This is a less expensive version of the Vizio M50-C1. While slightly newer than the M50-C1, the Vizio D50U-D1 features seems to be the exactly the same as the M50-C1 but there is one glaring difference that you do not see in the specs - LED zones. The M50-C1 has 32 vs only 12 in the D50U-D1 being reviewed here. So what does that mean? Both of these TV's have full array local dimming. That is the ability to dim the area of the screen that needs it, while keeping the bright parts of the screen bright. Something needs to control that so manufactures divide the screen into zones to control the corresponding LED's. The more zones there are, the better control there is over the picture quality (at least in terms of the dynamic contrast ratio.) That is where the difference is between the D50U-D1 and the M50-C1. The D50U-D1 just does not measure up, it's dynamic contrast ratio is 5 million to 1 while the Vizio M50-C1 is 20 million to 1. The greater contrast, the greater number of colors it can display. That is a definitive and noticeable difference in picture quality. When you look at the typical $30 price difference between the D50U-Di and the M50-C1, go for the M50-C1.

Excellent picture, easy to use and set up. After looking at a dozen other places and I can't even say how many different TVs, finally settled on this one and I cannot think of a single bad thing to say about it.

This is the best TV yet. The clarity of the picture is beautiful! I love the Netflix button on the remote, great idea! Got it at a really good price so makes the purchase all the sweeter. 4k is awesome!

Checked out many tvs but this one had it all. It is also set for the future with 4K tv. Picture is fantastic for sports and regular shows. On travel shows it makes you feel like you are there.

Already had a 42" Vizio, but it was not a smart TV. Love everything about it. With a sound bar/home theater system, it is extremely satisfying at a distance of eight feet. Also love the apps.

Just under a month since purchase and could not be happier. I think the picture quality got even better after a few days and some channels are as impressive as the display in the store. Easy to set up and has some cool quick adjust modes. The Smart part is working well also.

Good TV for the price. Clear picture and good resolution. It has all the qualities I was looking for and I am very satisfied with my purchase.

I bought the last year 50" model Vizio six months ago. This one cost me $200 less. Compare favorable to my first 4k

this is a pretty good 4k tv for under $1000! the picture looks fantastic (provided you have a source of HD programming, of course). the tv setup is quick and easy. the audio leaves a little bit to be desired. but hey, thats nothing a sound system cant fix. another small gripe is the icons for the smart apps. the definition doesnt look HD on them. but that doesnt really matter to me. ive had my tv for a little over a month. one small problem that i had was that when i powered on the tv, sometimes the audio would play but no video. i reset the tv and that seems to have fixed it. aside from these small issues, i recommend this is a good starter 4k tv.

I bought this TV for my husband for his birthday. He loves it. Picture is great. It looks a little smaller than 50 inches until you turn it on then it looks bigger. The sound is the only down side. I suggest turning on the volume leveling that makes it so much better. There has been one movie we had trouble hearing but the rest of the time it is fine! I'm sure if you have a sound bar or system you will have no problems at all!

The picture is clear . The color are like 3D. Perfect size for my apartment.

For a 4K, I think the price was great. The picture quality is pretty decent and the internet connection seems pretty fast. I can definitely tell the difference between the Vizio and Samsung products though with the overall screen quality but I really like Vizio and what they have to offer. The sound could be better but should be just fine once we have a decent soundbar attached.

I have been very skittish about buying a new TV but I finally made the leap to do so and I could not be more happy with this 4K model. I know that we are not on the 4K realm with the current console generation yet but this TV makes my PS4 and Xbox One games look absolutely marvelous. The colors are full and pop out at you (I think there was some minor upscaling), it was easy to set up netflix on it as the app comes on the tv, it is incredibly thin and light wait and was easy to mount on my wall. I have no regrets on this purchase. None. bought this TV under 600 dollars and I think I am going to buy a 65 in for the living room as well. I am very happy with this purchase.

I got this tv after Christmas because I was waiting for the best desl. However I did get a deal in the price and the The best tv I ever got!! The tv is 4K and it shows everything! My son loved that the picture was so clear he wants one too!!! I love it!!! Plus it's a smart tv too!!!!!
