Upright Go - An Effective Way to Improve Posture

I found that the Upright Go Posture Trainer is an effective way to improve one's posture. I had back surgery 35 years ago and had 3 discs removed from my lower back. I pay careful attention to my posture most of the time. Sometimes when my back brings discomfort, I attribute it partially to my posture. In becoming familiar with Upright Go, it was easy to recognize the thought that went into the product. Everything seemed to work seamlessly. The Go is powered by USB with indicators for power status and connectivity. The device connects via Bluetooth and app from the appstore to, in my case, my iPhone 10. Once connected to the phone, the Upright Go is attached to the top of one's back. A thin layer of adhesive holds it there. In using the device, there are two modes - training and tracking. Training involves configuring the device to operate and tracking is the tool that determines how effective is the status of one's posture. Training Is a 5 minute operation and tracking runs for an hour. It was recommended that both of these operations run 3 times a week. The device measures and relays posture information to the app on the phone. I have only used this device for a few days but It seems to me that if someone wanted or needed to improve their posture, this device would be a very good help toward better posture.

When this device did work, it was mearly okay. Working from home caused me to be glued to a desktop pc and desk for 8 hours a day. So I bought this to assist with my posture. However it's mearly okay, I guess. I got used to the alert buzzing and wouldnt feel it. Now after a month and 10 days it no longer keeps a charge, so I dont used it at all. When did reachout to customer service they were worthless, and now their warranty window is passed. Thanks for nothing. I would definitely NOT recommend this device to anyone.

Since my wife is a physical therapist, we were quite interested in a device that will correct my "computer posture" that I've developed over the last 30 years. Enter the Upright Go Posture Trainer! It definitely delivers on it's promise. After receiving the device and charging for a bit, I easily paired it to my iPhone and installed the Upright Go app. Very simple install and bluetooth pairing - no errors as all. The app walks you through the setup, account creation, etc and provides information on Training vs Tracking. Training mode sets the device to vibrate gently when you fall out of position. It sets goals for you for each day - with each goal a bit longer than the first to help correct posture to become a habit. I think this will work well - but know that the device is pretty sensitive and even bending over to pick something up or even looking down may cause the device to trigger. So - just sit straight and walk straight while training. Tracking mode does not vibrate - but simply tracks your posture for reporting in the app and for you to review later. I haven't used this much yet as I'm still in "training". For those concerned with the vibration - don't be. It is a gentle tingle that only alerts you to your posture. No big deal at all. Overall - I believe the device can work if you wear it diligently and go through the entire "training" process. I'll update this review more in t he next weeks.

This small little device is pretty cool. It's quick and easy to set up and use right away. I'm wearing it now as I type the review. It is very small, so it's easy to for under your clothes. You essentially calibrate the device to your upright position through the app. Then it will vibrate once you start slouching. You can even see a visual through the app that that shows your posture, whether good or bad. It will show a person in red when you're slouching and green when you're sitting/standing correctly. The packaging is rated at 3 stars. I had THE hardest time trying to open the box. I broke a nail all the way to the quick, so I'm not too pleased with that. The inner box is way too tight.

It was working great for the 3 days we had it. We called the company to get a replacement at a discount. They were not very helpful. If you want it to work well without falling, consider the necklace. I just don’t know how feasible that will be.

The app and the concept are fantastic. I have a forward curvature of my upper spine which can be helped by retraining my muscles through good posture. Simply put, I slouch and it’s more comfortable than sitting and standing correctly. This product DOES help me remember to stand up straight. The slight vibration is like my mother’s tap on my shoulder to straighten up. The app shows how I’m doing and it plainly works. It is not invisible. It’s like having a hotel soap bar stuck with adhesive to my upper back. In the current cold weather, it’s easier to hide, but in summer I will not be able to wear it under a plain T-shirt without it being noticeable. Hopefully by then I’ll be trained beyond needing it!!

In the box is the posture device, charging cord, additional adhesives and alcohol pads, quick guide and the posture device carrying case. Beware, this product is extremely small and easy to lose. I definitely use the carrying case and I attached an extra arm wristlet band to mine for even more visibility.   The posture device is extremely easy to set and use. I used mine out of the box and it last for almost two hours. Set up is on an app, plug in your email and some additional information and you are all set. When I first started using the device, I used the training mode. You set your posture setting and start training. This is the setting that buzzes you when you start to fall out of your posture setting. You can change the intensity of the buzzes, I kept mine to the original setting. The first training of 7 minutes was a nightmare. I was using my phone and after the first 5 buzzes, I adjusted the way i was sitting and I finally stopped getting buzzed. After 5 minutes, I started getting buzzed again and noticed that I got back to my old position. The app notified me that my training was over and I could switch to tracking mode. With this mode it just monitors you, no more buzzing. After the first day, I started getting emails with extra tips and tricks. After the first couple of days, I started getting tips and tricks in the app. These both were very helpful, I learned how to set my posture with the device, itself instead of using my phone and the app. Overall, i love this product. With all of the buzzes the first week, i find myself readjusting my posture on my own mostly and at work, I tend to start out sitting perfectly in my chair. I have noticed the difference of sitting looking down at my phone, bad posture, and sitting up straight looking at my phone. The upright position does feel much better. Would I purchase this product again and recommend to friends and family? ABSOLUTELY!

Summary: This is a pretty useful device is you are trying to work on your posture. Set up is simple, it is relatively unobtrusive and it works well. Unboxing: The packaging is small. Essentially, just a little cube. The device is inside with a box of information, alcohol wipes and adhesive strips. There is a micro USB cable and a carrying case inside as well. Setup: Setup is easy, download the app, press the button to pair it and make an account. I tested it out on my iOS device and my Mac. After the initial setup, press a button to connect it and work on your first training session. It was only about six minutes but it got me to be a little mindful of my habits. I then set it up on my mac with the app available in the app store. All that is to be done is connect it to your phone and then scan a QR code on your mac to sync them together. You can then do some basic tracking / training with a widget on your Mac. IOS integration supports the Health app for “mindful minutes”. Use: First, for training, you will start with 6-7 minutes a session but can work your way up higher and higher as you go. All it really does in this mode is show a little graphic of your posture and you want to keep it above the red dot, if you go below the red dot for a few seconds you get a buzz. This was most helpful when using the computer (typing this review) as it helps me to reinforce good sitting habits. Outside of sitting, I didn’t use this mode any other time as it did not seem practical for daily use. Second, there is tracking mode. This is essentially your “activity tracker” mode. Put the device on your back, set this mode and go about your day! It only tracks posture (would love to have it do steps too) but it is easy to forget about. After a few minutes you will forget it is there so I would check throughout the day to make sure it didn’t fall off. I never had that happen once but I couldn’t help but be concerned since it was so transparent to the user. Comfort: Great! I never felt it was there as it has virtually no weight. The adhesive is never too sticky and causes no discomfort. I did notice that in a t-shirt, it might add a little “hump” to your back which I found ironic as it is meant to help correct posture but appears like you have a small hunch when wearing. If you wear a jacket, hoodie or thicker shirts, no one will ever notice. Battery: I was a little disappointed by the battery life. For training mode, you will get more than enough for the sessions you might be wearing it. For all day tracking, I would expect a daily recharge. I wore it for 10 hours the first day and was at 10% at the end of the day. The next day I wore it for 5:40 hours and it was at 60%. It isn’t bad but just be aware this is not something you might wear every day all day. Plus, charging is micro USB. I would love to see USB-C or wireless charging support. Mac support: The mac widget is nice to look at as it is extremely simple and small. It is very basic with the graphic, a toggle between training and tracking and the ability to click to turn off the device. It is good for a typing session but not much else. The app frequently disconnected and required me to click “connect” to see my status. It never lost its connection from the phone but only on the mac. Summary: Overall, I was pleased with this device as it is unobtrusive, small, comfortable and easy to use. I was disappointed by short battery life, the requirement to buy adhesive down the road (each one is good for 3-10 uses) and micro USB. If the device had wireless charging and a slightly bigger battery, I would give it a perfect score. 4 out of 5.

Pro: -App is easy to use and informative -Works for sitting in an office chair Con: -Can’t tell difference between slouching and leaning -Gets itchy -Adhesive needs to be replaced often (2-3 days) -Doesn’t work well when sitting on soft seating This is basically a tilt sensor that you stick on your back. Certain times it really helps remind me not to slouch, but other times it’s overly too sensitive and get false readings when I’m simply leaning forward slightly or bending down. I increased the time before it’ll start buzzing, but if I’m moving around, it can get really annoying. I find it best to use this when I’m sitting at my desk for long periods of time. Whenever I’m sitting on something soft like my couch or bed, it’ll start going off even though my back is straight, and I’ll usually have to recalibrate or adjust the settings. In a day, I’d probably have to adjust the settings 2-3 times. The sensor itself is not exactly discrete at about 1” x 2”. It’s big enough to show through my shirt. Each adhesive can last 2-3 days, but by then it’s already started to lose its tackiness. For me, after the first use, it’ll start to get itchy after a while and I just have to take it off. 10 is included in the box, and a replacement box of 10 costs $10. I think a strap option might be better. The app is easy to use and informative. Each time you turn on the sensor, you have to calibrate while you’re upright. You then can choose between three trainers, stationary, standard, and active. From there you can adjust the time delay, before it starts to buzz, and the motion range. You can also switch between training (buzz whenever you slouch) and tracking (record your stats) mode. You can check your daily stats which keeps track of how long you were wearing it, and how long you’re able to keep upright through each day. It does a good job keep tracking and keeping you informed of your habits. For me, it does help with my sitting posture, but I don’t think I’ll use it any other time. After using it for a short time, I did start keeping my back straight on my own (for a while at least) so I guess it’s working. Still I probably won’t be using it too much longer because of the itchy adhesives.

I was really excited to try this little gadget out because my poster is pretty terrible at times. I always find myself hunched over, especially at work. I've been using this thing for about two weeks and so far it's helped me keep better posture, or at least become more mindful of it. It's small and compact and comes in a little travel case that makes it easy to stick in your purse, gym bag, backpack, etc. As long as you're slightly flexible, you can put it on yourself. It sticks to the middle top of your back, kind of where your shoulder blades are. It sticks well too and comes with replaceable sticky tape. It seems like the tape goes a long way and from what I looked is very affordable to buy once you run out. The app is a really great experience too. It's intuitive and easy to set up and figure out. You can calibrate the gadget so it adjusts to you specifically and how your posture is. You can also set up your own personal training guide to help you improve in a certain amount of days. There are trainers in the app and videos that you can watch for tips and helpful information. The charge is pretty decent too. I don't wear it all day, so I haven't had to charge it too much, but it charges fast. Overall, I'd highly recommend!
