XG 2702 Obituary
Born/Purchased August 2018... great monitor... loved everything about it... great picture, fast, reliable, easily adjustable stand... everything I wanted in a monitor... zero complaints... PERFECT... 5-Stars
Died October 2020... terrible... untimely death... was watching a YouTube video... and screen just went white... no warning... just went white... tried everything to get it back to life... thought it was computer or video card at first... but I have multiple computers and multiple monitors in the house... put a different monitor on my computer, worked just fine... not my computer... unplugged monitor from computer, plugged it into wall only... usually would get the black screen with "no input detected" message... nope... white screen... attached XG2702 to a different computer... white screen... white screen is all I got from the moment I turned it on after it decided to die... I guess that means it went to Heaven... all attempts to resurrect monitor failed... services held for untimely death of my XG2702... it was only 2 years old (warranty is 1-year, FYI). 1-Star.
5-stars while alive, 1-star for fast death... I'm going to average out my stars to 3... because it was great for 2 years, but died too young... I've never had a monitor die in so short a time... darn shame.

I'm a casual gamer and was hoping that the speakers in this panel wouldn't make we want to tear my ears out. They did. Very tinny.

Amazing Monitor

The monitor is amazing, this is the first monitor in my 20+ years of computing that worked right out of the box without the need to adjust any settings - brightness, contrast, color etc, and this is with the ColorX preset, later when I started playing with the settings it can be customized even better. The only thing I had to do after unboxing and connecting the cables was to change the refresh rate from 60 to 144Hz and that's it. I already had a great gaming monitor the Asus VG248QE and no other monitor could come close to it as performance and picture quality, I was very happy with it for the 2 years I used it, I just wanted to upgrade the size, the bigger model Asus VG278Q though starts at $300 and the ViewSonic XG was on sale for $260 so I wanted to try it and I'm happy I did :) The picture quality is as good as Asus offers, but the build quality is better, solid, heavy and sturdy, the stand is great and has four USB 3.0 ports, comes with only DisplayPort cable which is the best for 144Hz use, but has HDMI too and these cables are cheap if needed. Before that I tested different models from Samsung, Dell and Acer and they all failed to beat my 24"Asus or this 27" VeiwSonic XG including the Samsung 144Hz QLED model with VA panel which is not even close to what I have seen on the QLED TV's. So if you want a great Full HD gaming monitor I can highly recommend this one, it's not only good for gaming but also for movies and daily use too. It can't beat my 65" Hisense H9E TV in picture quality but that TV is a lot more expensive and has IPS panel, but speed and refresh are a lot faster. Shadow of the Tomb Raider looks beautiful on this monitor.
I could have gotten QHD or a 4K monitor but then I would have to upgrade to a more expensive graphics card at least $500 for GeForce RTX 2070, and some older games don't support QHD or 4K, so I wanted to have just regular Full HD monitor, my GeForce GTX 1070 can easily push 70-80FPS on any game at high settings.

This gaming monitor is just about perfect for all day use from working to playing games. I noticed better performance in fps due to the fast response time and image quality on the panel is amazing. Jumping from a 60hz 24" monitor to a 144hz 27" monitor was one of the best decisions I made all year. I'd recommend this monitor to anyone looking to upgrading their gaming set up or just want a monitor with a hardcore devilish design.
My only complaint about this monitor is that it's not a 4k, but I'll settle for 1080p since most things are in 1080p res anyway.
