I bought it on sale (279), and let's be honest... I hooked up an Apple TV to this for streaming Netflix and Amazon Prime, but that's just because I don't want to always use my phone or tablet to stream. Despite me not using the built in chromecast all that much, that portion works quite nicely too. Easy set-up, and although some people don't like the remote... READ BEFORE YOU BUY!
I find it to be an amazing picture for the price, and the remote does all I need it to do. With a quick download of the related app, all the picture controls, etc. are easily at your fingertips, and if you set it up right once, you'll not find the need to use those features very often. It was easy to set up local channels with a regular antenna, easy to learn how to "cast", and with this price point for a 120hz refresh rate (TRUE refresh rate, not the misleading "Motion 240"), this little gem can't be beat!

I bought this TV for the screen size as well as the fact it was open box, and when I first used it, was pleasantly surprised how great it worked! However, after about 2-3 weeks using it, things became a bit finicky. I'm an Android user, so I'm not sure if it's related to that, but I downloaded the Smartcast at the beginning of use and LOVED it, and then all the sudden after downloading Netflix app to my phone, it didn't like my phone any longer. I now need to use my Asus laptop to watch shows and actually "cast" them to the TV. The option to "cast" no longer comes up on my Smartcast app on my cell phone. I'm not sure if the issue lies with Android, Vizio, Netflix, or Smartcast, but maybe if you're an Android user you want to avoid this purchase unless you too have an Asus and don't mind casting from it! Backdrop pictures on screensaver are REALLY pretty I must say... I had a Roku device before with another TV and Apple iPhone, and that worked much longer and better with a Roku stick than this TV and my Android. I would still recommend this product for the quality of screen, but be prepared to uninstall/reinstall or else use a laptop like I did.

If you're always near your phone this tv might be for you. Chromecast is different than your traditional smart tvs in that you need a phone or tablet to cast your content onto your tv. I have this in a bedroom and my phone is usually charging by me so casting is quick and easy. Lost a star due to the difficulty of the initial setup. Took a few tries to get the tv connected to the wifi but once that was done it has worked fine. I could see it causing frustration for some. Otherwise using the casting feature is quick as long as you set the tvs quick start feature to be on. The other star was lost due to the lack of features on the remote. All advanced features have to be done through an app and while that works fine, I think having that ability on a remote would help remove some of the initial setup frustrations. Otherwise the tv works well and once it was connected there were no issues.

Thanks for your purchase and feedback. We recently made changes to the product setup experience in order to make it easier and more intuitive. VIZIO SmartCast™ products are controlled using an application instead of a traditional remote. This means that any VIZIO SmartCast™ device can be controlled using most smartphones and tablets. I bought the TV because I'm a loyal VIZIO consumer. I have a number of other (older) sets and been happy with the quality of the picture and sound of the TVs. This is the second VIZIO TV I bought in the past 6 months both of which come with the VERY BASIC remote. I have read all of the negative reviews related to the remote and the smartphone/tablet app that drives the settings and if you're the least bit tech savvy, this really isn't a problem. The app is as interactive as any I've used for other things and the TV picture (120 refresh rate/240 motion) is great. Frankly, I use the cable remote 99% of the time anyway and it never really turns into an issue.
If you're not slightly tech savvy or don't have a smartphone or tablet this may not be the TV for you, but for the cost savings you can realize by buying this set with all of the other functions, it pays to get one.

This is our first flat screen TV (yes, we're behind the times). Overall, I'm pleased with it. I like the picture quality and sound. We have had trouble with our DVD player since hooking it up to this TV, and we never had any issues with it on our old TV. It will show 'no signal' even when the DVD player is on. I can usually turn the DVD player off and back on and it resets and works. Also, we have some old school Nintendo 64 games we played on our old TV and we haven't figured out how to make it work on this new TV yet. One last thing to note, the remote that comes with it doesn't work the Vizio Smartcast. You have to have the Smartcast app on your phone/other device and use Smartcast from there. It'd be much better if the TV remote could control that. So, a few little annoyances but overall a great TV.

This is such a great tv. The price is simply unbeatable for the quality picture that this provides. Setup is definitely for a more tech savvy person. I know what you are thinking, "wait you need to have some tech knowledge to set up a tv?" Yes, this is the only downfall of the TV. But the picture is amazing and the Chromecast is simply easy and great. I went for this model and not the 4k model bc at the viewing distance that i would use it for, would have no benefit to have a 4k tv. Remember if you are interested in a 4k version, just google a 4k viewing distance chart to se if it is worth the extra bucks to upgrade to 4k! I also have a 4k 70 inch vizio tv as well. I highly recommend this tv if you want a smart tv at a great price

My first flat screen tv of 8 years was a Vizio, so I decided to stick with the brand given it's quality. Love the slim profile and how the legs were moved closer to the sides. Good for storing items under tv. Display is vibrant and gives a more immersive feel, huge step up from my previous tv. Only gripe is the remote provided has no menu button to fine tune display settings. However Vizio gave an alternative with their smartcast app for android and apple phones/tablets. Otherwise I am happy with this purchase.

I purchased this as an open box item, and I can understand why it may have been returned--the app is terrible. I can't remember how many times it took installing and un-installing the app before it would work. Otherwise, the picture and sound are good. Casting shows works fine too, but I'm still going to add a roku so I can get amazon prime.

Honestly pictures fine for 1080HD TV, I wasn't expecting the best picture for the $300 price tag but I was pleasantly surprised by the picture that it does put out, though I will warn buyers if you do not have the Internet this TV has very little function it is purely a display and has NO built-in tuner please be aware of this when you're making your purchase one thing that I was not told was that there is NO universal remote and no advanced remote function without the smart app which will not work without the Internet, which I do not have at the moment, so I can not operate the advanced controls for the TV like contrast sharpness dark levels or sound:/ Good thing I have an audio system:)

Great Dorm TV

Bought this for my dorm while I was going to school. I ended up having to return the first one and swap it for a second because of a cracked screen. Best Buy as always had great customer service and hooked me right up with the same model. The built in chrome cast is great for doing things from your phone such as watching videos, or listening to music. A bit strange getting used to having my phone as a remote control for the TV, but after a while it was second nature.

Picked the TV up for the bedroom and was well aware that this TV is a casting TV without tuner. Not a big deal as we get out TV from the Internet and DirecTV.
Installed it and downloaded the app for my iPhone and setup was fine. Got it up and running and was blown away by the quality. The picture is superb and has depth and clarity that is top notch.
Casting is So-So. Chromecast/Googlecast is really not that great of an experience as you need to manage 2 devices or apps to, say watch Netflix. You have your device for Netflix and then either the Vizio app or the remote to manage the volume and other functions. It works OK but is a kludge at best. That's not a knock on Vizio but the same thing is the reason I shelved the Chromecast I bought. It's a rather poor way to watch something and has you juggling 2 devices or switching back and forth between multiple apps on your smartphone. For the bedroom it's OK and if you are really into online content, an AppleTV, Roku, or Fire device would be better than Googlecast. Shame they didn't go with something like "real Android" in the TV and let you use the regular apps from a full featured dedicated remote.
All in all it's a great TV - superb picture quality and for me that's all that matters.

This is a great TV for the size and money. It has a great picture and was simple to set-up. Only thing it lacks is good sound, but that's the case with almost all tv's these days. I just got a Vizio soundbar to improve and bring the sound quality up to that of the picture.

The TV has great picture and sound, however, for being a smart TV the set up is dumb. The remote is very basic and the functions it performs are basic. In order to stream through it you have to stream first through your phone to the TV eating up phone battery life.

Pros: Excellent screen quality, 120hz refresh rate. I use this in the living room hooked up to an Xbox One - this TV makes games and streaming video look SWEET. Smooth action, great colors, and deep dark blacks.
SmartCast phone app works as it should (I'm using a Blu android phone) , and is easy to hook up, just follow the directions on screen, very intuitive. The app has more in depth controls for color, sound and other options, even turning the power light on and off.
Cons: The only major complaint I have (not worth docking a star though) is that the remote that comes with this TV is very small and thin. It has only the most basic controls, but works well. It's small size means that it can easily be lost in couch cushions, however. Lets just say its a bit harder to keep track of.
Also, the sound isn't too bad, sounds a bit hollow, but hey, they're TV speakers. Got it hooked up to a soundbar anyways,

For what you pay it's a good tv. However Vizio really shouldn't call it a tv bc you can't really do anything but stream video and what DVDs. The build-in tuner is limited and you can't really change channels very easily.
Vizio needs to get away from this streaming only idea and back to what makes a tv a tv. Over-the-air free broadcast network viewing.
I recommend this if you want a streaming tv otherwise don't waste your money. Samsung has similar ones that have better features and an actual tuner with a good remote.

Thanks for your purchase and feedback. This model does have a built in tuner which would allow the connection of an antenna to receive over-the-air signals. There are also multiple input connections that can be used for connecting devices, such as cable/satellite boxes, DVD players and many other devices. VIZIO SmartCast™ products are controlled using an application instead of a traditional remote. This means that any VIZIO SmartCast™ device can be controlled using most smartphones and tablets. With SmartCast™ built in, you now have access to hundreds of apps. If you have any questions or concerns, we encourage you to reach out to our Support team at 844.254.8088. -Randal

Good display for small "home theater" setup

This Vizio has a very good display for the money. So as part of a small "home theater" type set up it is pretty much plug and play and it would be fine. As a "TV" it has one big weak point. While it does have plenty of inputs, Chromecast is rubbish as it often gets a "something went wrong" message if you try and use apps like Netflix (thanks for the detailed error message). Oh it plays for about 15 seconds and then crashes (and yes wireless is less than 15 feet away). So you'll need a streaming box to reliably get Netflix and such. Using a cell phone app for control is a PITA and unreliable. There is no documentation provided other than basic setup (you have to go online for that). I would recommend this to a friend IF they were not going to rely on Chromecast.

We bought this TV to go in our bedroom and have been overjoyed with the value for dollar. We can use our phones to control it so we never have to find the remote and the streaming options are great. The picture quality is great for the size and price, and individual zone backlighting is very uncommon for this size and price. Although thick because of the backlights, it is light to move and overall a great TV.
