Universe good BUT no what I expected

This film does little to excite. Blu ray is filled with tons of probability but lacks any actual content that isn't computer generated. Film sets of plenty scenarios, but delivers very few facts and real imaging. I wasn't pleased with animation. If you are expecting NASA, Hubble, or telescopic images don't get this one.
The film's 7 wonders may leave you wondering why did you buy this one.
Not bad for entertainment but does very little for education. Many hypothesis formulated and computer generated outcomes based on current knowledge.

Well-produced episodes. 3D adds a lot

When I ordered this, I wasn't sure what to expect. I had not seen the series on TV so it was all new to me. The documentary episodes are all very well produced and certainly worth watching if your interested in space and space exploration. The "feature" of this DVD of course is that it is in 3D. It brings many of the scenes to life. The only downside is, and admittedly this is *very* minimal, these episodes contain a lot of on-camera interviews with scientists and other subject experts. In some of those cases, the use of 3D simply seems out-of-place. However, as I said, that's a very minor complaint. Overall, it's well worth the watch!

I am happy I bought this movie. The 3d experience and effects are spectacular. It is almost as if you were the camera lens taking these images. Beautiful and vivid colors.

I won't waste people's time talking about the actual content of "The Universe". This has been one of my favorite science series for the last several years but if your bored by the content, you won't be thrilled enough by the 3-d version to make you fall in love with it. The price is right however, at $9.99 to give it a try if your so inclined. It's not up to the demonstration quality of your favorite 3-d action movie but the CGI outer space animation is very effective and graphically pleasing to the eye. Even the scenes with the individual physicists talking to the camera are enhanced by the added depth and 3-dimensional perspective. Recommended especially to people who are already fans of the series or science series in general.

This is a great documentary regardless of how many dimensions you view it in :) . In 3D BluRay, however, it brought a big grin to my face. The added depth is magical. I took away one star because I would like more of the 3D effects to come out of the screen rather than recede into it. I realize this is a matter of personal preference.

OK. Decent documentary. Not the best 3d, not the worst.

A neat Blu-Ray for anyone interested in Astromony/The Universe. The 3D was a cool effect but I did not find it added as much to the experience as other "regular" movies (ex: Avatar, Gravity, Life of Pi). Still a neat educational movie that is fun to watch.

My grandchildren loves watching this documentary in 3D about our universe, which I don't blame them. The 3D effects are well done and on the plus side they are learning about our universe.

I bought this to test the 3D on my new Samsung blu-ray player and my new 7100 series TV. 3D is pretty interesting. The various vignettes on the disc could be longer, but there is a fair amount of material here and the 3D seems to work well.

if you want to see lot our tennis clubs are saying for the first time in Space. And watching it in 3-D to be exact it comes alive on your screen this works and I can print movie it looks like you're passing stars and planets. This is just such a fantastic science thing. That I've just gone in love with this. Since science programs are being cut back in public schools today we might want to consider this for your kids together over the science in my life's. Buy it if you can

Same shows you can see on the science channel but in 3D. I bought it to check out the 3D capability of my new projector setup. The effects are well done and now I use it to demo it for others.

Got this on impulse so I could demo and test the 3d features. It is a documentary, fairly interesting, but not like an action movie. If you like watching the History channel, then you will enjoy it.

The 3D effect especially on the space shots was quite nice however the episodes included apart from the first seemed more concerned with earth and less about the vastness of the universe.

This is a very interesting documentation of the universe and what is known about it today. The explanation of the 'Big Bang' and the formation of stars, planets and galaxies is riveting.

I thought the 3D would have been better. Was a little disappointed at first, as I thought it was going to shoe Hubble shots in 3D. It was focused on future missions to Mars.

I found the video to be interesting. It is kind of a what if we do this what might happen on mars. Have not watched chapters 2 and 3 yet but i like it so far.

Overall the movie was good. I really liked the special effects in it, both the 3D and Non-3D versions. I also liked how they put the story together. I have seen the story done before a couple of times and this one is just as good as the others. Aside from the Special features not being as much as I would have thought I really liked the movie and it was a good buy and addition to my 3D collection. :)

Good documentary in 3D. Menu navigation was stopped after viewing either an episode or entire DVD. Had to unplug my player to get back on the main menu.
