Great TV, Best Bang for your Buck

I did a lot of research prior to pulling the trigger on this TV. Yes there are most definitely better tv's out there but they are all in the $3k plus range and this TV stands up if not stands out from it's competitors in the higher price ranges. If your in the market for a larger 4K TV that has incredible picture and well suited for future upgrades this Vizio D70-D3 is a great choice. I promise you will not be disappointed.
My only criticism is the tablet that come with the TV. As neat as I thought it was and just as others pointed out it is not very user friendly. I think the concept is great but the software and app that you use to operate it works poorly. It just is not that intuitive and I consider myself fairly tech savy. The good news for those that may feel intimidated about the tablet is simple. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO USE IT IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO. Just use your usual cable provided remote, it's a non issue but hopefully they will work on the app and software that came with the TV as I think it has great potential!

I watched cable TV, a movie, sports, live stream and ran a streaming app on this TV. I was evaluating the picture and sound quality. I paid attention to the pic quality especially the blacks and the dark colors. I also played with the tablet that comes with this TV. I checked its ease of use in controlling the TV and switching from Cable TV, to APP to live streams and to changing TV settings.
After a week of all this reviewing, I would like to say I am pretty much impressed. I think for the price, it's a great TV.

I bought this tv after having several months experiencing the 2015 model and finding how great it is. The black levels are excellent. I used to rave to my friends about the great black levels that my Panasonic plasma had. This Vizio blows the plasma away. It is truly beautiful. I do find the tablet remote underwhelming. It's slow to connect and just sort of annoying. Thankfully, the SmartCast app is available for iOS and android and works great from the phones. You do need the app to make all the detailed adjustments to the set. Primarily, I stream everything from my PlayStation or Apple TV, so the chrome cast part isn't super important for me. So, that's two Vizio's for me this year and I'm very pleased with making the switch.

Nice good tv, clear picture. Darks are dark. Colors pop. 3 stars because I think there are cheaper TVs out there that are just as good. I do like chromecast. Once you get used to it. It very simple to you with any table, phone, computer. Casting is very easy but they did change it a little. They do have apps on the Tv now and Vizio sent out a new remote a no charge. The new remote has a Netflix button and some other cool feature. But really I thought the casting was and is much easier. See something on a device and just cast it to the TV. Very easy.

I bought this with some skepticism, but the picture in store was amazing. Not having a TV tuner was a setback but I ended up pairing with an XBOX One S and bought the TV tuner for that. The TV performs great for up-scaling 1080p blu-rays. It did not support the HDR-10 format out of the box and I don't have internet for the update so the XBOX is incapable of producing HRD resolution. Kind of a bummer for now.The small remote is nice and you can do the simple things you need to. The tablet remote is quite large and I don't really see myself using it for the TV. Get yourself a good 4K device like the XBOX (which has a built in 4K blu-ray player) or a 4k streaming device liek the Roku.

This TV gets a great picture at half the cost of the bigger brands. The tablet remote is slightly complicated to use but works well once you figure it out.
I wouldn't recommend this TV for anyone who isn't fairly tech savvy as it does require quite a bit of set-up, and Vizio's tech support isn't very helpful.
The only real issue I have with this set is that certain channels have a lip sync issue that the lip sync feature built into the TV will not solve. I'm not completely positive that this is the TV's fault since it only happens on certain channels (Directv), but none of my other TV's have this problem.
Overall, a great TV for the money.

After doing a lot of research I choose this tv. So far it has exceeded my expectations. It doesn't have a built in tuner. But with the ability to cast and hooked up to cable and a fire tv stick couldn't ask for more. Outstanding TV. Best bang for the buck.

Tv is great for the price point. It did take me 3 hours to get into 1080i. Went through my verizon fios settings and they were set to 1080i but were "stuck" for some reason. I had to switch to another format. Save it. Then click 1080i again and it went into HD.
Quality of tv is good. Up close shots of faces are really clear. I am a little disappointed when its not a full face shot with quality but its still good.
I havent watched anything in 4k yet but I have watch some netflix cartoons/movies like some of the Pixar movies and they are really high quality.

The TV is HUGE, has a really nice picture quality, keeps up with sports (so far, its baseball season, football will be the real test), and its internal speakers are just fine for straight tv needs. The smart cast is slowly growing on me. I am 38, and ok with technology, but it is taking a bit to get use to the smartcast remote that came with it. The more I get use to it, the more I am liking it however. One thing that I DO NOT like about the smartcast so far, is its lack of compatibility with Amazon Prime! I dont know whos problem that is, the tv maker, or amazons, but it is a small inconvenience to hook the computer into the hdmi when everything else goes through the smartcast. Hey Vizio, YOU NEED TO WORK ON THAT! If that was fixed, and they combined the little extremely basic small remote, and the smart cast remote into just the smart cast tablet, this product would be a 5 for sure. The price point is pretty darn good on this tv for everything you get. Oh, and the smart cast tablet being android I believe works with my home automation phillips ue app, facebook, my fantasy basball, and Ted talks so far. So, all in all, I am a pretty darn satisfied customer.

We appreciate you taking the time to provide this feedback for the SmartCast™ M70-D3. Unfortunately, Amazon does not support Google Cast as we use on our SmartCast models. However, you are able to cast hundreds of other popular apps, such as Netflix, Hulu, VUDU, Pandora, Spotify, HBO GO, and more! If you have any additional questions please feel free to contact us at 844-254-8088. Thanks! –Collin

I have been using it for 3 months now and very impressed by the picture quality. 4k HDR through Netflix and HDR movies ran off my XBOX have looked amazing.
The whole built in chromecast is pretty cool. Any phone can cast on it but sometimes it just disappears and the android tablet shuts off and I have to re-pair. I've probably had to re-pair it 4-5 times already. Not a big deal for me but a pain in the butt for my wife. Overall, I would highly recommend the TV.

The tv has a great picture and is super clear and bright. It does have some user issues. Setting the tv up took a lot longer with all of the updates then it really should have. The tablet remote is easy to use, but if you are not a techy person could prove troublesome. If you have the tv app on your phone anytime the tv is activated then the remote on your phone turns on as well. Kind of annoying. Overall we love the tv, but it could definitly be more user friendly.

Very nice looking Tv I mounted it on my wall with a full motion mount. I've had this for about a month now,
I've watched the Redsox blow thief playoffs, clear picture very smooth lines. I've seen Tom Brady make his debut and smoke the Browns and was impressed how smooth that was no blur and could almost see each grain of grass. Also just watched the Bruins play horrible in the first period and comeback to beat the bluejackets and no blur from the puck, that was the hardest test. I do think I need to mess with the picture settings a little more to brighten up some colors, not having a remote besides the tablet does take some getting used to, and overall I would buy this tv again the picture is great and clear for sure . Only downside to this tv is the sound definitely not high quality in that department but if you throw a soundbar on it I imagine it would be perfect

This is not a TV, but a great monitor without apps

Hi Folks, I just picked this up on Sunday and replaced my Vizio M60-C3. I wanted to upgrade to a larger screen and this new HDR picture. I am very impressed with the picture quality. I mostly use a Bright-house cable box which only broadcasts in 720P or 1080I. For 4K I use Netflix. I expect the Netflix 4K content to pick up over time. Now here is the problem and you need to pay attention as this is not well documented and 2 out of the 3 Vizio techs, along with my Best Buy sales guy didn't know this. This is not a smart TV. It is only a monitor with WiFi. Not a problem if you have an external tuner (cable box or satellite) and don't plan to watch over the air content. Without the built in apps or TV tuner the monitor relies on you using Google Cast to get content to the screen and that's where things break down. You can only watch what your device is capable of playing and you are limited by the WiFi capability of the device. So they give you a small Android Device to drive the TV. It's easy to set up and works like any android tablet. I downloaded Netflix and attempted to watch a 4K movie. It was slow and choppy. I was surprised because I had a wired Ethernet connection to the back of the Monitor and I have a 200Mb connection. Also, I had no issues with my Vizio M60 watching 4K content on the same connection. So I called Vizio and they confirmed it is really a large high end monitor and you are responsible for providing all the content. So if you just want to turn on the TV and watch Netflix or Hulu. This is not the TV for you. Also, if you are not comfortable with a smart phone or tablet, setting up apps and doing updates - stay away. On a good note you can cast from any device so all the tablets and smart phones work once you download the Google Cast App. If I can't get a better 4K steaming experience out this so called TV I will likely bring it back. I do like Vizio and if you want a 4K TV from them, buy one of their non Google Cast models. You still save quite a bit when compared to Samsung or LG.

Thanks for your purchase and feedback on the all-new VIZIO SmartCast™ M70-D3. It is not required that that the home theater display be connected through an Internet connection. That would be needed to take advantage to Cast apps. The display offers multiple HDMI inputs which can be used to connect devices such as cable and satellite boxes. Also, external tuners can be added to the display as well for over-the-air channels. We realize this is brand new technology and it takes some time to get used to it. That’s why we’re committed to continuous improvement which is going to make VIZIO SmartCast™ the best streaming experience and easiest way to control your display from anywhere in your home. If you have any questions or concerns, we encourage you to reach out to our Support team at 844.254.8088. -Randal

Great picture... Sucky remote. An android tablet is supplied as a remote. Could be a good idea, but very poor execution on the user interface. It's terrible. Super confusing when switching between smart TV functions like Netflix and back to gaming or your cable box. Solved the issue by not using the smart TV functions. Instead, we use the Xbox for those services. Otherwise a great TV at a great value.

3rd Replacement from light bleed results in bubble

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
I really liked this TV in the BB showroom, bought one and got home with it. First 4k movie I watched I noticed light bleed along the top in several spots. Spoke with VIZIO and they said they would make it right so knowing that I had only 14 days to return the set I went ahead and waited 16 days for the replacement to arrive. Same issue but worse this time. So, I schedule another replacement. It arrives with not only the same issues but it has a bubble in the lower part of the screen. Unfortunately, I was not there to refuse delivery of the set as I work 150 miles from home and am not going to ask off for a TV replacement and loose my job. I have 3 other VIZIO M series and 2 older B series that have never had one issue. Sadly, this is most likely my last VIZIO EVER. I really liked their sets. We shall see how VIZIO handles it.

It upconverts everything so fast that you see every detail. Including in between frames on cartoons which would normally just be a blue on another TV. Picture is super clear and colors are very deep. Compared to others you can't touch the price. Uses a tablet for a remote which is ok and adds cast capability.

This is a great TV, with a lot of good qualities, but it does have its' limitations. For example, it cannot stream certain services because apps are not available, such as Amazon Prime. Also, the fact that it runs on a tablet as a remote, that sometimes gets touchy and difficult to use.
