Purchased for a Trip to Iceland

I’m having a lot of fun learning how to use this 360 degree camera before taking it on my trip to Iceland next week. I purchased it because I thought it would provide unique 360 degree action photos and videos while whale watching and touring volcanos, glaciers and hot springs during my 8 day adventure.
In order to use the camera, you’ll first need to install a micro SD card. This camera only has 200 MB of internal storage – but we bought a micro SD card which should allow me an additional 256 GB…more than plenty for what I’ll use on my trip. The camera also needs to be charged prior to use with the USB cable that comes with camera – a charge lasts for hours of video.
Also included – which I think is useful and handy – is a remote control wristband which allows the action cam to be controlled remotely when using one of the attachments included with camera: a tripod, a bike mount, and universal mount.
I’m looking forward to using the wi-fi function to share the videos of my trip daily on my social media and with my family and friends!! If your preference is still photography, there is a great capture feature for 12.1 MP photos – it provides pics that are crisp and clear.
I’m looking forward to coming back and really experimenting with the app that’s included with this camera – there are so many features I need to learn about and try!

Really Cool Camera

This camera is one of the coolest camera's that I have ever bought, although I am still learning how to use it. I actually purchased this one on Amazon but wanted to share my thoughts and experience here. By looking at the camera itself, you wouldn't think it could see all the around in a 360 degree circumference, but it does. We are still messing with the functions to make it clearer, as well as learning to use the app it comes with. The app gives several types of viewing effects to use within the app itself but we believe it cannot be saved that way for social media viewing. If it is able to, we haven't figured it out yet being my Husband and I are still learning to use it. When we uploaded to youtube, inside the youtube app, I was able to screen record the video my Husband took and it was easy to view just by tilting my phone. You can see it in the recording I uploaded.

First review on Best Buy here; came to be a sane voice in the land of 5-star reviews for a truly poor product.
Purchased this small inexpensive 360 camera to see what this new technology was like. The Vivitar product, from the packaging, to the components, to the plastic and buttons used, is truly 3rd rate quality. The camera firmware lacks any forethought of user experience. I suffered for about 3hrs with this camera before packaging it back up to return to the store.
In hindsight, it sounds ludicrous to expect a product that costs 1/3 that of it's competitors to function whatsoever. However, the glowing reviews on the Best Buy site and the kudos from the sales associate I worked with changed my mind. I regret not sticking with my initial evaluation to skip this product.
It took half a day to charge the camera before I was able to power it on. I was able to pair my phone (iPhone X) with it quickly at first. I experimented around the house with the iPhone app and camera; took 2 10sec videos and 2 stills, to see how they turned out on the phone. The app has no instructions, non-intuitive icons, and icons that have unknown functions. There's no help anywhere in the instructions or on the web.
The photos are grainy and poor resolution; reminiscent of an older smart phone camera. It claims to be 4k res, but the fine print says 4k at 15fps. Perhaps quality improves if you use their computer-based app, but I never got around to installing it.
The camera captured images at an unintended time (as I was reaching for it, inexplicably). As I attempted to pair with the camera again via WiFi, it would not pair. I tried restarting the phone, restarting the camera, flashing the camera to factory defaults, and a number of other combinations of holding down buttons for different amounts of time (as button-pushing is time dependent, based on the slim set of instructions provided).
I have gone down the path of buying cheap electronics in the past, and rarely been pleased with the decision. This is a shining example. I actually wonder if the Best Buy review site hasn't been blasted by some ratings service hired by Vivitar. These reviews can't possibly be real. This camera isn't worth the powder to blow it up.
As a side note, when I returned the camera to a different Best Buy store, I spoke with a sales associate about the product. The moment I mentioned Vivitar, she began apologizing profusely about this camera Apparently she has sold some of these around the holidays or something and had a bunch of angry customers.
I returned the camera and bought a Ricoh Theta V. That seems to be much more well tested and has a lot more information about it on the internet.
PS- if you look at the attached photo, that big black stain on the floor is actually not a stain on the floor. The camera puts that in all your photos.

It's an OK product. Cool thing is you don't need to stitch for the videos to be 360. Bad thing is, the quality isn't too good. Especially the 4K mode. It just really didnt look good

It's a nice start if you want a 360 camera! While there are obviously better ones out there; for its price, you'll get a good camera for its default resolution! 30 FPS at "960p," 25(?) at 2K and 15 FPS at 4K.
When it comes time, I'll buy another one as a dashcam! There go an idea!

Save your money and get the Gopro 360 Fusion

I bought this since after using my Bestbuy reward points, it was practically free. This company makes horrible software to drive the end user experience and when I later bought the Gopro Fusion I truly recognized how this was a worthless purchase. The software feels very rushed to try and provide minimum functionality to get it out the door. Save your money.
