Sounds and Looks Great

I needed a large sound bar for my 60" tv and didn't want to spend $800+ for one. After all the reviews I read this was a no brainer. It sounds great and is very easy to use. Connected HDMI it works perfectly with my Vizio TV. The subwoofer fits under the couch which makes the rear speakers really easy to hookup without running miles of wires or feeling with wireless.

Was looking for an inexpensive upgrade for my sound system in the living room. Liked the thin subwoofer concept. Rear channel speakers are actually quite small with adequate sound and don't look too bad on the separate speaker stands I purchased. One issue is the molded speaker plugs for the rear speaker cables. They won't fit though the tubes of any conventional speaker stand; had to cut and reconnect. Seems like it takes a little while for the sub and rear speakers to connect to the sound bar each time the unit turns on, but so far not a big deal. Overall quite happy with the purchase

This is a great soundbar, it was however a big headache right away. I, like so many could not get the sub to pair with the soundbar. Instead of messing around scratching my head, I called Vizio support. I was on the phone for about 1 hr trying all sorts of things to get this to pair. Finally they said they would send me an all new one (2day shipping).
I found out that this soundbar has alot of issues pairing, but the new ones coming out from Vizio warehouse have a new update in them that fixes that issue. I received the whole soundbar system in 2 days, with a return shipping label to send the old unit back.
Reinstalled the soundbar, sub and rear speakers, turned on the sub, turned on the soundbar, hit 'pairing' and it instantly paired.
--------------------------------------------BREAKDOWN----------------------
Now technical stuff:
-I am running VIzio TV M70-d3 tv with this soundbar, using optical for sound. I could not run HDMI ARC because my xbox 1s is using that HDMI ARC port on TV for the HDR content. HDMI ARC TV to HDMI soundbar does sound slightly better than Optical to optical connection.
-Once you figure out the remote and how to navigate it, its easy.
-I am having a slight issue fixing the voice delay from TV to soundbar, both the TV and soundbar have adjustments that can be made to correct this.
-You can listen in Dolby, so make sure to change that on TV remote, sounds very good.
-Sub adjustments on remote, make sure to change that, bass, treb., etc.
Sound quality:
-For the price, this is an excellent soundbar. Mind you, its not theater gold standard, but itll give you plenty of bass and sounds you all need. Mids lack slightly
- Rear speakers are not super loud, good for sports games, but for video games I hear mainly the soundbar and sub
-Sub, very good and good bass, love that it fits right under the couch, it does not get muffled
Install:
-Im OCD and cannot stand wires, if you are like me, install may take sometime (about 3hrs if hiding everything). For basic install, a few power cords and optical/AV cords and you are up and running (15-20mins).
-For detailed install, mounting brackets are not bad, however if you are not installing into studs, youll need drywall anchors. Remember, do not run power cords through walls, Electrical code violation. I did run my left/right speaker wire through wall.
-I did upgrade my Left/right speaker wires to better ones for cleaner transfer of sound
-I did upgrade my optical from the basic one they give you, amazon optical is a good cheap cable.
-I do have everything running on a surge protector, this prevents any chance of the warranty being voided. (always read fine print of warranty)
Overall this is a great soundbar, it is in my back room, approx. 13W'x 40'L with vaulted ceilings, and the sound echos throughout the house. Do your research, again, for the quality and overall experience, this knocks other brands out of the water. And if you do experience pairing issues, call vizio immediately, you have a 1yr warranty on this stuff so if they cant fix it, theyll send you a new one at no charge.

I am very impressed with the overall sound quality especially for the price. Dialogue is clear, the sub-woofer present but not over powering and the 5.1 is immersive. Setup is easy and the remote has several options to balance the performance and mix of front, center, rear and sub.
I have it on ARC mode which is convenient and seems to be the highest quality of sound. My only negative is that when the TV (a 55" TCL P605) is paused for more than a few minutes the sound bar turns off. To get it back on the TV needs to power off and then on again. There are also a few drop outs in the audio but it seems to vary with the source input so I'm not sure if it's the TV or cable signal.
My heart was set on the Bose Solo 5 which sounded and looked great in my home but it lacked the low end and adding the additional speakers to fill out the sound was price prohibited for me.
I also compared to to the VIZIO - SmartCast 36" 5.1-Channel Soundbar System with 5" Wireless Subwoofer and Digital Amplifier - Black. This had a very clean sound mix but lacked the low end ( sub is 6" compared to 26.5") which made the sound seem shallow.

Recently picked up the new Vizio Smart Cast 5.1 Sound bar to pair with the new Vizio M-series 70". I must say for the price this sound bar is fantastic. User friendly, plug and play. The sub-woofer was much bigger than i was expecting, but that's probably a good thing, as it puts out some serious lows. My couch sits too low, so i had to stand it up on the side of the couch, for my living room setup that was a non-issue. I haven't been able to turn the volume up all the way because it is simply just too loud. The sound that the speakers put out is amazing, super crisp and clear, with deep lows. Smart Cast is great, i can push whatever i am watching or listening to, to either just the sound bar or the TV (If you are listening to say Spotify, you don't need it to be on the TV). I must say for the price of this setup, I am pleased with the quality of the sound output. These speakers have transformed a normal living room into what feels like we are watching TV in a movie cinema. Mounting the sound bar on the wall under the TV looks great, and very simple to do. Great work Vizio! I will upload some pictures if i can figure that out.

When I first saw this product and what it was offering for the price it was I was a bit cautious. After using this for about a month now i can definitely say for the cost of this product and the sound you get is beyond good and the options for setting this product up was a bonus as I can switch the sound setup to play sound from my tv or my gaming console with little latency from switching. It’s great for connecting music apps too like pandora or Spotify. One con that I can think of is you have to shut the sub off by hitting the power button on it as it does not shut off when using the power button on the remote but that in itself is not that big of a deal as it does not get hot or use a lot of electricity.

Average ... and flawed

The app is clumsy.
The soundbar repeatedly drops connection and the sub-woofer makes a 'knocking' sound whenever the bar & sub need to find each-other (just a guess). Initial setup was a nightmare and the app found more than one device. What? Had to clear the app cache, stop the app all together and uninstall/re-install.
Customer service boasts about being in the U.S. but they are sub-class. They can't even correctly state which firmware is applicable for their products. That's just unacceptable.
Vizio needs to rethink product development going forward.
Apps are the glue that bring products into the new millennium...
Vizio doesn't take that responsibility seriously.
And if that isn't proof enough, just research how poorly they roll out firmware updates on their product range.
Can't recommend - at any price.

Love the sound and wireless subwoofer. For the price it's great. The sound is clear and love it very much. The only thing is that after a month sometimes it loses connection to the sound bar. At times loses connection when I already set it up. I have to reset it up so that it plays the sound through the system and not the TV.
Over all I like it and so does the wife. We watch a lot of movies and action movies. So we love it with our 55 inch.
Easy to set up, and easy to program.

I got a Samsung before this because my tv is a Samsung and I returned it, this one is 10 times better in quality and design.
I love the thin woofer. I put it under my sofa and and it sounds perfect.
Setup was easy. I just got a little confused about this special HDMI cable that it has and my tv doesn't.

Bought the exact same system last year with my 70” Vizio tv and only hooked up the sound bar. Did t buy the warranty that time and regret it, a lightning strike grounded at the garage door and took out everything but the major appliances, luckily I had a warranty on everything else. Hooked up the entire system this time and went from having the tv volume at 53 just to hear it (I’m a diesel mechanic/supervisor now so loud noises all day long) with this system I can keep it at 10 and hear perfectly

The system provides excellent bass, I have it paired via Bluetooth and with a Vizio TV. I love how the subwoofer is wireless and incredibly thin! The rear surround speakers connect to the subwoofer as well, so there’s not much mess with wiring. When watching tv or movies you almost want the system to sound better, to give you an immersive surround sound experience. The mids and highs aren’t the best, I’ve changed the settings but not much had improved for movies / tv. I feel it’s best for music.

Great Soundbar When On Sale

I purchased this soundbar as an Elite Plus customer that has early access to the Black Friday sale. I got it at a great deal. I purchased it for my living room where we have some new recliner furniture on the way. I love the soundbar, my wife hates it because it can go pretty loud and I have difficulty hearing and she does not. The one thing that I do not like about the remote is that the LED portion at the top of the remote can hardly be read unless you are in some direct light, but once you have it set up the way you want it, that is not much of an issue. I like how you can hide the subwoofer under you sofa and the extra cable for the wired speakers can be hidden there as well. I must say that this is one of the best soundbars that I have ever owned.

If you’re looking for big theater sound then this is not the one for you. But if you’re looking for solid quality and clarity of sound with some nice kick to it then this can work for you. The only negative was that we had to reset the subwoofer almost every day in order to get the full surround sound. If you don’t the subwoofer disconnects from the soundbar and you have no rear speakers.

I have Bose Sound Bar gear at home. Needed something to improve the sound of a couple of 70 inch displays at the office without breaking the bank. This SmartCast sound bar and subwoofer stood out in the store and does not disappoint when installed. I can tell the difference between it and the Bose, but at 1/3rd the cost I recommend going with this unless you have money to burn.
