I will have to try out this with some essential oils but using plain distilled (must use only distilled water) works fine. I was afraid of splashing/sputtering drops of hot water like my old steamer but i haven’t faced this issue so far. Great purchase especial when on sale.

It stars producing steam shortly after you fill out the tank with distile water and the water tank holds enough water to "treat" your hold face. The unit is compact hence easy to store, yet it is cute if you want to leave it on your vanity. The materials it's made off look high quality.

I don’t use it all the time, but when I do use it, it definitely helps with opening my pores, and it also helps with sinus drainage and sinus clearing.
