I purchased this in store in Sep 2014. I plugged it in and was amazed at the ability to stream (it is a Smart TV). I didn't have cable and I immediately connected to Netflix. There is a keyboard on the flip side of the remote, which makes it super easy to use the TV like a computer. The picture quality was pretty good. Then, a couple of days later, there was an automatic update installed. All of a sudden, I could no longer access Netflix, and the picture quality was terrible. The Netflix logo looked funny, like a Chinese version. I returned the TV without hassle from Best Buy and bought a slightly more expensive Samsung. I missed the keyboard on the remote, but otherwise LOVE my Samsung. In fairness to Vizio, I feel that if connected via cable provider with an HDMI cable, the picture quality would probably be fine. I know people who have Vizios all over there house and especially in the kids' rooms and like them just fine. I have 3 Samsungs and am very pleased with all 3. One is from 2006 (46 inch) and the other 2 from 2014 (46 to 50 inch). So if you don't mind spending the extra money, you may want to go with Samsung. But every year is different, you need to do your research.

Let me begin with I bought this as a clearance/demo model and it didn't come with the instructions or remote. Excellent picture quality and features. This is my first Smart TV! I love the fact that it has 3 HDMI inputs so I do not have to unplug/plug my Xbox, DVD player, and cable box every time I want to use them. My old Vizio remote worked with this TV but I ordered the one specific for this model just to have the hot buttons and the keyboard (yes the remote has a keyboard on the back!). The USB input doesn't play every format of movies I have but it works well enough. Great selection of apps and the picture quality is great. Great buy and I'm very happy with my purchase.

This TV was an upgrade to my previous 46" Samsung edge-lit LED TV. Enticed by the notion of a 4k TV, but not having access to much content, I wanted a TV with a fantastic picture and smart-TV features. A bit of internet research, and a walk around the Best Buy showroom, this TV was the only choice for me to make. I compared this TV to the Samsung right beside it, and I just couldn't justify the extra money, for a TV that looked almost identical to this one, in terms of picture clarity and features.
Once setup in my home, I turned to the NFL channel. Unlike the Samsung, which I had to calibrate to reduce ghosting, this TV was great out of the box. I made very few tweaks, mostly to reduce sharpness, to the picture. For the first time, I could see details in the NFL uniforms that were otherwise never known outside of an actual game.
Xbox One games, on this TV... simply awesome.
When more content is available, I'll turn to Vizio for a 4k TV and move this one to my bedroom.

Purchased for bedroom to replace 32 inch. Very impressed with picture. Very clear. Love the 240hz refresh rate. Picture settings easily customized. Easy set up overall. Quick connection to wifi. Smart features work great - mostly Netflix thus far. Sound is better than expected and fine for bedroom although would get a sound bar if in a main viewing room. Quick shipping. Great tv for price. Currently own Samsung and LG and the Vizio holds it own.

This replaced a 50" plasma HDTV (720p) display that was 8 years old & died. The VIZIO's picture in my opinion is superior, w/a brighter display, vibrant colors, & excellent contrast. I had to turn off motion smoothing, as it was causing fast-moving objects to double or skip (most noticeable during sports/golf/baseball). It's not needed anyway, as this TV has a 240Hz refresh rate.
Setup is easy, w/plenty of appropriate inputs. I am not using the TV's speakers or digital audio output, as I run the digital audio output from my cable box & DVD directly into a Denon AV receiver. As noted above, I initially tried using the TV's digital audio output & had issues w/it lagging or cutting out on me, so be forewarned. Connecting to the Internet using a wired cable is automatic & is the preferred method, however the TV supports WiFi. I had questions on how to do the setup & VIZIO's customer support was excellent, both easy to access & very knowledgeable. Recommended.

I got this TV on sale for $448 in Nov 2014. This was a great value for the price. I'm sure it matches the picture quality of more expensive Samsung sets. The Smart TV functions are pretty handy, not the greatest, but not bad. The backlit QWERTY on the back of the remote is very helpful, but sometimes it is confusing how to get the keyboard to start typing if you don't select the input field by pressing ok instead of just highlighting the field. I do wish the front side of the remote was also backlit. I would recommend spending the time to look up calibration settings online to get the best picture quality. The sound isn't bad, but I upgraded to the Vizio 5.1 wireless soundbar, which this TV remote can also control.

Vizio is still missing the IndieFlix app causing my rating to be 4 instead of 5. The TV has a great picture, decent selection of apps and I love the remote. It's hard to find a set this size with 4 HDMI inputs and you can't beat the price.

My under 4 year old LG stopped working so i ran out and bought an E series Vizio and was not impressed. Decided to upgrade to the M series and ended up very happy. This baby is so clear, and easy to set up. And if the TV isnt good enough of you the remote is almost the greatest TV innovation ever. The remote is a very nice on the front AND has a full illuminated qwerty keyboard on the back. My only complaint is that I cant program the remote for my sound system. I have to use 2 remotes to start Netflix. I might not have given it 5 stars if i had paid over $1000 for it but since i paid under $700 total it definitely gets 5 stars from me.

I primarily watch sports and classic movies. I couldn't be happier with my purchase. Very good mix of internet apps, and easy setup. Very customizable in terms of picture and sound, and I love that the remote has a qwerty keyboard, makes it much easier to search, and you can type as opposed to using arrow navigation. Slim profile, and very stylish.
My one complaint, if it can be considered a complaint, is that the tv is so sharp, and well defined, movies sometimes have a surreal, or video quality. Old classic movies are almost 3D in their appearance!

The picture on this TV is very good. the controller is very useful with the full Qwerty keyboard on the back. The smart TV interface is easy to use and understand. Sometimes the lip sync is off from the picture but that is usually when you just turn on the cable box. After a minute it corrects itself. Overall a solid TV.

It is a lot lighter than our old LG tv. Great pic and found that I enjoy using the smart tv benefits in my room. The remote has a mini keyboard on the back so it makes it easier to use some of the options. Overall, we think it is a great value for the money.

Pretty great TV. Awesome picture and sound for a Vizio.
The only things is I wished Rhapsody was compatible with the TV as advertised. Only swtich that comes on this TV is the ON and OFF nothing else. with that being said, don't misplace your remote because you will be @$$ out unless you have a smart phone.
Google cast compatibility needed PLEASE!! :-)

This TV was just fine. The picture was a little different; it looked like I was watching a home movie and i wasn't able to change the picture settings. I really liked the apps and how easy they were to access. Also, anything less than a 60" just doesn't float my boat any more but if the size fits than its a great all around value.

The Picture settings out of the box are pretty good. I have yet to purchase a video calibration blu ray so the settings I used below are a combination of internet research and personal. I am admittedly much more of an audiophile than I am a videophile. However, I do have 20/20 vision, and I am studying electrical engineering. Because I am grateful for my eyessight I intentionally wanted a TV without 3-D capabilities. I usually see all the signal jitters, processing hiccps, in even the most high end 4k displays. That being said I did not expect top of the line performance when I purchased this TV, but I am thoroughly pleased (surprised) by the performance of this television. The picture quality, after tweeking, is what I expect from a set costing $700-$800 more. There is a bit of jitter on scenes certain cable broadcasted scenes when thin objects move past larger objects (i.e. a person moving behind a chain link fence). But I only cover experienced this via network streams (cable or other). Btw the built-in WiFi synced flawlessly--took less than 1 minute to setup. Blu rays look amazing--no 3-D capabilities but again that's my preference. Below are the settings I use (these are not precision calibration settings):
Auto Brightness Control: Off
Backlight: 45
Brightness: 50
Contrast: 64
Color: 50
Tint: 0
Sharpness: 0
Advanced Picture:
Color Temperature: Normal
Smooth Motion Effect: High
Motion Blur: On
Everything Else: Off
Professional Picture:
Everything: 0 (Default)

The TV was easy to set-up and worked out of the box. The set up instructions were not difficult although not intuitive but I was able to work through them. I cannot get 1080p from my cable for television viewing but X-Box and DVDs play at 1080p. The color is crisp and clear. I have not tried the internet on the TV as I am somewhat distrustful of the internet outside of my computer which has additional security measures installed.

Loved the price on the TV, for the features you get and it being a smart TV I love it. Has optical sound connection, 4 HDMI slots, USB and Composite connections. Also works like a ChromeCast. So if you are watching Youtube you can push it to the TV. Pretty awesome!! Picture is outstanding as well. Only thing that was kinda sad about it is the speakers, seems like they are all high end and no base. But if you're hooking it up to a Bose or any type of sound bar then don't let that bother you. I have it hooked up to a Bose Solo TV sound system that hooks up into the optical connection. One plug and you're done!! Good quality for the money. From what I seen on the floor was next to the HG's and Samsung of the equal size and didn't see too much difference in quality.

Great alternative to Samsung

I purchased this television as a replacement for an older Samsung 42" screen with large bezel (early generation flat panel LCD) for my parents in FL. The difference is amazing. Was able to increase to a 49" display in the same footprint as the 42". Very small bezel makes it look like the picture is floating in mid air.
The screen is incredibly bright and retains it's brightness at most angles. The picture remains clear even with the Florida sun lighting the room. Blacks are great making movies look pretty good.
This is my first experience with Vizio and found them to be an acceptable alternative to the big players. If top notch specs and top price is not priorities, the Vizio products are a great alternative. I have no problem suggesting them to anyone and would purchase again.

I debated between Samsungs of similar pricing or size, but for my budget of ~$500, I couldn't beat this tv. We love the Smart features as they are fast and smooth. i just wish Spotify wasn't premium only. I stream Netflix, Amazon, and Pandora regularly. We love it. The picture is crisp and the sound is actually pretty good just basic. I plan to get a sound bar in the future with a sub-woofer though.

Plenty of inputs. Supports output to digital speakers.
All around great TV.
