nice if the unit had a sleep mode rather than just blinking all of the time.

    RocketFish To The Rescue

    Posted .

I just moved to a new place and the layout of the room would not accommodate speaker wires running across the floor. My front speakers and center channel were not an issue as there was no foot traffic; however, the two rear speakers were an issue. I came across the Best Buy site and read reviews on the Rocketfish. The package came with very basic speaker wires. Luckily, I had enough of my own speaker wire and used it instead. The sender was hooked up with the speaker wires to the back of the amplifier. The AC adapter was plugged into an outlet. The receiver was hooked up to the two rear speakers with speaker wires. The plug was unraveled from the bottom of the unit and into the wall. The sender light would blink until the signal was received by the receiver. The light on the sender would then turn a steady red. The volume on the receiver is set to low initially and would need to be turned up. Overall, the sound quality is good. I agree that when I turned off the system, there was a hum coming from the rear speakers. I personally do see it as an issue to power off the units when not in use. I am happy with the performance of this product, especiall for the price.

I hooked this up with my Sony Bravia 2300 Home Theatre system. The Sony rear surround speaker wires come with special connectors to plug into the receiver, so I couldn't use the wires that came with the Rocketfish. I called Best Buy and they explained the simple set up to me. I cut the Sony wires in half and connected the half with the connectors from the receiver to the Rocketfish sender unit. Then I connected the other half from the speakers to the Rocketfish receiver unit. The hardest part was removing the 3/4 inch of plastic to expose the wire ends without cutting the wires (my tool was a kitchen knife). I turned everything on and it worked like a charm! The sound is great. I have the receiver unit right next to a cordless phone unit and there is NO interference whatsoever. I was able to get the home theatre system that I wanted even though it didn't come with wireless rear. Rocketfish was the perfect solution.

    So far so good

It has been working to connect our speakers upstairs for a few years now, and it still works pretty good. We have had a few issues with it where something would happen and it would produce static or weird noises but all it took to fix that was to unplug it and plug it back in and it started working again. Not sure what caused that.

This product is definitely worth it. Low cost but delivers great sound. Very easy to set up. Love not having wires run all over the room. Only wish we could use it for more then 2 speakers.

I have only had this product about a week. I have also read others reviews as well. So far, I have not experienced any issues whatsoever with this product. Great sound quality and makes life much more convenient. We have a cathedral ceiling in the living room, along with an exterior door along one wall as well. The way our living room is shaped it was unrealistic to run speaker wires without having to fish it under the carpet across the room. I will update if I do experience any issues. But as of now, great quality and no issues with the speakers being too quiet and the volume on our Rocketfish receiver is only turned up halfway as well. Sounds great with my new Denon system we just purchased!

I bought this to make my living room a 7.1 surround sound and let me tell you it works great. If you looking to hook up your back speakers without running the speaker wire all through the livingroom, this will do the job. There is no interference whatsover and it has long range. It took like ten minutes to set up. I recommend it to anyone that needs a wireless rear kit.

I've had this wireless system for a few weeks and I think it's great. Let me say that I am very picky (neurotic) when it come to A/V. There were a lot of complaints about this product everywhere I read. One of the major issues seemed to be that people were getting a hiss if they where listening to a non-surround or 2 channel source. My unit does not do this. When listening to 2 channel output the rear speakers are completely silent. I also have not heard any echo so far. The one issue that others have had that I have had as well is the occasional "pop." This however happens so infrequently that it is a non-issue. I perhaps here it once every three films. It can also happen when there is nothing playing. As far as quality of sound goes this system sounds great. I have Polk Audio rear speakers and I cannot detect any difference from when they were connected by wires. For $99 for me this is a no brainer. I'd buy it again.

I had this product for over 2 years. At first it worked pretty well, but after a while I noticed it would lose connection frequently. Then it started popping once or twice a day. By the end it was more hassle than it was worth, constantly tweaking it and and rebooting it. I finally just wired the speakers in.

Simple and easy to use/hook-up. I was still slightly limited to where I could put it due to the fact that you still have to run wires from the receiving unit. It is nice not to have to run wires all the way from my stereo receiver however. Works like a charm.
