Great for an all-in-one computer

This is something of a "niche" product, but it fit my needs very well.
My all in one computer's ports are all very poorly placed. Plugging in flash drives requires reaching around and blindly stabbing at the back of the machine.
I got this to add a little height to my machine, and to add some more accessible ports to the front of the machine.
It serves this purpose very well.
The stand appears to be well constructed. I'm not sure if it's truly metal (feels too warm to be aluminum), but it seems quite sturdy. The height is perfect for my needs. It has four rubber feet to ensure a stable grip and to prevent it from scratching one's desk. The base is "just" deep enough to fit my all in one's stand. The cable length is adequate for plugging into a monitor or all in one, but it's far too short to plug into a tower on the floor. And finally, the port selection is great for my needs.
I no longer have to reach around just to plug in a flash drive or SD card, and I don't have extraneous cables or dongles hanging off my machine.
I would recommend this for anyone looking to add some more accessible ports to a monitor or all in one computer.

I have mixed feelings about this, as a monitor stand it was absolutely perfect to bring the monitor exactly where I wanted to get the slight downward tilt of my neck that caused it to get soar to go away. As a hub, I’m not as convinced. For me I needed to plug in the USB cable included, my USB c charger, and my USB c HDMI converter; the problem being that I only have two USB c ports. The picture shows putting the laptop under the stand and being good to go, in reality you need at least two cords to make this work properly at which point there is a good chance you have all of these ports on the hub that you’re using anyway. Overall, I feel this really needs an HDMI port at the minimum and pass-through charging to make it really make sense.
It does feel high quality and it works perfectly, and if all you need is a USB C hub without HDMI or charging this is a great solution.
Pros:
High Quality
Raises the monitor to the perfect height
Perfect cubby to put the laptop
Cons:
No HDMI
No through charging

If you like using using your laptop in a docked mode while at home the Satechi Monitor Stand Hub XL big help.
First you get a nice little cubby to stash your laptop away and a stand to place your montior. I use my XPS13 with the stand and have connected to a 27" monitor. As much power as some laptops have it's all you need for desktop and mobile work.
There are plenty of ports to satisfy the average use and I didn't have any problems with my External HDD, SSD, or thumbdrives. The only issue I could see is that if you only have one USB C port that's also shared as the charging port for your laptop. There's not PD support for the dock so you'll be limited by your laptop's battery life to continue work or play.
As a stand the aluminum is sturdy enough where I'm not worried the Satechi not supporting the weight. It's been hold fine so far and I'm sure it'll be fine years from now.
In addition to being a monitor stand, it's also a nice laptop stand for the 13" or smaller models. My XPS fits perfectly on the stand and will be going with me today as I spend father's day with my parents.
Great quality with all the ports I currently need for docking or on the go.

Much better than I thought it was going to be.

The stand was much better than I thought it was going to be. I used it on my all in one hp desktop and it works like a champ. I was afraid that the weight might cause some bowing however the stand portion is very solid, much more than I anticipated. Also it work really well with my low profile laptop. If you have a larger laptop I would check the dimensions first as I’m pretty sure and to large won’t fit.
The only real problem was making sure the USB-C had sufficient power to drive all of the port. The only way to tell is a small les that is barely visible. You don’t even notice it until you look for it. The first time I hooked it up the led would just blink and not connect. Once I move it to and part of the usb bus it work as designed.
I’ve used all the input with the exception of the SS card ready as I don’t use thos. That’s being said I would except it to work just like just everything else overall this is a great product and I would highly recommend it if your in the market

a hub and monitor stand that underwhelms...

This monitor stand looks pretty and fits the part on an Apple desktop, but does not have the video or power passthrough really target Apple devices except as an additional hub for Apple laptops or Macs that maybe need a few extra very standard ports. I was excited to get to review this item but found it would only work with newer PC devices and then again only to add very basic ports. I would say if you have a newer laptop and it has maybe two USB-C ports, then you can use one for power and one for this hub for extra ports. Another option would be to use an external hub with power passthrough in addition to this hub to allow you to use the extra ports and possibly use an external monitor. I can't make up my mind if this was designed by an Apple user to appeal to PC users in addition to or a PC user that was trapped in a team of Apple engineers. None of this is to say one team or product is better than the other but few users cross over into both realms. The ports as designed only support low power requirements or drives with their own power supplies. The SD card slot is a nice feature and some will be confused because the micro-sd slot is upside down. The size is also pretty small so not sure I would label it XL except it has multiple functions in theory. I think maybe it is perfect if someone wanted an external hub for more ports for a smaller Apple laptop but did not actually want to use it for a real monitor.
