Great protection for the frequent traveler

I picked up this case the very same day I bought my Surface. At first I was a little hesitant to spend an extra $70 on an accessory that I wasn't sure would be worth the purchase. Two and a half months later, I'm glad I bought it. Pros: I travel frequently, and the case helps to protect the sides and rear of the Surface from bumps, dings, scratches, etc. Using a keyboard cover provides front-side screen protection; therefore, both products fully envelope the surface in a protective cocoon. The T-shaped kickstand clicks out as far as 90 degrees (perfectly perpendicular) from the back end, allowing you to view the Surface from quite a few angles, even portrait-style. An elastic loop on the top right corner holds the optional keyboard cover closed. Though I sometimes wish there were another loop on the left side, the one loop does the job just fine. Finally, the attached pen holder keeps the Surface pen tightly gripped to the case, so there's little to no worry about misplacing it during travel (it would take quite a bit of rummaging and bumping to inadvertently wedge the pen loose). For temporary placement, the pen sticks magnetically to the left side of the case (however, I always use the top pen holder when transporting my Surface; can't be too careful). Cons: The Surface alone isn't the lightest tablet on the market, and this case actually adds a little more weight. This makes hand-holding the entire ensemble for long periods of time a little discomforting. The case also adds to the dimensions of the Surface. If the tablet fit super snug into your carrying case when naked, then you’ll find it challenging to get it to fit with the case on (I got around this by utilizing a carry bag just large enough to fit the cased Surface and a few extra accessories). When installing the case for the first time, I winced as I snapped on the corners, one by one. It fits very snug with not a lot of give (which is probably a good thing, since you know the case isn't going to just randomly pop off). Also, once the case is on, there's no access to the SD card slot on the back of the Surface. You'll have to remove the entire case every time you want to change out cards (and removing the case made me cringe just as much as putting it on). I just bought a large-capacity card so that I didn't have to swap out smaller-capacity cards. Overall: The case bulks up the Surface just a bit, adding weight yet reliable sturdiness. Coupled with the keyboard cover, the Surface is afforded all-around protection from bumps, dings, scratches, etc. The built-in kickstand lets you position the Surface either in landscape or portrait orientation. The pen holder is a VERY welcome feature, as it holds the pen firmly in place during transport. Though it can be a little off-setting to snap on and take off, the case gives you access to all ports EXCEPT for the SD card slot, so take this into consideration if you like to frequently swap out cards. I honestly feel this $70 purchase was a good investment to ensure that I’ll enjoy my Surface for a long time.

When first thinking about buying this case, I really didn't want to cover the back logo and stand. I also wanted to take advantage of the new stand that can be pushed almost flat for a better drawing angle. HOWEVER, after buying and using this product for almost 3 months now, I am in love with this case. I have already dropped my surface pro one time in class. It fell off my desk and landed on the side of the screen. I was so nervous to turn it around and see the damage on my new surface!!! But there was no damage!! I repeat no damage! I immediately thanked myself for buying this case and protecting my asset. The case is not even heavy and still feels slim. An even more great thing is that the stand on the case is wide and ticker than the factory stand, which allows me to use the laptop on my lap with no problem! Over all I am very happy with this case and highly recommend this product ! I would say it may not be for you if you are an artist or designer and want to take advantage of the new factory stand that lets you and the stand almost flat because the stand on the case does not allow you to do that.

Definitely feels like it'll take a fair beating, but it does add quite a bit of bulk/weight. Didn't seem so bad when I just picked up the case alone, but once I had it on my Surface Pro 6, there was a notable difference. For reference, the SP6 with keyboard weighs 2.43 lb. This case adds .86 lb and roughly doubles the thickness compared with the Surface alone. Also, (a nitpick I know) if you like using the keyboard flat on a table, the case hinders that. The thicker base raises the keyboard enough to create a little gap under it, which can be annoying. Overall, though it's not the right fit for me, it's still a good protective case. Just make sure you're ok with the extra size/weight. I didn't want something so bulky, but my only options at BB were this or the UAG Plasma. I'd have gone with the Plasma if it weren't double the price with only a single stand position.

I bought this and threw it on the new Surface Pro (the "5", though MS won't brand it that) that I purchased last week. The case is great, but for my use it has one critical flaw in that it overheats the Surface when using Lightroom or Photoshop. I mean, overheats to the point my Surface slowed to a crawl and then locked up twice. Didn't have any problem with just web surfing and non-graphic-intensive work. I didn't even mind the added weight, because the protection is superb. I'm not expert on this by any means, but it seems that if the back (or sides where the vents are) were more open that this might not be an issue. Unfortunately, if you're using LR or PS with your Surface, this is a big issue. Otherwise, get the case as it's great.

I picked up the case today and immediately installed in on my Surface. First thing I noticed is the kickstand would not stay in place when not used. Seems the stand is a little bent so both magnets weren't touching. I tried to flex it a little and that helped but not perfect. Then the kickstand is supposed to have 5 points of stand possibilities, most seem to weak to hold the tablet with any sort of pressure on the screen (such as stylus use). Could I have just gotten a lemon? Then one last thing..no documentation about warranty or support in the box. No phone number to call for support. May be returning for a replacement, just to see if I got a bad one. Too bad I have to drive back to BB. Another hour round trip.

Case is very easy to put on, took a few seconds. Shell seems to be very sturdy however the stand on the back seems a little less sturdy. It’s been on for about 2 weeks now and all of it seems to be holding up well but time will tell if the stand will hold up. It just feels a little more flimsy than the rest of the case but I haven’t had any issues thus far. It does have multiple positions to change the angle at which you view the screen but it took me a week to figure that out! It’s very subtle how you change it. There’s good access to all the ports and it’s super grippy to help prevent dropping it. All in all it’s a good case. I will buy it again if the need arises.

Heavy but Durable and Great Protection

The case is heavy and durable and was the only one that was "shock proof" as stated per manufacturer labels. I have not dropped it yet so I can not attest to it, however I feel much safer with my Microsoft Pro 2017 being encased in it. It gives the laptop about another 2 pounds added to it. I cannot fold my surface pro keyboard back with the case on, however I can just easily take off the keyboard to compensate for the protection. It is a bit bulky and with my Zagg Sreen Protector it kind of makes the protector come off, yet it may be because the edges are bulky OR the screen protector is too large. Overall I am happy, but it does get a bit dirty.

I wish I could give this 5 stars. It's built study, and seems like in a normal day to day use it would be fine. We however aren't the normal day to day user. This protects my 16 year old daughter's Surface. She should be a rugged product tester since she can find a way to destroy many items. So far we've been through 2 of these. The weak point seems to be the springs in the hinged back... as both cases broke the same way. My daughter is the kind of teen who LifeProof is in business for. I wish they made a case.

I'm very familiar with Urban Armor Gear products. I've had their cases on my phones going back to the Samsung Galaxy S3. This case for the Surface is no exception. It fits perfectly, and has a spot for the Surface pen, and if so desired, the pen can still attach magnetically through the case on the side. It does not interfere in any way with the keyboard cover either. The only real gripe I have actually is that the stand does not work anywhere near as good as the Surface stand. It's adjustable in many levels as sort of a "ratcheting" system, but it doesn't hold great. It's not a deal breaker, but it'd be nice if it was something that could be worked out.

I had other cases for my Surface Pro, but, I had to return them because even though the cases had a slit for a USB drive, the slit was to "thick" and so I could never get a good connection between the USB and my computer, hence, in order to use the USB drive, I had to continually remove the case. So I searched and found this case, where the USB slit is well designed so I could successfully use my USB drive with removing the case. A best buy store employee helped me to find this and he was excellent. If it weren't for him, I wouldn't have found it. Thank you Best Buy!! PS: the integrated kickstand is great and it comes with a surface pen holder.

I loved the feel of this case. I have a UAG case on my phone and had one my last phone so I thought I would love this. The material is grippy and the stand is really sturdy but the case combined with the metal stand made my Surface Pro 4 really heavy, the stand really dug into my legs when using on my lap due the extra weight. However, it did seem to protect the device really well. The keyboard retention elastic strap broke after using it about 3 times. This combined with the lack of comfort with lap use prompted me to return the case. I had a hard time removing the case, was really afraid I was going to damage my Surface trying to get off.

I loved this case when I first got it. My surface pro 4 felt protected. It was easier to put on then take off. If you play a lot of games on your surface like I do, I would say to get some thing different. The case has vents but my computer kept getting hot and acting weird so I returned it and got a notebook type of case instead. It was really hard to take off, I spent a good 20 minutes trying to remove it because I was afraid to break the screen. Aside from that if you will be using the surface for basic task like browsing the internet, watching videos or using Microsoft applications this case is perfect.

I've used this case for over a year now with my Surface Pro 3. Recently upgraded to the 4 and didn't think twice about picking up the 4 version of this case. It does in fact meet mil standards, fits the surface somewhat snugly on the first installation but stretches out enough to make installation easier after a few days. It is not effected by screen protectors but due to the overlap on the front (it doesn't interfere with the screen itself), you need to ensure you install the screen protector first. The stand is plenty durable and the multiple positions are quite handy. It also makes for a very handy hand hold when you are laying in bed.

We recently deployed Microsoft Surface Pro tablets within our organization to our most mobile of users. Considering the cost of the tablets and how susceptible they are to damage from drops protecting our investment in the tablets was paramount. We tested a couple of different cases on the market, including the Otterbox options, and the Urban Armour Gear case was hands down the best option for protection, price, and appearance. Highly recommend this to anyone looking to purchase a Surface Pro.

Urban armor is the best of its class. Offering a variety of cases for different types of products. The case is very durable with shock proof rubber around the sides. You can also take the keyboard on and off with the case on making it very versatile. Fits snug and not too bulky. The kickstand is also sturdy and adjust to as many positions as the surface pro’s built in kick stand which makes it great. I wanted the blue one but found out after digging around it wasn’t offered anywhere anymore. But the black and silver looks very nice. Over all two thumbs up!!

I purchased two of these cases since I travel via car, plane, train and other modes of transportation. My Surface is always with me. Sometimes my wife will come along on my business trips (some last several months) so she has a Urban Armor Gear case too. While I work she's on the beach or traveling around town usually with her Surface typing emails and keeping track on what's happening at home, It's essential we don't damage our Surfaces. A hughe benefit is the pen holder that will secure the Surface Pen. With other cases I usually missed placed the pen. Works great! Highly recommend this case!!!

I was looking at the Otterbox Symmetry Case but did not like the soft link on the back to allow for use of the kickstand on the Surface Pro 4. I went with the UAG case for the Surface Pro 4 pen holder and for it having its own kickstand. The keyboard covers the scene with 360 protection of your equipment. All data ports are accessible with this case. I have not tried a scene protector yet so I can not offer any opinion on that yet. Overall, you wont feel let down with this case. I have always purchased Otterbox but this time I had to go with function and an overall better looking case.

I bought this case along with the Zagg screen protector. I had best buy mobile install the screen protector after reading reviews of people losing screen sensitivity. After I put the case on myself. It was a no easy to get on! The rubber is thick and stiff. Instantly the edges of the screen protector start popping up. There is a place at the top for the pen. As soon as I put the pen in there a huge bubble formed under the screen protector. When I removed the pen it went away. I returned the case and purchased a folio case off amazon. No problems since.

I loved the concept and design of the case and was set on having my Surface live in it until I started watching reviews and unboxing videos. The kickstand is atrocious, loud, difficult to use, and limited in positions. The case is tight enough to potentially damage the screen and warped a tempered glass screen protector. Without a screen protector, (or a thinner or smaller one), and if you don't plan on using the kickstand in a noise sensitive environment or on your lap, it's definitely solid protection. For me I couldn't sacrifice the sleek form factor and amazing built in kickstand.

It is very protective and well designed for freely accessing the ports without having to take it off the device. The metal kickstand is a nice bonus but gets light scratches fairly easily and can scratch a surface it is used on if the user is not careful. The case also fits very snuggly on a surface pro 4 so that the task of placing the case on the device yourself, without causing damage can be a bit nerve racking. After applied however, does its job of protecting the device well and is perfectly compatible with device's keyboard cover.
