The card was easy to install and gives me more flexibility with additional USB ports. I have two USB 3 devices and now I don't have to unplug one to use the other device. I just wish more devices used USB 3 because it is faster. If you have Win 8 you don't need to install any driver for the card, the system will automatically find the driver.

    Great 4-port USB3.0 PCIE Card

I used this card to add 4 USB3.0 ports to my older XP SP3 machine. The hardware is very good for the price. Everything I've tried, including external disk drives, works well and has very acceptable USB3 speed with this card. The drivers on the supplied disk were a bit dated, but current drivers are easy to find on the internet. The supplied drivers work well enough, but I did have some problems with external hard drives waking properly from S3 sleep mode and hibernation, updating to more recent drivers for 'VIA USB eXtensible Host Controller' (specifically version 6.1.7600.4301 dated 9/25/2013) solved that problem completely, the supplied drivers and the updated drivers I found are neither digitally signed, but neither has produced any hint of instability on my XP machine. VIA is the only chipset I'd consider for USB3.0, and it does not disappoint, transfer rates are very good even when writing to two or more external drives simultaneously.

Very much needed to add USB3.0 to my old computer. Probably could've gone with a two ports, but I'm glad I did it. USB2 was taking too long to transfer all my pictures. This is a whole lot quicker.

An older card that still requires a spare power connector, but the software is included and installation a breeze and now I have USB3! Not bad at all and fairly cheap. Software a breeze!

USB-3 expansion card installed easily. Came with the 4-pin molex to SATA power connector, so as long as you have an extra SATA power plug in your system, you don't need any other connectors. Plug and play. All four ports are working. Highly recommended!

Easy way to add USB 3.0 ports to a computer

This is a cost effective way to upgrade a computer to have USB 3.0 ports. The card comes with a SATA to molex pigtail. Unfortunately my computer P/S does not have molex power connectors nor enough SATA power connections so I had to buy a pigtail with multiple SATA connections to be able to connect the card to the P/S. Not the fault of the card.

This product works great! I no longer get the odd message about a device needing more power than what the usb can provide (a usb 2 terabyte backup drive)... And... I now have 4 usb3s, 2 more that in my original card that burned out. The card I discarded did not have a separate power cord connector, this one does. I am very satisfied with the Visiontek USB 3.0 4-Port PCIe Expansion Card.

My mobo (Asus) has a two USB-3 header. The one routed to my front panels are fine. The rear ones, surprisingly, were glitchy. I ran my external HD's into them. They irregularly disconnected on their own. This Visiontek card stays on and on. Awesome.

I purchased 4 units installed 2 of them in a new out of the box Windows 10 6th generation i7. Each unit is supposed to plug and play, however comes with an optional power cord and mini installation disc. The slots where the cards plug in take the cards however there is nowhere to plug in the power cord. After speaking with Dell support I was told that the cards should function without the optional power cord. So in my attempt to get the 2 installed cards to work in the PC the PC would not recognize any USB peripherals. Dell support even upgraded the PC with the latest drivers. No go... I am returning the remaining 2 unopened cards
