Vizio. Best quality to price ratio on the market.

Vizio Tvs are the perfect ratio of quality to pricing for those on a budget. They aren't the expensive Sony/Sharp/Samsung/LG most famous brands. But they are extremely better than the cheaper knock off bad quality TV brands. Vizio is just the slightest unnoticeable hair behind those famous expensive brands, but are very affordable. I had a regular HD Vizio before this one, loved it. And I love this one I just picked up this week. Spent $600 for a 4k smart 50 inch tv with fantastic picture quality, great deal. Most people complain about audio on Vizio TVs, that is NOT an issue here. I don't even have the TV at 50% volume and Im hearing everything perfectly. Also the smart TV is a good plus because things like Netflix now offer some 4k resolution options (if you were to use this TV and watch Netflix through your game console or something you wouldn't have those options). The one negative would be the TVs default picture settings. For some reason the default setting isn't anywhere close to the best picture available. Spend a few minutes playing around with the settings and you'll get the best quality. If you own a standard HDTV and want to upgrade to 4k Vizio is a great first choice!

Nice Tv but not Direct Tv Ready

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
Just bought 2 days ago and found out it is not Direct Tv ready and will require a 4k top box Genie to view 4k signal from Direct Tv. where as Samsung and lg are. So do your home work, or be held hostage buy Direct Tv. You may also want to buy a sound bar if placed in large room .The picture is great on 1080I and easy set up

We appreciate you taking the time to provide this feedback for the D50u-D1. Though this TV cannot accept a satellite connected directly to the TV, it is compatible with a DirecTV satellite receiver connected with HDMI. HDMI is recommended for the best picture quality. This is an amazing tv. I remember buying my 37" LCD Vizio 5 years ago for $550. I was able to get this one for $600. Seems like a steal to me! Amazing quality, and sound.

Got this for $600 during black Friday sale, 4k is nice though I don't have anything that is 4k compatible. I love that it has 5 hdmi slots.
Picture and sound are both great, though the TV does seem a bit dimmer than our old Samsung we had.
Minor complaints:
The remote control could be better, it's a pain typing something in since the remote doesn't have a keyboard.
The TV couldn't read my usb flash drive, I was trying to play a 4k recording from my phone on it but it didn't show up. Maybe a software update will fix this?
No wireless display support.
Overall, this is a great 4k TV for the price, was looking at a samsung for around the same price range but this had more ports and a bigger screen. I would recommend this if it goes on sell again.

Great upgrade from Panasonic Plasma

I purchased this item on Black Friday at $599. Out of the box I really didn't care for the factory picture settings. It took a full week to calibrate the picture to my liking. I found some Vizio settings online via this link, http://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/vizio/m-series-2015/settings It's for the M series because there's nothing I could find for the D series. Hope this works for you. Netflix Ultra looks great!!

This was the perfect big screen edition to my customer's office. He was looking for high resolution and a larger screen to incorporate into multi-display setup with a computer. This fit the bill exactly. Great picture. Easy setup. Works great.

Cannot Recommend TV

After 48 hours with this television, I simply cannot recommend this unit. Coming from a 720p plasma television, I understood that motion blur would be more pronounced on this LCD panel, however watching sports such as English football and hockey are irritating at best. Aside from motion blur, the corners of the panel exhibit pronounced vignetting during particularly bright scenes which becomes distracting when watching action that travels to the corners of the screen (hockey is exceptionally bad). The smart tv apps are also enough of a negative for me to ultimately return this unit. It's disappointing that some of the stock apps are unable to to be deleted from the tray. Just because Vizio has some sort of agreement with Yahoo, doesn't mean that I should be forced to scroll through the Yahoo apps I cannot remove from the tray. Also, I'm not sure why Vizio could not require their designers to upload high dpi graphics for each app icon, but some are so low resolution they look laughable.
Ultimately, I'm not sure I'm going to find an LCD panel at this price point that exhibits motion blur qualities on par with my plasma, but I'm going to try an LG. Reviews on the panel quality of the equivalent LG are much more positive and the WebOS smart tv system looks to be a significant step up from this Vizio.

Hoping my TV is a fluke. Works great! Until you get to a high contrast scene, (heavy snow, explosions, etc) then by the letterbox bars I get flashing of black. It's very distracting. Now after having it for three days I have to exchange it. I only give it the "no I wouldn't recommend to a friend" because I haven't had it long enough to do so.

Never Again

I purchased this item almost 10 months ago. At first, the issues with the SOE were horrendous. I made every possible adjustment and did a lot of online researching. The guys at BB stated I needed very expensive HDMI cables (turns out NOT necessary), but that didn't fix the problem. While I was away for a few days after having this tv for less than 2 weeks, a firmware upgrade was made. The problems went away, and the tv was wonderful, so I chose to keep it. However, I did notice at times the left half of the screen would be b/w while the right half would have only pale green and purple shades, but that would correct once I turned it off and back on. This weekend, because of a separate issue, the tv had to be reset to factory settings. When we did that, the image reverted back to that absolute horrific SOE effect making it worthless to watch anything other than maybe some animated features on. Also, the sound bar would no longer work through the HDMI arc cable. After multiple attempts with Vizio customer service, changing all the settings, trying to do another update and nothing helping, they said it wasn't a defect so it is not considered under warranty for that issue. So I am stuck with a piece of junk that I can now not return, and there is no way I can replace it for any item. This was a once in a lifetime kind of purchase for me, and this will be the last time I every purchase a Vizio product.

Great screen, sharp image, lightweight. Fits perfectly in the apartment built in bookshelf area.
The only con is that there is no app for Internet nor an Internet browser which is one of the main reasons I bought the tv. I still have to use Apple TV to stream as there is no way to connect your phone/device to stream to the TV.

I was a little iffy about buying this tv because of how cheap it was for a 4k. The TV was better than expected. Picture was not too great coming out of the box but with a little tweaking it now looks amazing. Works fast and is very much worth the money.
