Stumbled upon this side scrolling, platforming shooter purely by accident. It’s a gooey, psychedelic, rock n roll version of Contra. Perfect controls mixed with fun gameplay and some truly bizarre weapons, locales, and enemies. Highly recommended.

Great animation and pixel art, a bunch of weapons to find, and an awesome metal soundtrack. It's very similar to the game Slain but not quite as punishing, so if you liked that you'll probably enjoy this as well.

I love this game! Then again I started gaming in the early 80's and received an NES for my 10th birthday in 1985. That was my first console but certainly wouldn't be my last as I've owned pretty much every video game system to be released since the NES. While I do appreciate the graphical immersion of games like Resident Evil 2 and Final Fantasy 7 Remake, there's always been a soft spot for games I played in the 16-bit era. The Castlevanias, Metroids, Golden Axes and Streets of Rages were so beautifully drawn and animated. In many ways, because they didn't spoon-feed the experience like games do nowadays, they inspired and ignited the imagination more so. Well thank God for studios that still put out titles like Valfaris! This game is a delight to behold! Visually it's mind blowing. No joke. I've had friends sit down just to watch me play this. The soundtrack is unbelievably good and most importantly IT'S FUN TO PLAY! Difficult yes! Some bosses will require numerous attempts that compete with the likes of Dark Souls. But never was I frustrated. Rather I felt challenged to actually learn and adapt my play style to exploit patterns and different approaches. For that reason, and because there's a bevy of weapon choices to utilize and upgrade, everyone's experience may be a bit different. If you long for the days of the Sega Genesis, Super Nintendo, Turbografx-16 or even the NeoGeo, pick up this game! You'll love it!!

This is a run and gun game with old school visuals, but new school design and fun! If you love pixel art games and just want to blast away at aliens and whatnot, then definitely get this game!

It's a fun, old school 2D action game with some great pixel art and a cool metal soundtrack. Valfaris can be difficult in areas but nothing too bad. You will die. A lot. Enemy patterns are pretty easy to figure out though.

This game is unforgiving. That much is true. That being said, it is a good challenge, and the visuals are impressive if you can deal with the difficulty.
